I have been gardening for 50+ years. I have watched the personality of those who garden both living now, and those passed on. I cannot escape the thought that the garden reveals the soul of the person within. A beautiful soul craves and creates beautiful surroundings, beautiful sights, beautiful sounds, beautiful fragrances. Thank you all for sharing with the world.

People who desire and aim for beauty and a relaxed lifestyle while allowing 'nature' to flourish....Just wonderful!! Thank you from New Zealand in awe..xx October 2021.
I love British cottage and little village.so fresh so charming. Like live in a fairytale
All the people interviewed were so lovely. Mr. Townsend had such a sweet spirit about him, encouraging young people to garden. As this was filmed in 1995, it makes me sad to think most of these people are probably gone from this earth and their beloved gardens 😞. Hoping they have a celestial plot or two somewhere 😇
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does any of you know of a tool to get back into an instagram account..?
I was stupid lost the password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me
@Kenneth Vivaan Instablaster :)
Did you know that the Bible speaks of a time when we will do this Isaiah c65 v 22 says that they will build houses and live in them and they and they will plant thi is what I look forward to in the coming future
Camp Cottage was for sale not long ago. The LORD prepares a home for his children.
I have created my cottage and garden in the English style, right in the USA. It is peaceful: filled with Clematis, Columbine, many many roses (17) penstemon and wisteria at the windows...it is lovely and peaceful*
Nothing more beautiful than an English cottage garden ... very inspiring!
Hannah Oron classic and beautiful
I agree.

I live in Brisbane Australia which has wonderful flora and fauna . It is quite loud in comparison to England's softer sounds and colours. Most birds here are extremely noisy. I do miss the sounds and scents of fresh mown grass and the seasonal changes .Watching these sorts of videos still makes me homesick , even after almost fifty years.
DnA I moved from Scotland to Pacific Northwest. It’s like Scotland on steroids. 😂
Move to Tassie
I'm homesick for it and I'm a Southern California native!
Toss everything in and see what comes out at the end. That’s what gardening is all about for me.
Nothing as beautiful as the English Rose. English gardens, and country sides are beautiful.
I'm so glad that this charming documentary has been preserved and is available for viewing on youtube. Its such a precious documentary for me and brings me great joy!
Growing a naturalistic garden like this, full of delicate flowers and poisonous plants tucked here and there that goes on for miles around a tiny cottage is a dream of mine ever since they made us read the secret garden in elementary school :)
Simply.... marvellous. Thank you.
Beautiful Gardens. I have 12 Clematis, IN MY FIRST YEAR! LOL .I plan to grow thousands! The smallest plan is never large enough. Creating a beautiful environment is never a waste of time.
Amazing to have 12 Clematis!
Well said.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful English cottage garden with us it was such a beautiful country garden hugs and kisses from grandma Sandy and Debbie
I love this. My mother send me a lot of card with photos like this. It is a pleasure to see all that beautiful cottages and English gardens. 😍
Such a lovely, quaint documentary on one of my favourite garden styles...the cottage garden. I could live in those places easily. Such a relaxing documentary and well written!

All gardens are precious but especially those that have been tended with sweat and blood.
Only those who have been pricked by thorns, stung by insects would understand the love of a garden. 😍😍😢😍😍
Selin, very nice , I liked very much.
The beauty made me a little envious of these tasteful gardens. Being for almost fifty years away, living in South Africa, My memories serve my English roots for ever!
Oh how i love the English cottage garden ! I love Cottage Garden more than Formal Garden, really i do.
Formality - at least, where gardens are concerned - is not OUR style. We English tend to be a Hobbity sort of folk, really, and so prefer the Cosy and the Comfortable and the Natural to the Clinical and the Geometric and the Contrived.
Beautiful gardens - I wish I had a green thumb!
My admiration for such a lovely collection of my all time favorite English countryside portraying beautiful cottages for which English can be rightly proud of.
We English (in the main) are FAR more impressed by someone's creating a beautiful garden than we are by someone's amassing a large pile of money !
Beautiful. By the grace of God i am creating my own cottage garden in Aus. When spring comes and the flowers start blooming all the hard work is so very worth the results. Also the honeyeater birds just love the native plants. Thankyou for a lovely programme.
Best wishes , and good luck
I'm trying to do the same in Canada! God help me lol.
Just wonderful! I have an English Garden in Nova Scotia. I am at my most peaceful self, puttering around. A labor of love.
There's nothing like country living and eating fresh vegetables from the garden and watching beautiful flowers growing and listening to the birds singing.

I absolutely agree with you!!!
I know, that’s why I wish garden videos would drop the background music.
Let us not forget the evil rates and highest cost of living in world

