Anthony, you can’t take 3 points away just because “This one wasn’t about Hitler.”
Lmao ok this one is funny
How does Gunn reviews have the best comments😂
Wow nothing compares this year to The Brave 2 for Fantano
So that's why fantano keeps that lil mustache
Well Hitler is his favorite after all, so it makes a little bit of sense.
I know people are already showing it love, but KITCHEN LIGHTS needs to be noted. Its absolutely immaculate and maybe my favorite Gunn song ever. The string loop, the hook, the verses, all of it is mournful and gorgeous. Holy shit I cant get enough of it
Listening to the album rn and that’s the best track so far and I thought it was like a 6/10 dame guess I’m not a fan
On the first day God created KITCHEN LIGHTS 🙏
bro i swear when i heard it my jaw was on the floor 10 minutes after the track ended, i almost cried
produced by DJ Benoit member of our ART LORDS team from Russia
I can't stand the chorus in that track. it's annoying and doesn't really fit the vibe imo. Don't really get the hype
Anthony’s takes on Griselda should be studied. No way in hell he gave this a better rating over Pray For Paris and others
That was before he became boys with them. 😂😂
pray for paris wasnt that good tbf basically all of hwh is better
This album was absolute trash 🗑️
I can understand the ratings, Pray for Paris had a couple misses on a short album, this one a few on a longer one but there’s more grime/psychedelia and more varied features
lmfao @@NL-fg6it
Westside Gunn is such a real artist in my books. From the name, album titles and the beats just being pure art. Like he’s deconstructed the gangster boom bap style and presented it in a raw and concentrated manner. Straight up art.
He doesn’t make the beats
@@Nintendo-Zhe didnt imply that
@@Nintendo-Z But he chooses them. That showcases artistic vision
@@sinaklsindre2831uh yeah he did
@@christiansorgente9553sure but that’s not harder than creating the beat itself. I feel like the producer should get most of the credit in hiphop whenever someone mentions the beat. That’s all
haven’t watched the video yet but my thoughts on the album match anthony’s perfectly.
💀
haven’t heard the album yet but my thoughts on the album match anthony’s perfectly
how, if you haven’t watched the video yet, can you know that?
Westside inspires me.. My parents said if i get 60K followers They'd buy me a professional camera for recording..begging u guys , literally
Begging...
we finally started to get through all the comments that just make up some horrible thing to say melon did in the video, and now we get these. why is the only option one unfunny joke or the other lol
Would’ve given it a 10 if the album was called And Then You Pray For Kendrick
😂😂
Zzzzz
Honest to God he probably would. I'm a huge kdot fan. This honestly might be on the same level as Mr moral imo.
Kung Fu Kenny, aint nobody praying for me
Kendrick is super overrated
Let's not let this review distract from the fact that this album scored higher than Pray For Paris. I will be praying for you Anthony 🙏
Love a lot of songs off the new album but it doesn't come close to Pray For Paris for me. That's just such a concise and well made project
Fantano's opinions are always like this. But I still enjoy him giving music takes. I disagree a lot but still.
Didn't he give PFP an 8?
@@FakeAdirTV a 6 🤦
This album is slightly better than pray for Paris to me because production was more enjoyable to me on this album than Pray for Paris
Kitchen lights is one of the best songs I’ve heard in a long time. This album oddly gets better every spin. It’s a little bloated but it has serious high points
it genuinely skyrocketed to one of my favorite West songs since he teased it. immaculate track
Kitchen Lights has to be one of my favorite songs of the year so far. What a banger
Easily
Last track on this album has one of the best beats I’ve heard on a Griselda record. Surprised not many people are talking about it.
Agreed. That hook has been stuck in my head since the project dropped.
Man I really liked 1989. I enjoyed the lower pitch. Definitely a track I keep coming to on the album. Gotta give an MVP to Stove God. He really showed up on this album. Like damn, gotta give this man his credit. He killed it.
Facts
You would've given this a 10 if it was by Eastside Flintlock.
