heard this a few years ago and i really feel like i learned a lot about arguments from it. opie knows he's in the wrong with rouse, so he's throwing so much unrelated stuff out to try and change the context of what the argument's about. jimmy's really smart about it though and for the most part he challenges his attempts immediately. the opster gets frustrated that he's not being allowed to steer the argument and at 20:55 the absolute coward goes nuclear by trying to throw jimmy under the bus with the higher ups. unfortunately it works and because jimmy gets loud and angry over it, opie's then able to reframe himself as calm and rational in opposition to prying an emotional response out of jimmy. ant sees that jimmy's allowed himself to be manipulated and tries to get them back on track, but now that jimmy's been coerced into a defensive role it's hard to snap out of it and the entire narrative's shifted by jimmy being forced to explain himself. if opie wasn't so stupid he would have known to leave it at that when it all quietened down, ending with calm reasonable opie/emotional jimmy it might have worked in his favour. but he's so stupid that he doesn't even know how stupid he is, straight away he tries to gaslight that what just occurred was a result of jimmy's overall negative attitude, even saying he wishes he'd point out the positives sometimes. he's quite rightly called a sociopath and ant should have shot him.

I love how Opie tries to make it out like he's running the show. "You, say something funny.....Yes, yes, ok good radio." Lording airtime over these guests, making them wait around in the hall like dockworkers during the great depression, and having it come back to bite him in the ass forever on RUclips, and a ton of these guys are mega legends now....the universe works itself out.
Fr. All these legands came to Anthony’s aid when he was first fired, despite it being a potential bad move to associate with him. Not a peep from any of them when Opie was fired.
Opie had a better relationship with Jim up until this fight. Jimmy said he was going to quit the show but Ant convinced him not to when he told Jimmy in private that he thought Opie was full of shit too.
Greg worked so hard he literally couldnt remember his name after a show. It's a miracle this show lasted as long as it did. Ant really hated construction.
But opie wasn't right. If you want friends in any business, you got to put a face on, and treat them like friends. if you like them or not. And it's why opie has no friends in high places, or is getting calls for radio jobs.. Well, he did get that radio gig once. but that wasn't because of his "connections", That was just him using what's left of his credit, and now he's stuck on his low viewed podcast greeting house pets, because he couldn't keep that radio job.. Jim does it professionally though, and that's why people consider him to be a worm.

I’m sorry, I could be wrong, but did I just hear Opie say that there was both “nothing” and “a lot of shit” going on about the same day, in almost the same sentence lol?
Opie had to “make judgement calls” because he had nothing else to add. Anthony was completely capable of running the show while also contributing to it in a meaningful way. The idea that Opie was directing the show was his own creation and an attempt to take credit for the show’s success. People have nopied him out of multiple shows and not only do people not notice he’s gone, it makes the experience even better! It’s insane of him to think otherwise.

LEAVE IT ALONE. lol
He's not a sociopath, he's just a narcissist like his mom. He needs to control and manipulate everyone around him because they're all puppets who exist only for his pleasure.
a long and rambling post utterly redeemed by the last sentence. lol
"opie knows he's in the wrong with rouse, so he's throwing so much unrelated stuff out to try and change the context of what the argument's about."
Yep, it's the exact tactic Bill Burr talked about in arguments
@@ericstaib8035 you got a link or title for this my man? would be interested in hearing his take
Jimmy hated when opie made guests wait he even made colin and otto and george wait once and then acted like oh come in guys and you could hear jimmy cooking inside 😂opie always acted like the kid with all the toys nobody wants to upset
nick dipaolo called him out on it too. opie is such a bitch
Ironically that happened during another fight, Anthony/Opie Grape Fight
Anthony and Jimmy let Opie have too much power. They should have taken more control
The 2nd half is insane how Opie criticizes Jimmy for being negative towards their higher ups.
Bill burr, ant, patrice was on a roll making each other laughs.
Opie : hold on.. Hold on.. let's go to steve from Connecticut.
Have you been spinning records since you were 18?? Do you have a radio show???? Wanna go??