Really amazing Cottage and Country Gardens
I am a nice lady and I love to garden. My husband of 30 years is an old grump, but he helps me anyway!
Beverly 😂😂😂 X
30 years?? A grump?? ...... Very patient lady! Lol .....
That’s too funny. Bless you and your garden.
I love garden ing too
I absolutely loved this! It's so inspiring seeing people their ages so healthy and active. My mom's 64, retired, and loves to garden. We have a vegetable garden and a flower garden, and she's helping me learn how to garden. I'm planning a butterfly garden for my section. We already have a healthy variety, but I want to see if I can attract more since we live in a great environment for them.
some gorgeous inspiration ! m.ruclips.net/video/g7VNwU3KuDc/видео.html
That line is fascinating, "all the things that die gracefully" :) i feel it's how she wants to be defined one day:)
The narrator has a beautiful way with words. Appropriate for such beautiful gardens.
Yes! I love the narration. Part of the beauty of this documentary.
Lovely gardens, lovely people...thank you!
Echoes of winter and promise of summer. What a beautiful thing..well said sir...
Excellently written.
The English garden is beautiful thanks
I love all of the gardeners too! They are as charming as their gardens!
It reminds me of my mom's garden. How wonderful to see what diligent hands could make.
Oh, but by the end of a hot summer these hands aren't so diligent and the weeds take over which they probably never did in your mom's garden. But thank you for your positive idea, Grace!
grannieannee Woops! I posted this on somebody's blog not mine! Sorry!
There’s never enough time to do all the gardening you want.
English are so lucky they have variety of flowers grow in their gardens.
Beautiful garden. A sudden change in the last cottage with garden. This will have to be my favorite pastime in my downtown time. Can't see enough of Cottage homes with beautiful gardens.
This film truly inspiring , thank you for preserving this film🤗😍😍😍👏🏻👍🏽😇
oh my gosh I would drop everything and go live there right now
yearly rates 2060 pounds a year for nothing back . I sold mine as bills so costly and moved to Europe built similar and no rates and same services. Land a third of price of UK
Kevin James Parr 😮 me too!
I live in Vancouver, BC. I love my backyard but am working on Eden!
Omg same
@@kevinjamesparr552 where did you move to ?
I like them
...... Remember a floral designer ...... in NYC ...... many years ago ..... who did gorgeous English Country baskets & Wedding's! The church arrangements were heavenly! ......
I just love gardening.
Beautiful cottage and the garden LOOKS LOVELY.
THIS IS AMAZING AND RELAXING!
I loved this beautiful documentary. The historic stills were amazing! Thank you.
Its sad to think that most, if not all of these gardeners are no longer with us, considering when this documentary was made. I wonder what has become of their gardens, and what they look like nowadays.
I love the paintings she does !!!!!
Beautifully done! Thank you for sharing these incredible gardens!
29:51 If I were born in england as a englishmen I would have married you and in lived in the same cottage. You protray exactly my dream girl in childhood and the cottage with garden the world where I lived. Probably they were the effects of books I did read in childhood or maybe I was like that my mind.

Oh my this was just lovely, thank you. It is almost January on the Canadian prairies and I am just obsessed with watching english gardening videos. After a while the frozen white landscape makes you crave for green and growing things. I would love to have a beautiful english cottage garden. Thank you again.
Thank you, Prairiepatch. I somehow missed reading your comment two months ago until I watched this today with my grand daughter Allison. She needed to see herself all dressed up like a queen again, one of her favorite things. We both enjoyed your comments and hope you have a short winter this year.
grannieannee Woops I posted this on somebodyelse's blog by mistake. No wonder I hadn't read it before. So sorry!

i have a "NEW ENGLISH" country garden in Westport, MA, USA. it will stay for hundreds of years.....NEW ENGLAND.
If you are still wanting a 'fix' of English cottage gardens et al then do watch 'Gardeners World' by the BBC introduced by Monty Don and his two Golden Retrievers. A great antidote to anything!
Also don't forget to look out for the Chelsea Flower Show in May. Many back episodes here on RUclips of both. Make a cup of tea, sit back and enjoy. xx
Nice people tend to garden, I suppose....
Well, I don't have a large garden because I don't have enough land, that's for sure.
I am overwhelmed with such beauty!

🐥🐦 Subject: My feelings as a 'BIRD'
🐥 If I am a bird, if I have very strong wings, if I have powerful eyes, if I have a talented mind, if I am so bright, if I can fly as much as high, if I can live without water and food, if I have a good strength and courage, if I have a beautiful mind, if I have as many as singing tunes with melodious sounds, and if I have the ability to fly easily from one country to another country,
As a bird my paradise will be the earth where I can achieve full of happiness and pleasure. There will be no one to hurt me. I may live as per my wish without any worries and sadness.
I will have the fullest freedom to fly where I want and enjoy what I need.
God has created the birds with full of freedom filled happiness. Birds comes as precious gifts of God.
If I am a bird, I would fly from places to places and enjoy the beauty of the nature with endless happiness and pleasure.
Birds are glorious and they are gifted with full of freedom. Then, why God doesn't want to turn me out from human nature to a BIRD.
I prefer to be a bird more than a human being.

I'm watching Great British Garden Revival, Cottage Gardens and House Plants, Ep 3, and there's Angela Winfield of Snape Cottage in a segment on saving and exchanging seeds. Not a face you're likely to forget once you've seen it...
lol...I had watched that episode but didn't put two and two together or recognize her!
The English Country Gardens that I have worked in during the past 20+ years involve unremitting labour too!
Thanks for entertaining us! Very impressive!
wonderful gardens !!!!!!
Beautiful thanks.
Very homely pretty gardens😍😍
Instructive, yet beautifully done.
Gorgeous gardens.
Just beautiful!! I wonder what they look like in the winter when the flowers are gone?
I love the vast free wild open spaces and unique Australian trees, flowers etc. But, as you I could live in an English country cottage with a lot of spacious gardens around it.
so inspiring!
Beautiful!
wow just wow...I see all the love you both put into this breathtaking masterpiece.
Beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing. Lots of ideas for when I move back to the country next year and have a garden again.
Upper Mill Cottage seems to be a holiday home to rent now...
Brilliant film and so helpful. Thank you for providing names of commonly used plants inn English cottage garden in the midsection of this film. Useful information and I enjoyed the history. Inspiring. I promised the fellow I bought my home from that I'd keep the peonies planted by his wife in the 1060s. They are proud bloomers to this day (2020) and I've built up around them, using them as a focal point. Thank you.
very inspiring...thank you very much...love the combination of flowering plants and vegetables too in a garden...greetings from the Philippines ☺
...
Really enjoyed that. Thank you
I am Montagnard indigenous I love the garden.
Perfect Antika👍💙🌷🌹♥️
