Thanks for sharing this build.I really enjoyed when you compared the kit to the AMT kits for being slightly different from 100% correct to the original subject. The painting and weathering really make this look great!
Hey Oggie, I just finished watching the video. Sorry that I didn't catch any of the additional markings. I wasn't sure how deep down into the details you wanted to go. I also didn't see half of the things that you caught so I'm glad that you have the Eagle eye for those smaller details. Very interesting to learn that the model for the ship changed between seasons at least the markings did. It's a shame that they won't be a licensed version of this. At least we don't think so. You did an amazing job as always and I can't thank you enough.
Oh man, I love this! I love the new Jupiter 2 design. It is a shame that a commercially available kit will probably never be made. You did an excellent job on it as always. I've seen some for sale on Etsy in various sizes. I may have to get one.
Thanks so much for your kind comments. I thought they did a great job with the tech design on the show. From the J2 to the space suits it all looked fantastic. Thanks for watching.
This Jupiter 2 model, your build of it, is very nice. I'm glad that the files for this newest version of the Jupiter 2 are available for free. I wish I had a 3D printer. I've been thinking of getting one, but right now, there's no way use one in an apartment.
Thanks. Hopefully you’ll be able to get into 3D printing. This is just one of many things that are available for printing. Its added so much to our hobby. Thanks for watching
Beautiful little build , I really like the design . I'm going to try and drive up to Orange Con, I've never been . Hey, Spectacular Job on that Backdrop for Ken .
Thanks so much. Yes I definitely look forward to seeing Ken’s completed build. He’s worked so hard on it. He’s such a great meticulous builder too. Say hello at Orange con. Are you bringing any entries?
@@InterstellarModeler Hi Oggie, I'm in the middle of my build for the US GBWC competition which is taking every waking moment to get it done in time . I'll go up to Orange con with an entry if I'm in a good place . Definitely will say hi if I do.
It looks pretty good for what it is. Nice job👍. I also enjoyed the Netflix LIS mini series. It was a refreshing take on the original series, much like the SyFy BSG. The cinematography was top notch and really felt and looked like a big screen movie stretched out into the 3 season mini series. Although I wanted to see more, I think it was a good choice to stick to just 3 seasons. So, it was a clear story arc that wrapped up well at the end of S3 instead of dragging out for too many seasons... which may have made it too big and/or convoluted for a satisfying tidy ending.
The difference in the clear and orange 2 maybe difference in seasons. I know sometimes they will tweak the software and detail as the shows progress. Also sometimes difference between full size mockups versus models or CG models. This looks great though. I also really liked the Netflex show and was hoping they would have gone further with it.
The late Kevin Burns wanted the Jupiter 2 to look like the Millennium Falcon, he never did like the Saucer ship. well, Jupiter 2 will always be like the original!
Has that new camera got a narrow depth of field? It looks like the foreground is out of focus. Not sure if that's normal. Deeper depth of field makes the most of the HD. Might just be the lens. or maybe that's the look you are going for.
Hi. Yes I noticed that too. This is the first time using an SLR for this type of video capture. Didn’t realize till most of the way through that the fstop was where it was when I took the last picture, 5.6. This is what resulted in thay shallow depth of field you noticed. Should work better with a smaller aperture. Since its on a tripod it should be fine at lower light levels. Also noticed the white balance issue although it’s much better than the older camcorder. Appreciate the comments, thanks
@@InterstellarModeler My pleasure. I didn't know if you were familiar with depth of field etc. I suppose you know that ILM needed an aperture so small for the 1977 Star Wars Imperial Ship first flyover .. that they put a tiny pinhole in a sheet of paper and used that. Also, the Bond opening view though the gun barrel. same trick. They just got lucky and couldn't repeat it.. or so the story goes.
Great build! The new camera looks good, though it struggled with your pure white top. Maybe consider sharing some images with the file creator as a thanks? You misspelled your email address in the caption!
Thanks so much. Yes i actually contacted the designer prior to the buld and will be sharing pics with the build. Appreciate the compliments and for you watching
The kit looks good and turned out well. Questio, could the kit be printed with a complete top and a complete bottom like a saucer on a starters model? Also could you print landing legs and a ramp?
Thanks. I have no doubt you could create make such modifications but the one would have to be skilled with the software needed to do so. Appreciate you watching.
When you're watching the show, it doesn't feel like the Millennium Falcon, though. It feels more like the Prometheus, even though it doesn't look like it. I know it's strange, but the way it's used on screen and how people interact with it gives a very un-star wars feel.
@@KlingonCaptainI’m guessing from all the “it’s a millennium falcon wannabe” comments that nobody has ever seen the original lost on space TV series or the 1998 film. Look at the design of the ships in both and you’ll see where the design for the Netflix show came from. The original show ship was basically the 1950’s idea of a UFO, a big flying disc with tapered sides- engines at one end and a big front window at the other. The 1998 film is similar but rounds things off and stretches the ship out at the front where the window is. And finally the Netflix show basically sticks with this idea but sharpens it up, making it look less round and organic straightening the extension out too. Sure the Falcon may have been an influence but its design is clearly as much inspired by previous version of the Jupiter 2 as it is of the Star Wars ship!
Heyya Oggy, this was awesome. I would sure like to build this myself. Could i get the decals and reference shots from you, please? I'd sure appreciate this. I'll send you an email when i get home tonight.

Although I did like the new show, and did think it was fairly well written, there was one thing that really started to get on my nerves: Danger. Will. Robinson. For like three seasons, that's all it could say. Yes, I know it's a classic line from the original show, but after hearing it for like 50th time, I was wishing for it to learn something else. It learned that quickly enough, why wasn't it able to learn full English?

@@GraphicIllusionsStudios thanks….no worries about the other markings. They would’ve been pretty tiny. Thanks again
Thanks for the interesting journey. There are design features that pay homage to the original. Great to see them Side By Side.

It's a shame the creators of The Walking Dead didn't follow that. I assume the 49th spinoff will be called The Dead Horse We Keep Beating.
