      One suggestion is to avoid psychotherapy. Just stirs up memories and guilt.

      Therapy helped me a ton. In my opinion, you need a therapist who is action oriented not feelings oriented. The ones who constantly ask, "how did that make you feel?" are worthless. Find one who will help you reorganize your life and build good habits.

      I’ve Fr. Ripperger speak of praying for the grace of forgetfulness.
      That we may remember the things that will direct us toward pious things and not remember things that can lead us astray.

    I'm living the consequences of sins and of lack of prudence - a terrible nervous breakdown and dark dark depression. My mind is weighted down in dispair and prayers not helping. Help me Jesus!

      May God keep you in His loving care. I was where you are…our Blessed Mother Mary took my hand and led me to praying the daily rosary. Completely changed my life from the inside out…She led me to Jesus, and to a more intimate relationship with Him. The Rosary, Mass (plus daily when possible,) Confession, Adoration and Holy Communion are life changing. Love and the peace of Christ be with you❤️

    Thank you for posting this beautiful Homily. Who else has struggled with old trauma on a daily basis and stealing the joys a today. Memorizing Psalm 90 will be a new goal for me and focus on Gods Goodness, rather than self loathing and self doubt.

    I often fall asleep with the rosary in my hands. I also have many Holy images on my walls throughout my house. Glad to hear this confirmation that it's a good practice. Although I knew this is what I need to keep my focus on all things eternal. 🙏🙌🙏💖

      Uh oh, that’s a way to let in demons! Meditate on Jesus’ cross and suffering and if you need guidance, st Alphonsus Ligouri’s book Talking With God gives you the framework of how to do it

    Thank you. I have been tormented by this for some time. I caused good people pain and harm. People who treated me w/ literally nothing but love and kindness, who put their faith and trust in me and I just turned around and caused them such pain by my betrayal of that faith. For so many years I've carried this burden. So many times I've asked God for forgiveness. I thought about reaching out to these people but then again I think of the time that has passed and at this point it is probably best to just let sleeping dogs lie. I know they aren't the same people and I also know if I did that I may cause more harm than good by reopening what I pray are healing wounds. I pray daily that God lift this burden from me, but instead w/ every passing day I am somehow made aware of another sin against yet another innocent I had committed, another trust I betrayed so instead of my burden being lifted it is increased. I am embarrased and ashamed. And what adds to the frustration is that even as I know God forgives me for these gross injustices I had inflicted upon the innocents, for whatever reason I cannot forgive myself and I know that in itself is wrong. I am thinking this is a burden I will be made to carry for the rest of my days and it greatly saddens me, so much so that while I will never consider early termination when ever I have a medical procedure I make sure the dr. knows I have a DNR in place. And the truly frustrating thing is that God has blessed me in so many other ways and times. I have absolutely nothing to complain about and everything to be thankful for, and still the memories of my past iniquities against these people torment me so. I'm still not convinced either way on the existence of purgatory, but at the same time I wonder if it hasn't already started for me.

    Praying for the people of our past that we regret allowing their presence is so hard. But thank you, the tears I shed for the people who did me harm are offered up for the hope they come to Jesus and repent of their sins, going forward living a Holy life.

    Place this on a closed caption and take notes. This is the very best information on healing the mind, straight from the One True Church. This is the way forward, the true path. Take heed, and do these things, and you will recover. Then go, and serve Him!

    Thank you Father! Very helpful information. It would be great if this channel could set up captions in Spanish and some other languages, I feel there is lack of information from this topic in Spanish, so everyone in South America, falls into the grave sin of practicing meditation, mantras, chakras and other forms of pagan spirituality. But this could have a big impact !!!

    How is Scripture or prayer memory a penance?

    • @maryagneshaagensen269
      @maryagneshaagensen269 11 месяцев назад

      I believe it is all about your personal intention. For instance, sometimes I walk the stations of the Cross for the conversion of sinners, sometimes I walk the stations as a penance for my sins that laid Jesus on that Cross, sometimes I walk the stations intending to be a comfort to our Lord...God knows our intentions behind every act we do. May more and more of our actions be intended solely for the Glory to our Merciful God. Amen.

    I feel like so much talk about sin and temptation always seems to be implying it's sexuality-related. Meanwhile for many of us the only repeated temptations are not so physical but rather to worry, to think ungraciously about someone, to be prideful. God is love, all barriers to love is sin. This low-key obsession with sin being just physical isn't scriptural!