It's so funny him explaining how a radio show works considering where he is without the talent
STEVE!
I’ve been doing radio since I was 18
AITA for listening to clips like this to relax? 😂
Blowing people off is something that ol' Greggory did for the rest of his career, so he 100% did in this situation.
Opies insecurities about what he does shines here
💯
This could be played in the Smithsonian as a timeless example of gaslighting by Opie towards Jim.
Can picture Ants shit eating grin right now, loving every moment.
Gotta love Ant
😌
He was eating grapes probably
the absolute opposite my friend
Greggshells is real
My tummy hurts
holy shit opie tried to get him in trouble with the bosses jesus christ
I can picture Ant leaning back, smiling, with a beer in hand..
No way, his stomach is hurting and he's having flashbacks to his parents fighting in his childhood.
GODDAMIT RO
@@JacquelineMeHofferbergahthat family spaghetti on the wall lol
"JEEZUZ CHRIST" 🚬
Opie just can't accept responsibility for anything.
Jesus listening to this really points out Opie’s narcissism
Greg worked so hard he literally couldnt remember his name after a show.
It's a miracle this show lasted as long as it did. Ant really hated construction.
Now I understand why everyone hates Opie.
8:22 oppie losses the verbal fight
Ant and Jimmy have been welcomed to other shows and podcasts consistently. Opie? When was the last time anyone wanted Opie as a guest
Jimmy went from doing radio with one guy who acts like a woman to marrying another
Jim's right about making guests wait too long, Opie's right about not giving a shit regarding saying thank you on that particular occasion.
But opie wasn't right.
If you want friends in any business, you got to put a face on, and treat them like friends. if you like them or not.
And it's why opie has no friends in high places, or is getting calls for radio jobs..
Well, he did get that radio gig once.
but that wasn't because of his "connections",
That was just him using what's left of his credit,
and now he's stuck on his low viewed podcast greeting house pets, because he couldn't keep that radio job..
Jim does it professionally though,
and that's why people consider him to be a worm.
10:45 And because he's the BOSS of the show. He knows what he did was wrong, but he double downs. Brings someone else in who is now pressured to agree because they don't know if their job will be affected if they answer truthfully.
10:48 HAHAHA Anthony is present if anyone is curious
Spaghetti against the wall...
@@TheJayofthejungle if he could confront people, and use his intelligence in the moment, he’d be known by everyone
Any moment where he could be the voice of reason but not a popular decision, he avoided
Jimmy is actually being generous. It was just another power move by insecure Opie
The real test is the test of time...who's doing well still in 2023?
Neither
@@johnnycanadiana1897 Jim’s show is awful but at least he’s still getting paid to broadcast. Opie streams to 80 trolls on a dead platform (Facebook Live).
I want to kill myself... Oh you were talking about them. Jimmy is married to a guy, Anthony is almost dead and Opie is doing live streams for 12 people and 8 of them are trolling him.
Ones doing Facebook live to 5 people the other married a Man in a dress.
Lazlow Jones in GTA 4 was a parody of Opie hahaha
“Whatever” the comeback when you have no valid argument
8:08 Opie lashes out like a child when he starts to lose footing in the arguement.
Yup. Notice Opie always resorts to insults. You only start insulting when your losing an argument, otherwise you stick to facts. Opies a proper hole
Years later, Jimmy said this fight was because Opie had been asking Jim to stop teasing him. He alludes to it at 6:50
08:21 Jim makes Opster snap
What's even worse than Opie responding and arguing like a woman is him trying to throw Jimmy under the bus with management because Jimmy criticized him... horrible human!
"You think there's some kind of underhand thing where i..we make people wait outside the studio"
Que years later where Opie directly and specifically said he does this exact thing in order to show that he's the top dog and these people are less important
Also notice how he keeps slipping in "Anthony and I" or "i...we" even though Anthony had nothing to do with any of it or made the decisions about that? Weird huh?
When did he say that??
