Three EASY Victorian era recipes from the Secret Garden Cookbook.

  • Secret Garden Cookbook
    The Secret Garden book definitely holds a special place in my heart. So wonderful getting to see there is a cookbook dedicated to it!!!
    I made three recipes from the book
    What was the first one tatties something made three dishes?
    Tatty Broth:
    2 tbs butter
    1 onion chopped
    2 potatoes chopped
    3 cups of chicken broth
    1 carrot grated
    2-3 pieces bacon- cooked and chopped
    2 tsp parsley
    Black pepper to taste
    Mulligatawny Soup:
    2 tbs butter
    2 1/2 tbsp flour
    2 tsp curry powder
    1 tbsp minced garlic
    1 2/3 cup chicken broth
    1-2 cooked chicken breasts chopped
    1 can coconut milk
    2 tsp lemon juice
    Serve over rice
    Jammy Balls:
    8oz package of vanilla wafer cookies
    2/3 cup pecans or walnuts (I used pretzels)
    1/4 cup sugar
    1/2 cup powdered sugar
    2 tbsp cocoa powder
    1/4 cup jam

    Hi Jim, the Secret Garden is a classic. A wonderful book. What a great theme for a cookbook. Yes indeed, tatties are potatoes...and so are spuds, lol. The dish looked so warming and tasty. Yum! I love Indian food, it is so flavorful. I couldn't believe how quickly the soup thickened up - wow! Yum again! Plus a third creation. Yum for the third time 😋😋😋

    I love this Jim! I have the kindle version of this cookbook along with the Anne of Green Gables cookbook. I love both the original books and the many different movie versions. The recipes looked delicious and a great video! 😊❤

    3 super easy, charming recipes. Tattie broth could be my daily meal! But I definitely need to make the mulligatawny soup!!

    My daughter loved that movie and still does. It was more special because my Mom had it and that was their special movie they watched when she spent the night with Grandma.

    Have you seen the new Wizard of Oz cookbook? It's probably one of the most creative cookbooks I've ever seen.
