Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is at my top 10 list, Xenoblade Chronicles is my nr. 1 game. wanna play all the others monolith soft games, but I am waiting for the remakes. Hope I wont wait in vain.
@@Softlol I wouldn't count too much on Xenosaga remakes since Monolith worked on it with Namco before it became Bandi Namco so there might be issues with rights, but I can totally see A Xenoblade Chronicles X Switch port. I think one of the devs said they would do it if money wasn't an issue and the amount of time it would take to move a massive game like that from the Wii U to the Switch.
@@matthewwylie2735 Yeah figured it would be a problem when they worked with Namco. And as Monolith is now helping with BotW 2, I doubt they have time for X atm. Guess I just have to play Xenosaga. Have heard great things about them.
Just make sure you play Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive edition first. Saying anything more can spoil story elements. It is a series that needs to be experienced.
@@crescendyr8438 You can play XC1 if you want to, DE polished the first game after all. I didn't play the first one at the time, I didn't really see myself playing it, I was busy with Skyward Sword and The Last Story so at least for me it was a very refreshing story. I wasn't that hooked on XCDE as I was with XC2 but definitely it's a super entertaining game.
@@augustorojas9371 There will be no spoilers, but the combat in X isn't explained very well (or at all). It is quite similar to the combat in the first game, so I'd recommend at least getting familiar with that game before playing X.
If Xenoblade fans love anything more than the games themselves, it's seeing new people experience the series themselves for the first time. Edit: you can pretty much start anywhere, though if you want the ending of Xenoblade 2 to hit harder, it's better to play 1 first. X isn't directly connected to 1 and 2 so you can play it first if you'd like.
What's funny is I think from a chronological or more explicative standpoint, it would logically be better to play Xenoblade 2 first. But as you said, the ending of Xenoblade 2 certainly hits harder if you played Xenoblade 1 first. And it could potentially ruin a part of your experience of Xenoblade 1 to play it this way if you're very insightful.
i guess im randomly asking but does anybody know a tool to log back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid lost my password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
@Levi Dominik I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
14:31 Dee Bee Geek : "It gives me the feeling that it's a huge open-world" Xenoblade chronicles X have actually a map 5,31 times larger than Breath of the Wild's map (X.C.X. = 154 sq.mi and B.O.T.W.= 29 sq.mi)
Definetely start with Definitive Edition. Xenoblade 2 can technically be played on it's own, but you won't fully understand everything unless you play the 1st one. X can be played at any point though since it has no story connection to the other 2.
a recommended path would definitely be: Definitive -> Xc2 -> Torna -> Future Connected (since he already has a switch and not the wii consoles. then wait for an X port or potentially buy a WiiU to play X after he finishes all before mentioned
@@areallymeanperson Endbringer isn't the final boss of FC, it is a Telethia in X that rescues Elma's party at one point. The Telethia that rescues Shulk and the others during Future Connected is heavily implied to be Endbriger, as the scene in which he appears perfectly mirrors the one in X and they also have the same unique form. The Fog King instead is more of a callback to Xenosaga and the concept of Gnosis.
Fun fact: We almost never got the series at all. Back when the og version was being made, there were no plans to bring it to the US. But a petition was made to garner support for it. Nintendo of America's current president at the time, Reggie, saw it and got to work. And the game even sold very well.
Quick question; does XBC get better later in the game like XBC2? I have made it to the hips of the Bionis, and don't find the combat complex enough to be fun(like XBC2 is later in the game). I might keep playing if it gets more complex and fun, but I haven't been enjoying XBC nearly as much as XBC2 so far.
If you wanna know just how incredible these games are, just listen to the music of the first game's title screen. No seriously, even just the TITLE SCREEN is one of the best pieces of music i've ever heard! Just imagine what the actual game has in store
"Well yes, but actually no" meme: What's my purpose? Monolith Fandom: Explain if the Xeno titles are connected each other "Well yes, but actually no" meme: *OH MY GOD*
@@doddynuryanto3800 I mean no; all the Xeno games do fit into the Perfect Works outline for continuity: Saga = Episode 1(First Half), Gears, Xc1, Xc2 = Episode 5, XcX = Episode 6, and Xc2TGC = Episode 4. I mean, if you actually read the perfect works episode summary, it’s basically this narrative by narrative, with XcX being the only relative exception because episode 6 is fairly undefined, except for it’s symbolic and philosophical quantities which align with XcX alone.
The only connection they have is "spiritual". Everyone mentions "Perfect Works", but seriously, have you actually READ the thing? Yes, there are some similarities, but as soon as you stop speaking in the abstract, the stories just don't fit.
