The original fable always stands out to me. At the time, there wasn’t a good equivalent to the sword of aeons, which was pretty OP. This was mitigated by adding Avos tear as the good version of the sword, but was more of an after the fact balancing of moral choices instead of making a pure evil playthough more rewarding.

Vampyr genuinely isn't that much harder without eating the NPCs, and you still get XP from combat encounters and missions. I don't know why the writer of this list thinks killing NPCs is the only way to get XP, but it isn't. I did a playthrough without killing anyone except enemies and I was only a couple of levels behind the "genocide run" by the last mission.

    • @chrisrudolf9839
      @chrisrudolf9839 Месяц назад +8

Yep, their "research" on that game was particularly bad. It's also nonsense that you can only unlock the "true ending" by killing absolutely no NPCs. You can kill some select few NPCs (preferably those that no one will miss and who are actually harmful for their society, like that good for nothing petty criminal or that one guy who is secretly a serial killer) and still get the best ending. There is an achievement for not killing any NPC, but that's it.
While it is true that you tend to be a bit underleveled if you (mostly) refrain from killing NPCs, you do still get XP from fights and you can farm XP, because opponents respawn when you rest or get killed (I wish they had nerfed farming a bit more, it would have given more weight to making the tough morally grey decisions). Also playing evil from the start balances out by the districts getting more chaotic, overrun with tough enemies and you missing out on quests that would have given you valuable resources.
Also, AFAIK there is not a single power or upgrade that you can only get by killing NPCs, you can earn all the vampire powers with regular battles, too, it just takes longer.

Great video as always! However, I’d like to add two things that you got wrong.
1-Vampyr is pronounced Vam-Peer, not Vampire. Hence why it’s spelled differently.
2-You absolutely can level up and unlock powers in Vampyr without feeding on anyone. If you complete every side quest and battle every enemy you encounter along the way, you’ll have leveled up plenty by the time you reach the final boss. Sure, you can level up much faster by feeding on people, but it’s NOT the only way to unlock vampiric abilities like you said.

I wouldn't say "better abilities" more raw powered ones to be sure. The foucs is just different. More unrestrained unshackled destruction at your fingertips, or more refined evolved control over your gifts? It's really a matter of preference. However, unless such refined control complients the player's playstyle, one might be better off with the evil route, as you don't have to worry about civilians. Which it's overwhelming power supports. And the good guy route is desgined to minimize destruction and promote refined restraint.

most games that give you the option usually lock the coolest stuff behind the evil path. You brought up kotor but the only rewards you get in the first kotor for being completely evil is an easier experience and the ability to craft revan's armor in the star forge at the very end. In kotor 2, not only do you get the easier experience but by embracing the dark side fully you gain the ability "force crush" which lets you one shot everything minor from that point forward and kill the remaining bosses in just 3 hits. As for vampyr, i'd say the game is almost unplayable if you're anything other than pure evil.

The pure energy of the light side should be able to grow plants out of thin air that can be used to make high-quality recipes for both healing and satisfaction. Someone needs to put that element into the game to make both sides be realistically balanced.

So for Bioshock the entry is incorrect. The adam you get from harvesting is doubled the FIRST time. Each subsequent harvest has a smaller bonus. Gotta love when speedrunners study these games.

I mean, being able to throw cars when normally spiderman is never strong enough to do that in his games, and being able to fling around huge tendrils with scythe blades at the end of them. When your not using the enemys face as a skate board against the pavement is pretty great in its own right. But I will say a symbotie black cat as your queen is a very nice cherry on top of the badass black suit sundae lol.

A lot of other people from the marvel universe. Moon knight, wolverine, the tinkerer. Black widow (with her traditional comic accurate Russian accent I might add) and of course all the spidey villains and characters you might expect, i.e rhino, vulture, electro, black cat, kingpin. And duh venom. Not sure on this part but I think I'm forgetting 1 or 2 also.

I'm sure someone has already put this in the comments, but I am surprised y'all didn't mention Infamous (the original, main line games), because of the karmic paths and perks of the evil karma track...maybe a "commenter edition" entry? 😁

I mean, in the first game the karmic power of evil arc lighting is much better than it's opposite overload burst, the karmic good guy power. In fact, unless I'm aiming for a headshock explosion, (the upgrade evil path gives your average basic shock bolt) then arc lighting is my go to power unless I'm going for a different tactic.

Lotr 3rd age , I own this , and have finished it, and he's right, it's absolutely way more fun , Nd it's not even hard , if you play as the hero's then the villains, you know what each hero does and roughly there armour/LVL but , the evil side has everything to shut it down, there fights are also mission based , eg , no free roam with them, you also had to make it past the 1st hero chapter to unlock the evil mode ,however, there is one fight were you play as the evil guys , i found it the hardest fight , but after I vs them from the other side , It becames easier, .......you get to play as the "eye of Sauron" for the last boss on both sides, yes ! Being the eye of Sauron is epic , great game,

Not sure where Psy is getting his information but there most certainly are some very harsh and extreme consequences to killing NPCs in Vampyr. The most minor of which is some other NPCs in the same social circle disappearing or even dyeing/committing suicide. Kill the wrong NPC in the wrong order and you could lose access to an NPC or group of NPCs that could have provided a much better boost. Kill too many NPCs or cause too many deaths/disappearances in any given area and the area turns hostile. Not only causing the deaths of every NPC who was left in the district, but also filling it with hordes of power enemies making the game much harder to navigate. As well as cutting yourself off from XP sources like NPCs and their quests. Basically if you kill too much you just unlocked secret hard mode.

Just pay attention, do their quests before you kill them to maximize the exp you get out of them, and so what if the area turns more hostile? You gain more than enough power to mow them down regardless. As long as you upgrade your bite and your stake enough every enemy isn't a threat but at damn health pack.

  • @saffronia2992

The last entry is poorly worded. Tou CAN level up without killing as you gain xp from enemies and side stories it just takes longer and makes the game harder. You can farm xp as enemeies reset when you go to sleep. But as far as I know, no ability is tied to killing NPCs. Also the consequences for killing means that the distracts fall into disarray, leading to more enemies spawning and side quests locking.
