What a beautiful sermon! I prayed to Our Lord why are things going wrong in my love life, and he showed me 70x7 yesterday and today this is in my recommendations. I am so sorry Lord that I have never learned to truly forgive... I will use this Lent to figure this one out. Praise The Lord!

I know very well that God is good and forgiving and merciful as well. And I know that regardless of what bad things I’ve done, he’ll forgive me as long I’m sincerely sorry for what bad things I’ve done to others and to myself. Like yesterday my mom noticed that her credit card bill was out of control because I was using it foolishly and at first I didn’t know what I was doing to her but once she showed me of what I did, I was deeply sorry for what I did and I felt ashamed but I found a way of how I can redeem myself by doing a sincere penance for my wrongdoings and praying 🙏. By praying the Divine Mercy novena and praying the Holy Rosary and even going to confession as well.

Before entering the workforce I was taught at school that there is no such thing as a second chance.
Sadly my nephew said to me the same thing. It is still taught today.
    This is frightening .

I have family members who are always nice to others, never are angry and seem not to sin, yet they haven't been to confession for decades nor follow some of the teachings of the church. Yet I have all these issues daily and need to go weekly to confession. How is it that some are practically free sin even if they don't follow the teachings of the church?

Does it count as forgiveness, if the person say they forgive you, but still holding the grudge or resentment?

? Do the souls in purgatory receive the benefits of masses offered for them by a person in the state of mortal sin?🤔

Good question…. But there is confession.

I would say yes because it’s the priest that says the mass, and perhaps the person who requested the mass perhaps won’t receive merit for it, at least until he get in Gods grace through confession. I’ve also heard from a mystic that God hears all prayers said for the suffering souls. ❤

@@matthewblanchard3211 You are right. I finally was able to present this question to a priest and he gave the same answer .

Personal experience tells me that we need to be careful about gospel passages like this. If we need to forgive like our heavenly, father perhaps we ought not to forget that our Lord also warned the scribes and the pharisees that sins against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but sins against the Holy Ghost will not be forgiven. This is one of those passages that I know people who like to avoid accountability will be used to shame dismiss and shut you down if you dare try holding someone accountable who needs to be held accountable. This passage can easily be used to push forth false ideas of mercy and forgiveness that actually tend towards promotion of the sins of presumption, obstinacy in sin, resistance to the truth, and final impenitance. As far as I know, only one person who was on the cross crucified next to jesus was forgiven their sins. One was
obstinate in their ways while the other came to humility and acknowledged their wrong and asked for forgiveness. Let us be very careful about using gospel paaseges like this in a way which only enables evil.