One thing that a lot of people credit Xenoblade Chronicles 1 with was redefining and revitalizing the JRPG Genre. All three games are incredible, 1 is often credited with having the best story, While 2's aren't far behind. and X (in my opinion), has one of the best worlds in modern Gaming, only really competing with BotW (Which monolithsoft also worked on). It also has the most expansive battle mechanics such that even now, six years later people like Enel (a RUclipsr) are still finding ways to make new combat builds. 2 isn't a slouch either, it takes a lot of elements from both 1 and X and refines them. and, while a lot of people say that 1 is better because of it's story, I would say that 2 has a better combat system (The consequences of 2 previous iterations), though I don't think it reaches quite as high as X's (but that's ok because it keeps things fresh that they decided to take things in a different direction). Unfortunately combat takes a while to really get interesting and as a result the early game sections (Especially the prologue) can be a bit of a slog combat wise sadly. But it does get really, and I mean really, nuanced and involved. If you were to play them in any order; I'd say that it doesn't really matter, except that I would suggest playing 2 before Torna because Torna tends to spoil a bit of 2's story, and vice versa, but that makes sense because it's meant to be a stand alone DLC. (And speaking of DLC, the Expansion pass for XC2 is actually well worth it because, not only do you get a bunch of extra quests and other things as well as a challenge mode, but you also get the Torna DLC without needing to shell out another $50). X can be played Whenever since the only connection it has to the rest of the series are its gameplay elements and a bunch of themes. It does, or at least it's implied to, exist in the same multiverse as the other games though. It is my favourite of the titles, though it was also the first game in the series that I played. The story isn't nearly as strong as the other two, partially because it has the freest open world of the series, and partially because the focus of the game *is* its world and gameplay moreso than the story. It's still a good story, but not as good as it could have been as a result of needing to rewrite the entire thing partway into development to make way for certain game mechanics. Monolith pulled it off well, but it's not as great as it could have been. And the music in all of these games are amazing, that's all I'm going to say. There are some divisive tracks, particularly in X, but that's purely a matter of preference. Now for some fun facts about the series and Monolith itself: Xenoblade Chronicles is actually a spiritual successor of Tetsuya Takehashi's original work Xenogears which was originally conceived as part of the Final Fantasy franchise, though the direction of Square-soft made it become its own thing. Eventually he and his wife left Square and founded Monolith-soft under Namco where they made the Xenosaga games for the Playstation. Eventually, frustrated that he couldn't realize his creative vision, he left Namco and Monolithsoft became a second Party development studio for Nintendo under Satoru Iwata. When he first showed Xenoblade to Satoru it was titled Monado: Beginning of the world, but Iwata san suggested he change it to Xenoblade as a way to pay homage to his previous works. The original Xenoblade was meant to only release in Japan originally because apparently Nintendo didn't think that American fans would like it very much. However, after the game was confirmed for release in Europe a campaign named operation Rainfall was created as a way for us to get the game here in the America's where the European version was released in limited supply here in the Americas... Apparently Nintendo didn't anticipate their entire supply being sold like hotcakes. Anyway, long comment aside the TL,DR is: Great games, you should play them. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
One correction: the Operation Rainfall had nothing to do with the original Xenoblade being released in Europe. Operation Rainfall started AFTER the game was confirmed for Europe. Nintendo of Europe was always going to release it in there. It was Nintendo of America the one that didn't want to at first.
I'd honestly say Xenoblade Chronicles X completely blows BotW out of the water. It's so much bigger and you don't fight 5 variations of the same 4 enemies as an excuse for actual content. Xenoblade Chronicles X is absolutely _bleeding_ with variety.
@@XanderVJ Fixed, thank you for the correction. @TheAbsol, yeah I agree. I was merely pointing out that Monolith had a hand in BotW's world development. The enemy variety and sheer number of combat options in X really blows the repetitiveness of fighting Bokoblins over and over with the occasional Moblin thrown in. Heck, even fighting Lynels becomes repetitive after a while once you lear their combat patterns and can just flurry dodge or perfect guard all of their attacks and all they become are damage sponges. And don't get me started on the Blights, they were interesting in concept but their execution was just so samey. Xenoblade Chronicles X on the other hand has tons of great enemy and boss encounters. As well as all the Tyrants and tons of different Super Bosses.
@@dragonmaster1500 I love BotW, but it definitely has a lot of issues that I really hope are fixed in the sequel. I hope BotW2 will be _half_ as good as XCX.
