    I skate cast Ronins, have to flip the washers for lower speed stuff and Street skating. I like the stability and how they slide predictably and regain traction. The precision trucks are really designed for high-speed downhill, 50 to 80 mph is where they shine. They are a top choice for racers because of that high speed performance.

    i had the cast Ronin Trucks and they are so good , Initially i did not like it since it was too stable since I used to skate Paris v1 and v2's .
    I ended up loving them , thanks for reviewing the Precision version,

    I have very limited experience with modern slalom style trucks so I could be way off base here. But I was an early adopter of trying slalom trucks for downhill back in 2007, my home made trucks sucked too much to give any serious use.
    Anyway, I'm pretty sure you need to ride over the front truck on every truck. I find slalom trucks to be more forgiving for people who's weight is in the middle of the board because they are less likely to steer away from you.
    Slalom trucks steer into you more than older generation downhill trucks, which lead to them fighting for your position and if you don't anticipate that you'll start to lose balance rearward and you'll slide or fall. But I always found the same practice of leaning forward in an agressive position to be the rule, you get no traction on early 2000 style rkps if you don't drive from the front. You oversteer. And going further back to the days of top trucks if you didn't drive the over the front you would wobble and not make it to the corner to begin with. I always set my board to steer into me (inward set axles whenever possible, de-wedged rear) and I would need to place my body in front of my trucks to exit corners so the board didn't push its way in front of me when pressuring me into the corner. If I didn't I'd wash out.
    It's not big criticism, your content is excellent! And you are definitely reiterating a highly important lesson that most new skaters don't seem to understand, (even after they have been told) It needs to be drilled into their heads time and time again. So I am very glad you keep mentioning it.

    • @downhill254skate

      124/134 would work best with most dh and freeride wheels ... except super sideset dh wheels like magnums

      @@downhill254skate Im currently riding the werwolf with 124mm trucks and even the magnums railmatch so it should also work with these. I just thought that the 114/124 would be interesting because you can make them smaller than what im used too. Nevertheless for freeriding 124/134mm seems better to me. I feel like the 124/134mm are the alrounders.

    Hey mate! I was looking for a cruiser with kicktail for a long distances. Loaded Omakase; v3 180mm, Stimulus 83a was the choice. Is it any good?
    I’m 170lbs, 5’10, 9US. I am sure deck must be able to ollie and slide - speed check/break - and be stable as fuuu because eventually I will hit some easy hills in my city. That beeing said, for most of the time I will cruise with my gf and use it for transportation to work. Trips we’re about to take will be atlast 3-5 miles long.
    Should I stick to Omakase or can you propose something less tankier, more light?

    • @downhill254skate
      @downhill254skate  2 года назад +1

      I'd go with 165mm trucks on the Omakase. With the tapering, and the wheel choice, the 165mm is just right.
      I'd also go with snakes instead of the stimulus. Snakes cruise well and slide better!
      I'd also suggest a randal 35* plate that you can buy here - www.sk8kings.com/randal-baseplate-parts-35d-42d-or-50d-one-baseplate.html at skatekings
      The low angle plate goes in the back and will make the ride more stable. This is key if you plan on bombing this deck. it has a relatively tiny wheelbase for a board you want to go fast on. It will also make commuting and generally riding a bit easier.
      Omakase is a good choice with the right setup

    • @tesone6783
      @tesone6783 2 года назад +1

      My two Cents are: wide trucks are stable and all but I sometimes feel they take away some of the fun. Maybe it is just me but if you need more stability for downhill then just tighten your trucks a bit. For normal commuting I like it a bit more snappy. So I too would go for the 165 and put a skatetool into your backpack. I have several different boards and I mostly go for the smaller snappier boards. I live in a city with rough streets and steep hills but snappier setup are just more fun.

      I came across a company, Rocket Longboards and I thought of building my own board basing on your comment. We are taking Omakase aparat anyway.
      Their decks models seems just perfect ~32x9” with a kicktail. Classic Scout or DH Scout (enchanced for high speed)
      Can you help me out with the setup?
