Fireline is my favorite line. I've had big fish take into rocks and still land the. Fireline is not really a braided line it's a fused line. It only goes up to 30lb test, but don't let that fool you. I've landed many 40 - 60 pound fish on it. I also use braided line and monofilament line. I'm thinking about trying a new monofilament brand this season, Andy's line. I like to experiment a little. Wind knots are a bummer, but I can get most out. In my experience, it happens more with light line like 6lb test or smaller. Great information in your video, Randall!
I prefer braid mainly because I use heavy spinning tackle, and I hate the memory of mono with a bloody passion also all the species I go after aren't line shy anyway so I can just attach an 18 inch piece of leader material to my swivel for abrasion resistance and be good to go, but to each their own.
@quickcatchandrelease I fish the upper Mississippi River and there's tons of sharp abrasive rocks and abrasive sunken logs where I fish. My secret is that I use 4 strand braid, 4 strand braid tends to be more abrasion resistant because it's made out of 4 thicker strands instead of 8 miniscule tiny strands And I have gone as low as 10 lb braid without issues for different species just use 4 strand braid and a Carolina rig with a swivel and then 18 inches of monofilament leader and you won't have any break offs.
@@quickcatchandrelease I will I will keep your information that you just shared which I thought was awesome. I never knew so. I will use the braid and some of the lakes and ponds around my area and mono in the rivers.
It's always good to try new things! What brand are you thinking about trying? I recommend Sufix, Power Pro or Fins big game xt. I have had good luck with those brands. Fins is the most expensive out of them.

I agree with you. If I didn’t fish rocks and trees. I’d use braid. I still use it sometimes with a leader like you. Great comment!

I’ve always used mono, but this year I’m using braid on a couple of my reels just to see how I like it and how it works and feels
Let me know how it goes!