Hopefully he decides to play each masterpiece found in this series Edit: now that I realise I have one of the top comments in likes, I say you play Xenoblade Definitive Edition First, Followed by Xenoblade 2, Then finish off with Xenoblade X (hopefully a switch port comes soon). 1-2 should be played together since they're both easy to access on switch. While X is only on Wii U, although a switch port is very likely so I say wait on that
@@doitsu8947 I mean saying 2 games are "connected" isn't really that much of a spoiler. If he straight up said how they were connected it would be. It's better he play them in that order for that very reason so when he finds out how they're connected it's easier to make that connection.
@@doitsu8947 Before 2 came out, the devs did mention that they'd be related, but never in what way. I wouldn't say that saying their related is too much of an issue.
pretty sure the devs mentioned in an interview that a port of X would be too much of an undertaking at the moment. I would love a port, but I don't know if I would say it's "very likely"
Dude, I'm just playing Xenoblade now, it's a shame I got spoiled on most plot points, but it's still extremely engaging. I bet this would be mind blowing if I enter blind.
I've been spoiled because of what's in Smash (and also because I've actually already played Xenoblade 2) but even then, I couldn't have predicted HALF of what's happened in the game thus far. @@cupcakkerares I tend to take my time in rpgs, but don't go full completionist, just sort of doing side quests along the way or exploring a bit if I get curious...otherwise I let the story drive me. Xenoblade DE clocked me in at around 100 hours. And that's only thanks to the quality of life changes that probably shaved a good 20-30 hours off my time. I can't remember my original base Xenoblade playtime. And XC2 and X is similar.
Each game has a pretty self contained story, but I'd still recommend playing through them in order. X can really be fit in wherever, but at least play definitive edition before 2.
For a little of meta backstory, Monolith Soft was born of a group of people at Square giving a pitch for a FF game, I think it was 7. It was rejected but became Xenogears. They left because Square was not interested on new IPs. Namco took them and made the Xenosaga series. They also made a cross over series Namco x Capcom now expanded as Project X Zone with Sega and a little of Nintendo in the latest one. Because they felt the game was selling low and a few wise words from Nintendo, they went with them and made the first Xenoblade
You are correct! Takahashi was the combat programmer for Chrono Trigger and since he did such a good job he was allowed to pitch the story he and his wife Soraya Saga (pen name) came up with for FFVII. Sakaguchi didn't think it fit as a FF game but signed off for Xenogears instead! Takahashi's connection to Chrono Trigger is why Lucca makes a cameo at the beginning of Xenogears.
Nintendo actually acquired Monolith Soft from Namco and who would of thought it would turn out to be their biggest developer acquisition in years at the time.
I couldn't believe it when this video came in my sub box. Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition is my favorite game ever and I would love if you played it on here! To answer a few of your questions, Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition is a remake of the original first game. Xenoblade Chronicles X is like its own separate spin-off and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles 1. Definitive Edition & 2 are more story driven games and X is more about exploring. Technically you could play them in any order but I suggest you start with Definitive Edition since you'll see what Xenoblade games are like from that and become familiar with the combat as both X and Xenoblade 2 use that foundation and add upon it. Plus if you beat Xenoblade Definitive Edition the ending of Xenoblade 2 will be way more mind-blowing and you'll enjoy it a lot. Really hope you give this series a try!
I still haven’t played Xenoblade, but wasn’t the Mechonis the one with Mechanical Rhythm as its battle theme? Why aren’t we letting its word spread instead?
Trivia of Monolith Soft you didn't mention (or perhaps you didn't know): Monolith Soft was founded by members of Square who worked on games back during the SNES/PS1 era. One of those games happened to be Xenogears. Back then, the team who worked on Xenogears wanted to do a sequel, but Square was all focused on Final Fantasy, so that team left (after working on Chrono Cross) to form Monolith Soft late 1999 under Namco. There the team worked on a spiritual followup to Xenogears, Xenosaga. Monolith Soft was originally promised creative freedom with Namco, but after Bandai merged with Namco, there was a feeling the new owners wouldn't be so generous. So in 2007 Monolith Soft went with Nintendo feeling they could maintain their creative spirit under them. Where does Xenoblade fit into this? In truth, it wasn't intended to be a successor to Xenosaga or Xenogears, as it was originally planned to be called Monado: Beginning of the World. It was renamed Xenoblade just to honor their previous work. Of course, when Xenoblade became successful, the followup games have alluded to elements from the earlier Xeno titles. Xenoblade 2 in-fact has some guest characters from Xenosaga.
I would start playing in this order: XC Definitive Edition XC2 XC2 Torna Play X whenever you want the mechs. It's has no relation to the other games officially atm. If you're still craving more after all that then check out the Xenogears and Xenosaga games. They're not related either but they're the predecessors to the xenoblade games. Enjoy! I know you'll love them all!