Eastside Flintlock is a fire ass name wtf
@@andrew_gould ikr it's actually dope
3:04 can we appreciate how on point that trapaholics impression was
I appreciate Westside Gunn not getting stuck in the Boom Bap lane
But he didn't have the flow for those trap beats in my opinion
It's slightly too slow and stiff to get me hyped
I was pretty damn disappointed when I got to the Denzel Curry feature and it wasn't on a grimy ass boom bap beat, because Zel would've absolutely killed it
This is one of the first times where I felt Fantano OVERrated an album
I was pretty disappointed ngl
Pray for Paris was a good ass album so this had me mixed
Yeah the slow rapping style does not complement the trap sound at all he sounds really bad on trap beats.. when you rap on trap beats you gotta speed it up a little
Agreed. I’m all for artists experimenting and trying new things but WSG and trap just doesn’t mesh well sonically
Exactly, LL Bool Gunn and Dunnhill shouldn't have been put out at all, imo they are genuinely horrible to listen to
This album twice as good as pray 4 paris
Well that was heavily unexpected considering the backlash it got
He only gave it a decent review cuz he's friends with westside
@@Kaboom4L oh word? I ain't know they were friends
@@Kaboom4Ljust because he does an interview doesn't mean he'll rate an album highly. he's arguably better friends with oliver tree and logic, yet he rates their albums poorly regularly.
@@nickyhearthe also did an interview with Anco recently and didn’t even review their new record in full at all
@@Kaboom4Lhe was still completely fair and critical
I wasn't crazy about this album at first but it grew on me a lot , which i guess is most people's experience with this record
honestly this shi happens with all gunn albums
@@voodoo5553 nah first time i listened to hermes 8 side b i loved it instantly
@@JIMY414 hated hermes side b cuz it was my first full listen of a westside gunn album and his voice flow and cadence threw me off at first besides like julia lang
@@voodoo5553I mean tbh, I knew which tracks I liked off this album on first listen, and those songs are really good, but the bad songs, they are very bad lmfao. Someone needs to take Miguel da plugs production equipment away, that brother can NOT cook.
@@Yofo-ct8rk tf r u talking about , it grew on me like 5 days ago
I wish Westside's flows we're faster, or more pronounced. Other than that, no complaints, the features were class, as usual. The bars, fantastic. And the overall grimey cocaine trappy vibe was well executed. Good album.
I feel like his voice works so well over the soul samples and boom bap because his cadencesort of acts as an instrument in itself. but on this project his underpronounced and slurred delivery on the trap cuts are really jarring and extremely hard to listen too. blud needs to go to speech therapy.
Just hang out in the hood and not on blogs
westside's flows on the trap cuts really took me out of the songs on first listens, but the more i gave it a try, the more i got used to them. i will say, the trap songs on here are some of my least favorites but nowhere as bad as some of the internet is saying. i loved kostas, and the song with jeezy (pardon my jeezy bias) is great too.
nya
how you like this more than you like pray for paris is beyond me
Absolutely insane indeed. It's hot trash.
no way he rated this higher than pray for paris lmao wow
He got the interview, things get biased.
it’s an OPINION
you would’ve given this a 5 if you didn’t interview him
I was looking for this comment lol
Hahah facts. He didn’t want the smoke.
No shot this is a step above mbdtf
😬👀
If that was the case, he wouldn’t have shat on Oliver Tree’s last couple records.
WSG is the most unique artist right now .. maybe not the most talented rapper, but if you like his style you will always find sth in his tracks which hits you off guard.
I love how extravagant JD wrist is. High art imo
For my first introduction to Westside Gunn, I loved the project. There were a few lows but the highs were really good. After a few listens, I disliked 2 tracks that I originally liked on my first listen but listening to the album in full still sounds good in my opinion. I would say there are 2 maybe 3 skips on the album and is quickly becoming my favorite record of the year. Solid 7-8 for my rating
Appreciate u happy holidays
No WAY this is better than pray for Paris.
Tis is tho
@@Ghostbustinno
True
absolutely not
Can't believe you didn't mention Babylon Bis, amazing track one of the best for sure
Best way to describe these Griselda guys is a perfect mixture of old and new school hip-hop. This project is unique but still mostly fits in that category
Hell nah, who told my man Gunn to switch from Boom Bap to Trap? They did him dirty in the studio. 😬😔
Wym he slid on the trap beats
@@yahboijason6246 I'm more used to Gunn doing Boom Bap than Trap. However, I respect that you enjoy him switching to Trap. I don't mind artists changing their styles.