@@Tyler_Owen23 I don't know DICKHEAD... listen to the audio FUCKFACE
@@Tyler_Owen23 I don't know if Opie ever came out and said it, but Anthony said that was the reason. Opie did it because Howard Stern would do it to his guests and Opie's pathological jealousy of Howard often dictated some of his at work behavior.
i remember when they 1st came back nd they had Patrice waiting one time nd he came in nd called opie out on it. but he’d never try n go toe to toe with patrice
@@wavkeonsykes4308Patrice would bring it up a couple of times whenever O& A's comeback is talked about. "Vengeance Day Opie" is what he called it lol
Opie straight up repeated the same fucking sentence at least 7 fucking times.
He's the hole of the show.
Leave it alone.
Opie hurling insults 😂
Whatever dude.
Opie has everything except worth & value.
“I don’t even know my name half the time after I end the show”
“THIS IS GREG OPIE HUGHES CHECKING IN AT XM102”
Opie had executive producer Steve C fired and he even says basically he’s going to do it on the Steve C vs Danny episode. Steve C got fired, couldn’t maintain his career and hung himself with a young child UNEMPLOYED 2 years later… Opie did that
Wild that they carried on for another 11 years
Opie was a hole on his own show, but he'll never ever admit it.
If you relisten to the Sean rouse segment, it’s not that great. But the fact that opie was essentially putting comics on ice and wait for his big ego to be ready for them is crazy. And that’s what jimmy was pissed about. And all the little physiological bullshit Opie was doing finally caught up with jimmy here and good for jimmy for standing up for other people.
I'm not saying Sean Rouse was at this level, but Opie would freeze out some of the best comedians of our time just to feel important lol
16:30 the shut up from opie is so fucking whiney and cringe like,, are you 15?
I didn't realize back then what a c word Opie was
Is.
Opie was really trying to throw jimmy under the bus
Just leave it alone
..leave it alooone
Thing about Opie is he never realized that no one tuned into hear him until it was to late. Now we have what we have and all of them fucking suck separately.
'Stealing a Living: The Opie Story'
That “huh?” after something Opie clearly heard Is infuriating.
I remember listening to this on XM replay. I didn’t know then that this was truly the end. And it was Barzini all along.
There is an animation to this fight that makes it much funnier.
Wake up, pull some then listen to this playing back at half speed😂 sounds like corky and rain man
When Opie would get that high pitched fucking yelp. God damn was that dude absolutely fucking insufferable.
Opie was mad at Jimmy because of second hand information he got from someone and it turned out to be not true. Classic Opie.
Anthony shut up and ate his food quietly without a tummy ache.
Crazy to think that this was only 2005.
lets make Bill Burr wait outside... great judgement from Opie the "point guard"
ever since i first started listening to o&a over 15 yrs ago i always thought the guest is waiting outside thats weird, and then every episode it was the same thing im like why dont they let them in wtf kind of format is this. then i learned over the years and later it was strictly opie just making people wait
33:07 Anthony finally jumps in 😂
Make sure Amanda Peet never hears this clip.
What is the Club Soda Kenny bill?
I never got over this…
20:13 really highlights opies view of fame. It’s not about individual talent that has potential, just declare someone you handpicked as a bum
Opie argues like a broad, and that was the problem.
Maybe, just maybe, arguing poorly is not the domain of women, and transcends gender?
(evidence, there are hundreds of clips of men arguing on O and A with some idiot commenter saying "durr its like a chick arguing", even though its always a fucking guy)
20:20 == When CONTROL is lost. Bus throwing begins.
Its funny, when I heard this live I was convinced it was real....when I hear the Opie vs Ant fight live I thought it was fake just for drama...wasn't until years later when Ant was fired and you learned how much they didn't like each other, the Opie vs Ant fight made so much more sense and then realized it wasn't faked for radio.
13:00 And some babble that ultimately didn't prove anything Jimmy was saying to be false.
Ultimately it boiled down to Opie didn't feel like saying bye, Jimmy thought it was rude and expressed it. Was able to convince Opie himself that it was rude because he got UPSET about it and then some more dancing around the REAL concern instead of addressing it and handling it appropriately.
I have a feeling this is not about Shawn Rouse