As someone who has played all games in the series, here's my recommendation: For reasons I won't go into, please, please, please do yourself the favor and play Xenoblade 1 before Xenoblade 2. Xenoblade X can be played at any point, technically even in between the first and second one, as that was the original order in which the games were released. Xenoblade X is different compared to 1 and 2. It is very (!) exploration-based, and has a huge open world, but is less heavy on its main story. Xenoblade 1 and 2, while still offering great exploration, are much more story-driven. So my recommended order would be: 1. Xenoblade 1 (+ Future Connected) 2. Xenoblade 2 3. Torna ~ The Golden Country Xenoblade X: either at the very beginning; between 1 and 2 (though less recommend, because 2 should be experienced with 1 still fresh on one's mind); or after Torna.
good way to sum it up, but for people that played the games in order of release, X came out between 1 and 2. I would agree through, 1 then 2 is ideal, X has a simpler story and you are right the exploration is the real star to that game even moreso than the others which says a lot bc the world Xenoblade games are all good, but X just nails the exploration aspect while the story is where less of the focus is.
I actually played the games backwards. 2 first, then X, then 1 when it came out on Switch. Honestly 1 was my least favorite (definitely not saying it's bad! I just enjoyed the other 2 more). Had I entered the series with 1 I don't know that I would've stuck with it. 2 hooked me with the story and combat.
@@dfre102 as far as storytelling, tutorials, music, and character development, I don't think its close, XC1 nailed these things. X had the best exploration, especially when you get Skels. XC2 felt a little rushed and not as polished as it could have been and had a cop out ending, good game, but very flawed, IMO
One thing i love is that the announcer for britains got talent and Xfactor is the guy who voiced the high entia emporor. They made the same guy who shouts "ooglies" at the begining of ooglies an emporor lmao
Xenoblade chronicles 1 and 2 are connected story wise for a reason (but it would be a spoil to say why) but both can be played independantly. Xenoblade chronicles 2 : Golden country is from the expansion pass but is a also a prequel to xenoblade chronicles 2 (it takes places many years before) Xenoblade chronicles X is it's own thing, there's a few similarities here and there like the nopon race among other thing, but it's a different story altogether.
Torna Golden Country builds on the lore of XC2 by having characters that XC2 referenced. Should be played last and viewed more as prequel DLC than a fully fledged game.
you should play it for yourself, watching a series about it will ruin the experience if you ever decide to play it as all of the Xenoblade games except maybe X are very story focused.
Christopher It’s from the guys that were making the open world of Breath of the Wild. Watch a video of the overworld of Xenoblade Chronicles X here on RUclips and you will the potential of Monolith Soft if you give them more than 2 years for a game lol
Dude I love KH and was happy when u gave them a chance, but damn now u gonna check out Xenoblade, mad respect, I freaking love Xenoblade w a passion, I haven't gotten to play X but I'm holding hope I can get to it someday.
Fun facts Monolith Soft and Square Enix used to be combined and called square soft. They eventually split sometime after xenogears was made. Xenogears was originally an idea for ff7 but was scrapped. They even left an Easter egg of Cloud saying the word Xenogears when he has mako poisoning in Mideel.
The Xenoblade Chronicles X exploration trailer gets me everytime lol. I played that game to death, it's so fun. The world is massive. It has 5 continents and you can explore everything as soon as you start the game. Obviously some areas are dangerous if you're low level but you can literally just explore the map as soon as you start the game. A good thing to point out is the map is 400 squared kilometers big and no loading screens.

@@Magic0YT hmm didn't think of it that way. It's just so weird to see stuff from like more then halfway through the game in a trailer. And the torna trailer! But I suppose if he plays 1 first he'll undoubtedly forget everything he saw about 2
It's not really spoilery considering you can't understand anything without context, especially certain scenes that are spliced together and seem to be related but aren't, or lines that are played over scenes where they're not actually relevant. This is specially true of 2 which uses a lot of in-game terminology that is meaningless to blind watchers.
Each Xenoblade Chronicles game is primarily self-contained. Some games have loose connections and references to other games, but much like Final Fantasy, each Xenoblade game can be enjoyed no matter the order you play them in. Xenoblade Chronicles X is my personal favorite game in the series, and it has an entirely unique story that's mainly a successor to the first Xenoblade Chronicles in terms of scope and gameplay. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is probably the best starting point in my opinion, but all games work as a starting point and are all fantastic games.
Both Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 are amazing games and I still can't believe they gave BOTW best soundtrack even though Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was released that same year. I played BOTW last year and literally have zero recollection of the music,
If I was angry that Xc3 lost soundtrack to God of War, I am angrier now that I know this. I love Botw, but it is FAAAAAAR from having a ost better than Xc2... Tga is a popularity contest
Yeah, just forget everything you just saw on those trailers, and start playing XCDE right now lol. And don't try to get more info, or if they're connected, they're like FF games, some things in common. Better just play them right away. The order I recommend is XCDE, XCX, XC2+Torna and last XCDE:FC. Oh, yeah, and they (MonolithSoft) collaborated on BOTW, the exploration and topography gives that away.