He said in the interview with anthony that he himself felt like he wanted to do something else than boombap
@@yahboijason6246jd wrist 🔥
@yahboijason6246 I think gunn would be fire on trap beats... just not the trash ass ones he used on his album. Only one I liked was Jalen rose tbh.
Conductor we have a problem, Conductor we have a problem, Conductor we have a problem, Conductor we have a problem, Conductor we have a problem, Conductor we have a problem,
I know Kitchen Lights is getting a lot of focus. But 'Kostas' having Griselda, with Conway finishing the back half of the song, is one of the best on this album.
Conways verse was verse of the year for me. Man was floating on that beat
Mama's Primetime and Kitchen Lights are two of my favorite WSG tracks ever... Also we really need a new SGC album.
i did not think anthony would fw this but nice to see he does lol
Will you be reviewing the new Cattle Decapitation album, Terrasite?
Definitely prefer Pray for Paris. More consistent listen from the beat selection to the concise nature of the album
Pray for Paris was aight too many short ass songs that are barely 2 mins long but I still give it a listen every now and then
Chloe was a song that I instantly fell in love with. The beat is absolutely angelic and wasn’t a vibe I’d expect to hear from WSG.
You should listen to Whoopy and Love U
@@vidartornqvist7138 thanks for the recommendation. Do you have other albums to recommend? I only started listening to WSG since Donda because unreality liked his feature there and I’m working through his big discography one album at a time ever since.
Whoopy, Love U, Liz Loves Luger and Chloe are such romantic and mean songs at the same time. That’s why I love them so much. Its instrumental and flow is fire. 💕
@@fuckartyom god I hate this generation why am I apart of it
I just wish the lyrics weren't that corny
Was NOT expecting a 7 from fantantoe
8:08 is a great length for a rap album review, love it melon man:)
Ant, where did you get the AKIRA vinyl?
Kitchen Lights might be a top 5 WSG song fr.
This was my first time listening to Westside Gunn, and it definitely has multiple interesting moments, and Kitchen Lights is an unreal track, and I actually really love the outro track too as well as a couple others, but there were times where it felt sooo bloated. I never skip on a first listen but I was close with a couple of songs on here
what do you think of Your Old Droog's latest projects? For me his output in the 2020s so far has been the best out of anyone in hiphop really, definitely my favorite emcee
You're absolutely insane for rating this project higher than PFP.
WSG sounds genuinely awful on alot of these trap instrumentals, and some of the beats (esp by Miguel The Plug) was absolute trash.
3/10 is what I gave it in the end.
Fr I can't get past the trap beats they're god awful. I know he was purposely going for a badly mixed, authentic trap sound, but it's still awful. Jalen rose was the only one i can listen to
He gave HWH7 a 5 too. No way this album is better than HWH7
@@James-uw2xh ikr. Literally every other WSG project sounds like fuckin Illmatic compared to "Pray For Me"
I CANNOT believe you didn't even mention The Revenge of Flip's Leg, but ty for your thoughts
Kinda surprised he liked it considering the fan base is hating it
Wow this is higher than I thought it would be. I really didn’t care for this project other than like three songs.
Was literally listening to this finally on the bus, perfect timing Melon
i love the way he says hermes it just awoke something deep within me
Anthony, I want to see what you have to say about Coast contra apt 505
Anthony, I need you to review some “the incident” songs
Fantano be making me forget these reviews aren't live
I'm guessing we will not be getting that Dorian Electra review
I don't think an artist has grown on me as much as Westside Gunn. I loved his take on trap and it's a solid album. Nice review, mister fantano
You should start reviewing tiny desk performances! Or streaming reactions to them!
this might be my favorite record by gunn by far. the production is just so damn good man. also the denzel feature was sooo underrated :D
BABE WAKE UP THENEEDLEDROP POSTED ANOTHER REVIEW🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
Anthony, can you review the Tekken Tag Tournament soundtrack?
Absolutely loved this project
Honestly I think this is one of Westsides best projects in the past couple years. It’s different, versatile, experimental, features great guest appearances. There was maybe like 4 tracks I didn’t really rock with other than that it thought it was pretty solid.
