I think Jane Child's "Don't Want To Fall In Love" was in 1990. It made the charts at #2 I believe. She was a brilliant and very underrated recording artist.

Awesome RUclips channel & I love hearing your take on so much of pop music history. I have ONE correction for you. In this video, you claim Janet's "Rhythm Nation 1814" was her second pop album. It was actually her fourth. Her first two LP's were "Janet Jackson" which was a minor hit and peaked at #63 in 1982 and "Dream Street" which was pretty much a dud, and stalled out at #147 in 1984.
I'm watching every one of your videos in order...you are a revelation to this music nerd! Escapade made me literally fall in love with Janet. And Blaze of Glory is a forgotten Bon Jovi gem!

With very little effort, I believe that Adam could totally pull off a decent Casey Kasem impersonation. Half of his speech patterns and announcer styles are already there. When ice ice baby came out, I was too "cool" for it and put it down now and then. As I've matured and gotten past labels, I will catch myself digging on it if it comes on......but I'm still too cool to search it out....🤣
Ahh, yes- 1990! The year I graduated from high school. Back in the day, there were certain songs that came out & I KNEW it was going to hit #1 the first time I heard it. 1990 had two of them: "Nothing Compares 2 U" by Sinead O'Connor & "Because I Love You (The Postman Song)" by Stevie B. When my sister heard the Stevie B song playing on my boom box, she asked me where it was on the top 40 countdown. I said, "It hasn't hit the charts yet, but it's going to #1." I was right. :D
I love music talk! Your channel is amazing, just subscribed. I love the music of 1990, there were so many genres around during that time - Pop, Dance, Heavy Metal, Adult Contemporary, Modern Rock, Quiet Storm, R&B, New Jack Swing, Rap, Dance, and one of my personal favorites (and rarely mentioned) Freestyle, we were spoiled with so many choices and that’s what makes it special.

There appears to be some similarities between the Depeche Mode section of this video and the Wikipedia article for Enjoy the Silence. Particularly the article’s quoting of Tim DiGravina’s review of the song. Coincidence?
The first time I've ever heard about the song written by Prince was on a radio station B96 if I remember correctly. We were on our way home from school. My sister took us to and from school. She even worked there. It was at St John's Lutheran School in Lansing. I remember hearing Ice Ice Baby at a Pizza Hut in Hammond IN. You know, when you go to any Pizza Hut in the 80's and 90's, you would always see a jukebox ready for you to play any song. 1990 was a big year for music.
Fantastic. Ice Ice Baby was released when I was 9 days old. I love these videos, all your content really is great. Not always my favorite artist or songs, but that's not the point for me.. I'm here for the music knowledge. So thanks so much for delivering every time.

Which I have a love-hate relation with it because I felt it was stolen from Under Pressure which I have a good story of, but I`ll save it for later. I have a cousin that lives in Miami, and he used to look just like Vainilla Ice. People sued to stop him to hake photos and ask for autographs, and some times he just played along. LOL. He even could dance like him, haha!
Hi Professor of Rock, with this video I am now a subscriber. Thank you for including Janet Jackson! She is and always will be a favorite of mine. Have you tried to get an interview with her? And I have to ask, when is The New Kids on the Block video coming? They cannot be denied. Thank you again for the great video!
1990 was also the year of the female artist at number one with chart-topping hits that year from Janet Jackson, Taylor Dayne, Wilson Philips, Jane Child, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Paula Abdul, and Whitney Houston.
I loved the Babyface/LA Reid group After 7's hits during this year: The ultimate R&B slow-jam "Ready or Not," and the catchy, head-bobbing mid-tempo track "Can't Stop."
Mid-October 1990, serving popcorn at church bingo. A's in the Series against the Reds. An older kid said he had to run to the store and did I want to go. I said sure, thinking I might be able to hear the game on the radio. Maroon Mustang 5.0 late model pulled up to the red light at Bernard and Route 11 and I said "Alright stop! Collaborate and listen." He said "You wana hear that song?" I said "Yeah." He taped it off the radio onto a Memorex cassette. On the way back from the store he asked, "What's the fastest you've ever gone?" Before I could say "I don't know." the g-forces pulled me back into my seat as the Mustang jumped. I watched the needle climb up and over 100mph. We were on the connector between Taft Road and the Mattydale exit. I put my hand out the window and it sailed right back to the doorframe. We walked back into the gym with 2 liters of root beer, cola, and ginger ale. I was a bit dizzy. The A's lost, but it was still pretty awesome.
I find that refreshing that music that was popular overseas also resonates with you. I lived in Europe during the eighties and I can tell you that the bands you love were stadium artists back in those days. Wondering what contemporary artists you like now? I think Blue October might be right up your alley.

MC Hammer actually went to No. 1 BEFORE Vanilla Ice on the Radio & Records chart in 1990 with U Can't Touch This. It was number one for a week in June of 1990 and was announced by Casey Kasem on his then new countdown show Casey's Top 40, which used the R&R chart.

Brian Webster it was a great song
1990 was also the year of the female artist at number one with chart-topping hits that year from Janet Jackson, Taylor Dayne, Wilson Philips, Jane Child, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Paula Abdul, and Whitney Houston.
High school graduation year...fantastic.
I'm revisiting some of your earlier . As always never a dud in the bunch. Thanks professor
That year Bon Jovi also aids Hall & Oates in gaining their final pop top 10, "So Close".
I loved the Babyface/LA Reid group After 7's hits during this year: The ultimate R&B slow-jam "Ready or Not," and the catchy, head-bobbing mid-tempo track "Can't Stop."
I'm on permanent rewind, 87-96...!
Dear Professor..can you do a special on the 80s Hair Metal/Hard Rock category...🤗😊😉
The "Professor of 80s Adult Contemporary Soft Rock" is expanding. I'm liking these videos way more.
Was Adamskis Killer a #1? Back in the day, I loved this song so much ... oh and The KLF with What Time Is Love, but that could be 89? I'm not sure