@@o15ika Cool. I was just worried there might be spoilers for XC2 since you recommend ending on it, as I plan to get it eventually, but can't right now.
1, X, and 2 all have largely standalone stories. There are some minor lore connections in the "if you know, you know" variety, but you can technically play them in any order. You will get a little bit more out of it if you play them in release order, but it won't break your experience not to because the stories are all disconnected. You will eventually get the lore connections no matter what order you play them in.
Monolithsoft was formed from ex-Square employees, some of which worked on Chrono Trigger, who's director created Xenogears for Square alongside his wife. The plot for Xenogears was originally pitched to be Final Fantasy VII. Monolithsoft was owned by Bandai-Namco for a time and created XenoSaga, Soma Bringer, Baten Kaitos and the crossover series Project X Zone. The second X Zone game was released while owned by Nintendo and contains Xenoblade and Xenosaga characters interacting with the likes of Ryu and Chun-Li.
Having been a fan of the series ever since Xenogears, it makes me so happy that more people can actually play and enjoy these games. Definitely going to watch your first time playing these amazing games.
@@El_Surge Bandai would probably be willing to let monolith do a xenosaga remake considering how much they love putting KOS-MOS in nearly all of their games and allowed her to be in XC2 and that the final boss in future connected is a gnosis. The problem is square wants people to forget that xenogears ever existed to the point that they would strike and suppress any mention of the game or its characters. It’s super sad that they’re doing this, could you imagine xenogears with today’s technology?
@@alonesometravler9343 Bandai considered it. They decided that it wasn't financially viable, and Monolith Soft has Xenoblade now which...well... _spoilers_
Xenogears could probably benefit more from a modern remake than any other game I can think of as in it never felt quite finished. Its true greatness was never fully realized.
IDK if you’ll see this but the Xenoblade Chronicles franchise is my favorite video game franchise period and so I hope you love it too. I love the series to death and have nearly every game to 100% completion, but it could be very confusing to someone going in blind. Essentially each game is it's own separate story and can *technically* be played in any order. However the order I would recommend playing the series is: Xenoblade 1 definitive edition, Xenoblade 2, Xenoblade 2 Torna, Xenoblade Future Connected and Xenoblade X can be played anywhere between. Torna is a direct prequel to Xenoblade 2 but like Star Wars, you want to experience the prequel after the original. Future Connected is a direct epilogue (or sequel) to 1 Definitive Edition but because they made it after 2, there are a lot of nods to 2 that you won’t be able to really appreciate without having played 2.
Xenoblade 1 and 2 are much more similar in that they're a more linear JRPG (with open world elements) that is much more character and story focused while X is a spinoff that is a fully open world game that is much more focused on exploration and side quests with a very light story. Also 1 and 2 are also more fantasy esque while X is purely sci-fi. I also recommend looking up a few guides on builds and combat because it can be confusing to someone who's never played before and could potentially affect your enjoyment of the game. One of the few criticisms I have is that they do not do a good job with the tutorials beyond giving a very rudimentary understanding of the mechanics. Side note, you can play in whatever language you like but I personally really like the English dubs, despite how much people dump on the Xenoblade 2 English cast. I especially enjoy the wide range of accents in 1 and 2 that you can't get with the Japanese dub. Some other fun facts, Monolith soft have been one of the most important dev teams for Nintendo and have worked on many games aside from just Zelda, which include games like Splatoon and Animal Crossing. The composers for the main numbered games are ACE+ and most of the super highly praised music in Smash has been composed by them including the Halland remix for Minecraft and Gangplank Galleon. The composer for X was Hiroyuki Sawano who is one of the most famous anime composers alive and has composed for anime like Attack on Titan, Gundam, and Kill la Kill.
This is my favorite Nintendo franchise alongside Legend of Zelda. Hope you enjoy it! I suggest playing Definitive Edition, then 2, then Torna. I haven't played X as I didn't have a Wii U, but rest assured it is not at all required to play the ones on Switch.
adam howden, the va for shulk (the blonde dude, main character of xenoblade 1) popped OFF. all of the VAs are incredible, but he in particular was just amazing. [spoilers below, dont read unless youve played the game] . . . . . the voice acting during the part when youre on the mechonis and the monado starts electrocuting him caught me completely off guard. it sounded like he was getting fucking tortured in the recording booth. rip to his throat after doing that bit.
