My God... Burt.. One of the greatest songwriters and composers of all time.. Lifetime Achievement Award.. Kennedy Honors... Pop Icon Award.. SOMETHING... its a travesty.. I want to tell his life story... Or rather write it ☺
56 yr old Dionne Warwick was having a good night here. The dress she is wearing is the very same she wore on the cover of her Heartbreaker CD (1982). Awesome event with Burt Bacharach.
Ms. Dionne - and a whole orchestra around her including Burt at the grand piano right at her side - and who shines out bright and clear all on her own? Ms. Dionne - wow. - thx for posting!
what's really fascinating is being able to see the videos from the '60s on showing how she has grown and developed as an artist. she used to sing this song with more power, but this is more subtle.
I agree with both you and your dad. Dionne was "stunning" beautiful, and didn't look like anyone else. Her youthful beauty was unique! PS: "And still is!"
I watched this live on New Years Eve. I don't remember the channel. AMC? I said to my friend "wow, she is looking at Burt and taking cues from him". That's when I learned she was his muse and he composed many of his songs for her. I will never forget that night. I think this is somewhere on RUclips, in full.
Love it love it love it. Can't get enough of it. The glory of the marvelous , individual, believable voice, great saxophone, piano, band, a magic rendition.
Dionne and Burt.. Made some beautiful songs together. They were one of the best teams ever.. In my lifetime. Oh yes there are many more of course. But they are such a dream team. Many #1s on the billboard. Musical history here.
First of all, the song by Bacharach and David is amazing. Many have sung it. It's hard to say who has done the best version. I happen to like the original recording by Warwick. In this arrangement I first thought the tempo was too slow. Then the payoff came when Bacharach builds to the crescendo. Why doubt the master? Very nice version.
I've sung it, too - in the shower. As great as his work is, why can't Burt stay in the background and let his featured singer take the spotlight? Talking about his over-the-top manner of waltzing into his piano stool. Sheeshk...
I saw you at the Circle star when I was 18 or 19 years old Northern California at the Circle star as a young black man that was dressed really nice in a suit that came up to you and gave you a handkerchief to wipe your head off cuz it was hot in there you've done so many concerts you may not remember but I've been listening to your music all my life now I'm pushing 71
My Condolences to the passing of Burt Bacharach at age 94 this week. Jon Voight, Ferrante & Teicher with Burt Bacharach And me dancing on stage Oriental Theatre Portland Oregon. Anyone Who Had a Heart Would Love Me TOO! .....Tonight, Oriental Theater Portland Oregon.
SharkSport I stand corrected. it seems she isn't active. She was glaringly absent from the President's awarding Bacharach and David The Gershwin Award in 2012. Also she filed for bankruptcy in 2013. Seems like she is in decline.
Dionne Warwick Anyone Who Had A Heart - Dionne & Burt - 1996 Classy Sophisticated A beautiful voice! Effortless Stunning performance by Dionne....🔥💕🔝💯🎶🎶.😎.
Two legends here. Its hard to fathom all the music he wrote for countless Artists...So great. PS..I love you, Dusty Springfield....Wish you were here...
Voce e classe...! Nessuna emozione è fuori: quando Dionne Warwick inizia a cantare è come una bellissima sirena, che ti affascina e ti conduce in un mondo inesplorato. Grandissima Artista che sulle note del geniale Bacharach ,vola alto!
It is a tragedy that Burt would not live forever to write such timelessly beautiful songs - one after the next for the world to enjoy while gracefully spinning on its way. These songs will forever be the legacy of the best arranged and performed and recorded wonders. Tchaik and Bartok would have been inspired to walk the same planet as Burt. So great to assemble on RUclips all of the lesser known ones and we all wish Burt well, recovery and please continue your great work Burt. It's never over..
A great night for Dionne - her voice lost a lot of range and power around 1993 but in this set, some of the old magic is back and she really gives it her all. Some of my favourite Dionne performances, and I'm really hoping someone can upload some other performances from this 1996 set such as That's What Friends are For. Unfortunately Dionne could never pull this off in this key anymore - you can see she struggles with the high notes in the Albert Hall performance of this song 3 years later.
The main reason for her loss of range is because of her smoking habits not from age. She was a smoker sense she was a teen causing her voice to deepen and weaken over time. BUT even with the results still has her voice with very much power to this day.
I was around in the sixties, but this song never came on my radar. I thought it was just "ok". As time goes by, I appreciate the brilliance of the song. What can you say about Bachrach besides genius. Musicians appreciate his odd time signatures and modulations. It's in the tradition of Frank Loesser (Guys and Dolls). Bachrach is like Leonard Bernstein when conducting. You can see exactly what he wants with just a head move. And Dionne has the diction, timing and timbre. Hooray to Hal David.
I am raising both hands on this one. He so should be honored, though the last saw him on PBS he was not in good shape. He's now 84 years old. Not certain he would be in shape to attend. But they should definitely honor him. Yes! Yes! Yes! (And hopefully Dionne would show up -- though you never know with her! She likely wouldn't come because she would wonder where was hers!!!!)
Burt has discussed his initial meeting with Dionne, and how he was blown away by her sweet, calm voice. We all adore Dionne of course:) But make no mistake---this is BURT'S music!
Well it was Brian Epstein that heard Anyone Who Had a Heart in America and brought it back for Cilla.. George Martin actually thought it would be best for Shirley Bassey, but Brian Epstein stood out for Cilla and thats who had the chart topping hit ..... Doesnt matter it was a cover version, still the best!
And to think, some "40 Something" person asked the question: why is she getting attention? What did she do? I responded with: have you heard most of the hits that Luther Vandross performed? The lyrics were written by Burt Bacharach and sung by Dionne back in the 1960s. Then I heard crickets! LOL
Burt Bacharach and Hal David wrote the song for Dionne Warwick in 1963, if the truth be known. George Martin heard Warwick singing the song, illegally recorded it, and took it to Cilla Black. That fact was long ago established in the "Great Performances" show honoring Bacharach. No disrespect is aimed to Miss Black, but her version of "Heart" will forever be a cover version.
Anyone who had heart (or a brain, for that matter) would award Mr. Bacharach the Kennedy Center Honors.
If you agree, raise your hand.
My God... Burt.. One of the greatest songwriters and composers of all time.. Lifetime Achievement Award.. Kennedy Honors... Pop Icon Award.. SOMETHING... its a travesty.. I want to tell his life story... Or rather write it ☺
Ikr. He turned 94 or 95 a few days ago!! Come on ppl!!! 😩
Burt.....So much compassion for his music is undeniable.
When the lyrics told a story from beginning to end! The epitome of great song writing in the Hal David/Burt Bacharach dynamic duo!
Yes, Juliaflo!...And a nice cover of 'THHAM' is the Divine Ms. M. (Bette Midler). ✔️heck It 💥ut!
One of the greatest songs ever written.
Right on!
All by herself !❤️ no back up singers , every word , chorus all of it . She’s so underrated!!!!
and no auto tune!!!!
Highly underrated.
My all-time favorite of all the beautiful songs you’ve ever sang.
Dionne!, the voice will never be duplicated, meaning: Nobody sounds like Dionne, beautiful ballad.
Yes.
I'm still listening to this beautiful song in December 2023! what a voice🎉❤
The inimitable Dionne! Her songs are so hard to sing, but she does them effortlessly.
So much class, soul, and talent on that stage.
Top of the game. As compelling as she is, Bachrach pushed her even higher. Such a gracious presence.
We are all blessed to be able to listen to such magic just such a great fucking song
She interprets his music better than anybody.
So many artists have done this song. Dionne does it best
i totally agree!
Gilberto Hinojosa Hernandez I think she does it well however I prefer Dustys.
@@brianherrington7226 This will always belong to Lady Dionne!
Stands to reason. It was written just for Dionne and her impeccable voice.
Wynonna judds live version is outstanding.