Stove god is over 50% of all west's features and he's STILL not overplayed 🔥🔥🔥
Kitchen Lights and Babylon Bis could be the 2 best songs of the year
S/O to Tone for keeping it real even after Westside Gunn gave him a second interview. lol
Will you make a video on the bad bunny record?
Melon never fails to make my head hurt when spazzing big words at my dumbass
Look westside Gunn ain't gonna give you lyricism, but he knows how to procure a project. He essentially does what DJ Khaled wishes he could do. Beats are great, the whole album made me feel good. I loved it. It'll be in my top ten for hip hop.
We got the review for “And Then You Pray For Me” And Then You Review “The Patience” For Us next right
I've been digging this as well. kinda perplexed at the mixed reaction to it
the joint with rome streetz is the only one i will listen to again
Hard to imagine boom bap trap. I’m check it out tho. Thanks Anthony.
3:04 this is the gem of the whole review
I think all the stove god cooks appearances are westside forShawdoing a collab tape between them. Would be fire
That song with Rick Ross was so disappointing, that beat did not fit either of them at all
Is the bad bunny album taking longer because you need to translate the lyrics to give it a fair review
I would love for you to review Norman Saan's new album, "I Miss Mixtapes".
When are we getting the new bad bunny review? I’m at the edge of my seat 🇩🇴🙌🏾🇵🇷
Kostas was my favorite track on the album, that tay keith beat made me sweat. It has so much depth and really takes over your ears in a way that other trap beats rarely do. The instrumental for kitchen lights is beautiful, and my favorite bar from the album at the moment was stove god cooks with "we had a hundred bricks on the couch, it felt so good I wanted to die there" stove god and other features outshined flygod on this project, and I don't think wsg's rapping improved at all from previous projects. ll bool gunn is a bad song. chloe is a bad song. jalen rose bangs, love boldy, and house of glory has been stuck in my head all week
what about the offset album review???
I really enjoyed this album, I dont often listen to albums like it but I gave it a go and am so glad I did.
slauson malone review plzzzz
Can we get Sick Boi by Ren?
When is the Blonde Redhead album review coming?

-Kool Keith - Mr. Controller
-Rapsody - GOATED: Rapsody
-Bad Bunny - nadie sabe lo que va a pasar mañana
-Troye Sivan - Something To Give Each Other
-Gucci Mane - Breath of Fresh Air
1989 is one of my favorite tracks on the album!
Been long since I clicked a video so fast.
I wasn't fuckin with it at first but I love it the more I listen to it, a real grower on me personally!
Great album review.
This New Album is one of his best projects....those beats GOD DAMN.... West Side is different he proves he is one of Ressurectors of HIP Hop... big up WestSide....
Typically not much of a trap-rap fan (besides stuff like Trap Muzik by T.I.), but I think W$G put together a dope boom-bap/trap blend on some of these tracks. JD Wrist is a tad long, but it's still an ill track. I think that is actually Gunn doing the whispery hook on the Ross song.
It’s just called trap my guy
Estee Nack did his thing on JD Wrist is don’t know why people didn’t fuck with it. They all actually sounded like trap artists on a trap beat. But Nack’s flow reminds me of Smiley on his Organization track with Drake.
people hate on this album and I get it but I don't agree I love it and the sound not every track but for the most part it's great and this is like his true first time breaking away from the usual sound of griselda. defff after a few listens shit grew on me
3:04 that real trap shit vocal was legendary 😮
I thought that was Beanie Sigel when that whispered Estee Nack verse came on 😅
Can you do Mike’s new album Burning Desire?
The revenge of flips leg with Rome streetz is fucking insane. Top 10 Gunn joints
Anthony trippin, this album is a solid 4/10
Kitchen lights fire tho
I must have missed Benny's verse on Mamas Primetime lol
Oh snap Chloe is listed under favorite track(s). I knew you had a dirty mind fantano!!!😂
Glad he called out Stove god, need to drop an album ASAP, the world is waiting.
Thanks Anthony i can now like this project
Please don’t overlook the new Blonde Redhead album, just for the sake of exposure! They’re so underrated and deserve more attention
Good review melon