Today marks 6 months since Dee reacted to all Xc trailers! I’m excited for you to finish the game finally next week! Thank you so much for this beautiful journey Dee! ❤️🎮❤️
You can also find BotW gear in Skyrim, so there's at least _some_ association between The Elder Scrolls and Xenoblade, which very weird to think about.
Every Xenoblade game is standalone and takes place in a different world and setting, there are some conections but those can be made playing the games in any order
Xenoblade 2 has the most .... emotional rollercoaster of an 3rd act in any game I've played. Episode 7 on is just beyond amazing and I'm sure any one who played it, or even watched Etika play it, knows what I'm talking about. Bravo Monolith Soft. Fair warning, the middle part of XC2 does drag a little, but by God is it worth it. And don't get me started on Torna, I was obsessed the whole time.
This would be an amazing series to see his reactions to, the "order" would definately be release order of 1, X, then 2. But the only games that are somewhat connected are 1 and 2 so you can play those first and save X for last. These games are beautiful, emotional, the characters are amazing and the combat is super addicting. I can't recommend this series enough. They absolutely deserve the attention.
Helps that not spoiling Xenoblade is basically an unwritten rule of gaming internet culture. I mean the entire community just naturally started referring to Seven as Seven entirely organically. If there is one thing JRPG gamers know about Xenoblade it's that you dont spoil Xenoblade. It's like Fight Club, the number one rule of Xenoblade is dont spoil Xenoblade
all of the games are standalone stories, but I'd say to play in this order: 1. Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (the english dub for this one is let's just say *controversial* so u might want to consider going with subtitles) 3. Xenoblade Chronicles X X is sort of its own spinoff, it has much more focus on exploration than story
The English dub is perfectly fine. Let's stop propagating this idea that all of the voice work in English is terrible. While the Japanese may be more consistent I would argue that the English dub has the best quality performances. Rex's VA is very good in most situations. Everyone is serviceable save for for Nia and Morag who are utterly incredible. And that's not including the members who are for the most part extremely good. I cannot listen to Nia in anything other than a Welsh accent, that's how good her VA is.
@@golfer435 I didn't say it was bad, in fact I enjoy it a lot. All I was saying is that a lot of people don't like the English dub so he should consider both options
Xenoblade X was the first breath of the wild. No limits to exploration, literally go to every nook and cranny of the world. While botw had gliding, xenoblade x literally had flying. It's also enormous and full of secrets. Here's hoping for a switch port
I remember showing a friend the opening cutscene for XC1 and he assumed the Bionis and Mechonis were bosses. Needless to say, his mind was blown when I told him that was the land beneath your feet.
personally I started with 2 and it is my favorite xeno story, for the emotional impact of the story, but prob the coolest thing about the stories are the endings and I don't wanna say too much. I think you can play them in either order and the extent to which they are connected is just something that needs to be experienced. If anything, I personally got the sense that Xenogears was actually connected to both 1 and 2, but there is a lot about the lore I don't know. I believe I've read somewhere that Takahashi [and his wife] wrote a huge series and these games are just parts of it. The stories do stand on their own though. You will see.
I’d suggest playing Definitive > Definitive Future Connected (called Extra Story on the main menu) > Xenoblade 2 > Xenoblade 2 Torna > Xenoblade X They’re not so much direct sequels as sequels in spirit (but Torna is the prequel to 2). Highly recommend at least playing the first game first because it’s the easiest to grasp. But do not, and I mean ABSOLUTELY DO NOT PLAY FUTURE CONNECTED WHILE PLAYING THE MAIN GAME. Combat is basically live action, though not really Kingdom Hearts level (don’t quote me on this, I’ve only really seen gameplay of KH). And, oh boy. You are in for a visual and auditory TREAT. The art style and music of EVERY GAME is SO AMAZING! It’s hard to even pick a favorite, they’re all masterpieces in their own ways. Can’t wait until you start playing this! Edit: Try your best to stay away from any more videos, spoilers are everywhere (though it is almost impossible to do that, I got spoiled on 2 thinking I was just watching a funny meme video).
@@kanota17 That’s for him/the fans to decide. I haven’t actually played Torna yet, but you don’t really lose much if you don’t play the prequel before the main game.
@@kanota17 Torna may take place before the main game, but you won't be able to appreciate it if haven't at least played most of the main game. It also spoils things from the main game that are revealed later on, so it's best to play it after.
