Kia ora from New Zealand. Lovely cottage garden tour - sort of what I'm trying to achieve in my own country garden. I'm trying Hollyhocks for the first time this year but am unsure whether to direct seed or grow in pots first. Maybe I should try both. I've had great success with my calendula which I direct seeded in autumn - now flowering during winter! That's climate change I guess. Yours are always my favorite garden tours - so informative. I also planted a bare-root Albertine rambler 2 months ago - which is now bursting into life. I'm hoping it will cover the old chicken coop which is now where I compost everything. Can't get enough of your tours :)

Thank you so much. We always direct sow the hollyhocks. We sow most in autumn after they set seed and keep some seed back to sow in spring direct in case we have a hard winter. Like an insurance policy

I’m pretty (very) pleased with how the garden has come along this season too! 😁
Can we please always have a full garden tour? I enjoyed the longer saunter about the place so much

Such an amazing garden! Calendula was barely to find here as well, and some Dahlias where sold out 10 minutes after they went online (in the netherlands). Due to the long period of cold and wet weather in Mai/June some appletrees (and not only the appletrees) got a fungus. Your garden looks so well maintained, thank you for the tour. Take care, Hanni.

Thank you Hanni, glad you enjoyed it . There are areas we still need to work on as in most gardens. Its a labour of love. The hollyhocks are a joy at this time of year