Burt always made her sing in higher key she always fought tooth and nail....but she always did it! :-)
I agree with both you and your dad. Dionne was "stunning" beautiful, and didn't look like anyone else. Her youthful beauty was unique!

Her range was awesome! One of the greatest artist!
You'll never hear music like this again. so beautiful.

Bachrach produced some of the finest music of the 20th century.
My goodness, such magic can only be had or given by those with The Gift. Such is the pairing of Burt and Dionne, the gift from heaven to us.
🥰🥰🥰
👍🏾
This is such a beautiful song. Dionne can truly sing this song with alot of sole indeed.
Karen Lester you mean "soul" "sole" is a type of fish
@@bluegirl0920 or the bottom of a shoe
😆 lol. Oh Karen..... 🙃
The greatest American Pop songwriter(with lyricist Hal David) who ever lived/Rest well Sir- your achievements will never be matched !!!###
M'y Spiritual mom's, the Beeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssst ! Memory song for Eternity. ❤
She sounds at least as good as she did in the 60's
Love it love it love it. Can't get enough of it. The glory of the marvelous , individual, believable voice, great saxophone, piano, band, a magic rendition.
Holy Crowley, music like it should be and always should be damn that’s good stuff !
Dionne and Burt.. Made some beautiful songs together. They were one of the best teams ever.. In my lifetime. Oh yes there are many more of course. But they are such a dream team. Many #1s on the billboard. Musical history here.
A beautiful woman a voice of the unexplainable..
She.just got better and better with age. The best of combinations Burt Bacharach writing music especially for her voice and Dionne’s wonderful voice.
Whitney got it from her mom and Dionne...reminded me of someone it was 1960s Dionne I saw as a little kid. The face the sophistication.
So splendid. She really reaches. Touches that silent part of my heart fantastic
simply beautiful......thank you for sharing this wonderful performance by these two great artists...

The music is in his soul don’t you get it he can help himself!
Amazing and that she belted this song out sitting!
This is better than the version she did when she was young! Feels more raw and that there is more personality in it.
+hinger25 When she first sang (and recorded it), it probably was just a song. This version includes her years of life experience.
Yes, indeed! I can "feel" every ounce of happiness and pain in her wonderful delivery!
There are no words to describe this , just tears........
Como alguém pode não gostar de uma diva dessas.

Superb.
Dionne has a piercing voice which even made the late Michael Jackson and Luther Vandross weep.