Also; the games are connected, but they're anachronistic: I'd still recommend playing the blade games in order, mostly because Xc1 is the most independent narrative, while the other games all rely on heavy lore from Xc1 as well as the prior entries-- this includes the other Xeno games, such as gears and the 9 saga games (only 3 of which got released in the west, which were the main 3); although I’d wait on playing gears or saga till after the blade games, since I might’ve been a bit confusing saying “play in order” and “gears and saga” which did technically come out prior to Blade. Also, I personally recommend playing Torna between ch7/8 of xc2 since that was when you were meant to play it. I also have testimony from a professional British Twit of this being the best way to experience Torna. Future Connected should imo be after Xc1 for sure, but also either after the first half of xcx and maybe all of xc2 because spoils. As for gears and saga; for now I'd recommend finishing the blade games before addressing the other episodes of _Perfect Works_
Yes, I also recommend tackling the more easily accessable games before going for the older games in the Xeno franchise if at all. While not all the general themes are covered yet in the Xenoblade games, I'm confident that XC3 and XCX2 are going to drop some pretty big ones when they eventually come. And whichever the next Xenoblade game is coming next, it's already pretty far in development so it's not going to be a massive wait.
The first Xenoblade Chronicles game is absolutely in my top three favorite games of all time it is an absolute masterpiece and playing on switch for the first time is the best way to play it
--In Terms of connection Xenoblade 1 & 2 have connections. Xenoblade X has small refs to the original but it's own thing. Story driven for 1 & 2. Can't say more than just small details since you can easily get spoiled. The concept of them both involves Titans. If you played the Playstation game "Xenosaga", Then you'll get a nice surprise in Xenoblade 2.
None of the games is a direct sequel or prequel to the others, but they are all connected by... something. X is open world, from the moment you start it you can go anywhere and do anything, you can legit get too overpowered for the main story before even starting it, everything in sight is also explorable, there are no invisible walls, tough there are some areas that are inaccessible until you get the flying mech. 1 and 2 are open area, the plot has a linear progression so you won't be able to go to new areas until you're done with the previous one but the areas are massive and exploring them fully takes a lot of time and once they're unlocked you'll continuously come back for more quests and to explore previously inaccessible places.

Magic 0 I guess you could say by showing him these games we showed him a thing or three...
This is why I love the xeno community, I would definitely say I hope deebee becomes one with this geeky community one day
@@dragonmaster1500 I love BotW, but it definitely has a lot of issues that I really hope are fixed in the sequel. I hope BotW2 will be _half_ as good as XCX.

Trivia of Monolith Soft you didn't mention (or perhaps you didn't know):
Monolith Soft was founded by members of Square who worked on games back during the SNES/PS1 era.

Xenoblade 1 and 2 are much more focussed on story while Xenoblade X is mostly focused on exploration
With the "story" largely going on only in sidequests
As someone who has played all games in the series, here's my recommendation:
For reasons I won't go into, please, please, please do yourself the favor and play Xenoblade 1 before Xenoblade 2.
So my recommended order would be:
1. Xenoblade 1 (+ Future Connected)
2. Xenoblade 2
3. Torna ~ The Golden Country
Xenoblade X: either at the very beginning; between 1 and 2 (though less recommend, because 2 should be experienced with 1 still fresh on one's mind); or after Torna.
good way to sum it up, but for people that played the games in order of release, X came out between 1 and 2.
I played your list entirely backwards... 1.Torna
2.XBC2
3.XBCDE
I am holding out for X because I don't wanna buy an entire console for 1 game.

Xenoblade chronicles 1 and 2 are connected story wise for a reason (but it would be a spoil to say why) but both can be played independantly.
Xenoblade chronicles 2 : Golden country is from the expansion pass but is a also a prequel to xenoblade chronicles 2 (it takes places many years before)
Xenoblade chronicles X is it's own thing, there's a few similarities here and there like the nopon race among other thing, but it's a different story altogether.
Torna Golden Country builds on the lore of XC2 by having characters that XC2 referenced. Should be played last and viewed more as prequel DLC than a fully fledged game.
I would LOVE to see a series about Xenoblade, I don't know a lot about Xenoblade, but it seems amazing
you should play it for yourself, watching a series about it will ruin the experience if you ever decide to play it as all of the Xenoblade games except maybe X are very story focused.
Christopher It’s from the guys that were making the open world of Breath of the Wild. Watch a video of the overworld of Xenoblade Chronicles X here on RUclips and you will the potential of Monolith Soft if you give them more than 2 years for a game lol

Every Xenoblade has something to offer. Favorite franchise. Xenoblade 2 is my favorite game of all time. Highly recommend it.
While XC2 is my third favourite game of all time, XCX is my favourite game of all time (with Zelda BOTW in the middle)

Cool, I just started Xenoblade Chronicles on the Switch. Loving it so far!

I’m playing Xenoblade Chronicles after exactly 10 years, on my Switch, and i have to say that it’s still the great and amazing game i used to absolutely LOVE the first time i played it. I got chills just from hearing the intro theme again. 🖤
Damn never noticed how spoilery the trailers for these games were especially 2
since he hasn't play any game before and barely knows about each of them is very interesting that for us is spoiler but once is blind play through is barely noticed. In fact is more of an "okay looks good" first thought
OH MY GOD! I just played this game, and was going to say you had to play it, but thought it would better to wait until you were done with Zelda
Same
Both Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 are amazing games and I still can't believe they gave BOTW best soundtrack even though Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was released that same year.
As someone who can't afford XC2 at the moment, how important would say it is to leave Future Connected?
@@VTEySAG it’s just an epilogue for XC1 so no worries!
Pretty sure 1 and 2s connection are a fair bit more direct than that.

@@Magic0YT same, it's fucking incredible.
XC1 is easily my top 10 of all time and easily the best JRPG I have ever played.
I agree with everyone here!
Too bad xenografts and xenosaga probably won't see the light of day again. I wish I could easily play them
@@El_Surge Bandai would probably be willing to let monolith do a xenosaga remake considering how much they love putting KOS-MOS in nearly all of their games and allowed her to be in XC2 and that the final boss in future connected is a gnosis.
However the order I would recommend playing the series is:
Xenoblade 1 definitive edition, Xenoblade 2, Xenoblade 2 Torna, Xenoblade Future Connected and Xenoblade X can be played anywhere between.

You can find a Xenoblade Chronicles 2 costume in Breath of the wild
Yes!!! I forgot that exist hahaha
You can also find BotW gear in Skyrim, so there's at least _some_ association between The Elder Scrolls and Xenoblade, which very weird to think about.
Every Xenoblade game is standalone and takes place in a different world and setting, there are some conections but those can be made playing the games in any order
oh wow i was thinking how cool it would be if you watched the trailers for xenoblade! its one hell of an amazing series!
X is connected to in some way, but yeah 1 and 2 are directly connected expecially in the dlc department

@@Xeno-The-Wanderer that's not even that big of a spoiler...
all of the games are standalone stories, but I'd say to play in this order:
1. Xenoblade Chronicles
2. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (the english dub for this one is let's just say *controversial* so u might want to consider going with subtitles)
3. Xenoblade Chronicles X
X is sort of its own spinoff, it has much more focus on exploration than story
GO WITH THE DUB, some of the va start a bit awful but they all improve don't play it in jp
English dub is worth it, some of the va's performances are incredible
So uh i play a lot of games. Xenoblade chronicles definitive edition is my favorite game. By far.
personally I started with 2 and it is my favorite xeno story, for the emotional impact of the story, but prob the coolest thing about the stories are the endings and I don't wanna say too much.
Go with the first one, definitive edition
Man, I love this video lol. You can see him slowly fall in love with the series through these trailers alone
I’d suggest playing Definitive > Definitive Future Connected (called Extra Story on the main menu) > Xenoblade 2 > Xenoblade 2 Torna > Xenoblade X
They’re not so much direct sequels as sequels in spirit (but Torna is the prequel to 2).
@@kanota17 Eh, I meant to say I still enjoyed 2 even though I didn’t play Torna. I played 2 at its release, you see. My bad.
@@kanota17 Torna may take place before the main game, but you won't be able to appreciate it if haven't at least played most of the main game. It also spoils things from the main game that are revealed later on, so it's best to play it after.

Theres something amazing about watching someone who never played Nintendo discover how amazing it is
Also; the games are connected, but they're anachronistic: I'd still recommend playing the blade games in order, mostly because Xc1 is the most independent narrative, while the other games all rely on heavy lore from Xc1 as well as the prior entries-- this includes the other Xeno games, such as gears and the 9 saga games (only 3 of which got released in the west, which were the main 3); although I’d wait on playing gears or saga till after the blade games, since I might’ve been a bit confusing saying “play in order” and “gears and saga” which did technically come out prior to Blade.
I approve this as well looks like another good way to enjoy XC2
Yes, I also recommend tackling the more easily accessable games before going for the older games in the Xeno franchise if at all. While not all the general themes are covered yet in the Xenoblade games, I'm confident that XC3 and XCX2 are going to drop some pretty big ones when they eventually come. And whichever the next Xenoblade game is coming next, it's already pretty far in development so it's not going to be a massive wait.
The first Xenoblade Chronicles game is absolutely in my top three favorite games of all time it is an absolute masterpiece and playing on switch for the first time is the best way to play it

--In Terms of connection
Xenoblade 1 & 2 have connections.
Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition!! This game is a definite play! You'll love this a lot!
