    It is worth noting that Sif doesn't 'forgive' you, the DLC section takes place in the past. So you kill Sif and then go back in time to meet her when she's a puppy. If you actually do the past DLC stuff first, she recognizes you in the main game and shows remorse for what she has to do. Makes it even worse.

    Killing Paarthurnax is a lot more grey than just "you want to continue the Blades quest? Then kill the only good dragon around". Paarthurnax was the most evil dragon of his time (second only to Alduin, but he is god like creature that is supposed to end to world anyway). During a whole era he killed scores of humans, enslaved the sentient races and was tyrant as Alduin's number 2. The thing is, he was born and lived around a race that considered this the right thing to do and he was the only one of them that broke free of that mentality and became good. The point of killing him or not is 'can you forgive his horrible atrocities that happened ages ago? And do you believe someone can escape punishment for their past deeds by doing good ones? I still think killing him his wrong, but it's not like the Blades don't have a point.

    • @markkuijpers3818
      @markkuijpers3818 Месяц назад +2

      I agree with you that the Blades have a point, but it's so hypocritical it's very hard to take that point seriously. The Blades worship Talos. Whichever way you want to slice it, Tiber Septim/Talos of Atmora/Hjalti somethingbeard is one of the worst mass murderers in the history of Tamriel. He launched an unprovoked genocide against the Summerset Isles with the Brass God. And to cap off his arrogance, he managed to steal enough godly power to turn himself into a Divine. But Paarthurnax' millennia of redemption somehow count for nothing?

      Hence why I left him alive as he clearly had regret and remorse for his past crimes. He even states after I killed Alduin for good and went to visit him that while yes he mourns Alduin because they were brothers, and it always hurts to lose a sibling he understood that Alduin had to die for the sake of everyone on the face of Nirn.

    You dont summon Sif to help you AFTER you put her down. You go into the past and become friends with Sif in an effort to help and subsequently avenge Artorius. Before the initial fight with Sif she sniffs you and then lets out a somber howl. This is because she recognizes you from the past (which our character doesnt know about yet) but knows how this fight is going to have to end. Making it all the more tragic.

Really as soon as that collar was placed on Bloodwing's neck, the bird was dead.

    Few channels doing a list like this mention Rundas from Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. The gentle bounty hunter saves Samus's life twice in the Battle of Norion, but he inexplicably attacks Samus when she later goes to Bryyo. We find out Rundas was corrupted by Dark Samus and a small fragment of Phazon, but not until after a sad boss battle where we all hoped Samus was shooting to disable.

  • @sadowolf
    @sadowolf Месяц назад +2

    Nice one with The Beat from Furi. The way her boss battle starts with a chase where she's pleading with you is really the tip-off that you're the aggressor and she really doesn't want to fight.
    But there are a couple pretty glaring omissions from the list in my opinion (and a couple that I just like haha):
    1) The Boss (Metal Gear Solid 3): Pretty shocked she didn't make it onto the list, she was the first villain that popped into my head. After you defeat her she's lying there waiting for you to use the patriot gun to end her, and I stood there for quite a while hoping that there'd be an alternative to killing her, but of course there wasn't because dying at your hands was her final mission.
    2) Hugo (A Plague Tale: Requiem): Granted your character Amicia is not exactly forced to kill him, but it's either that or stand by long enough for Lucas to do it for you. The whole game is pretty traumatic, but for it to end that way with no shot at Hugo living after all he had to go through was just heartbreaking.
    3) Jetstream Sam (Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance): He always had good guy vibes about him and was a pretty likable, honorable character despite being on the other side. Of course you learn that he was never down with the cause and was forced into join Armstrong's cause, and he was willing to die in battle against you if it meant you were able to stop Armstrong. Still didn't want to kill the guy though haha.
    4) Nidhogg (God of War: Ragnarok): All she's there to do is take care of the World Tree's roots, and Odin duped her into attacking you but cursing the tree's roots to bind Freya to Midgard and forcing you to destroy them. You not only are forced to fight and brutally kill her, but you orphan her 6 children (who thankfully you find a home for with Ratatoskr).

      I would say Nidhogg from Ragnarok as well, at least in retrospect. Her only job is to protect the World Tree's roots, and Odin essentially tricked you into destroying them so she'd attack you to defend them. You end up having to kill her and orphan her children, but it sucks knowing what led to it.

    Not sure if he fully counts as a villain, but he is a boss, so I'm rolling with it: I genuinely almost dropped Crisis Core after Angeal died. I just felt super guilty about it even though I literally didn't have a choice, and I already knew how the game ended at that point, and I ended up having a whole nihilistic "It's all downhill from here, what's the point" thing before deciding "actually screw that mentality, I'm gonna keep going"

      The same could be said about Genesis. Considering how they both came about, I don't blame him one bit for resenting ShinRa. I DO blame him for all the murdering and everything that happened during the game, but his vendetta against the company is well-deserved. At least Genesis survives in the end, but considering what happened with Angeal, I wish the two could have been swapped.

    No mention of Matriarch Benezia? She's properly diabolical sure, and idk if this is just if you bring Liara with you. But in her moments of clarity you genuinely feel bad for her despite knowing that she has to die.

      I was hoping for a DLC where you can get all three house leaders and fight the true bad guys (Those who slither in the dark) what all three kids making it out alive in the end. Makes me mad only half the runs let you fight the "real evil" while the other half just do Edelgard is bad she must die or Church bad kill everyone. Missed opportunity Nintendo on this one.... (they got my hopes up since Corrins game had a middle path for saving almost everyone)

    Loewe from Legend of heroes trails in the sky. Though he was always in the way he never was evil in fact it seems like he mainly wanted Joshua to get stronger. he seems like the type to have a redemption ark but sadly he dies after you beat him luckly others do... Same thing but perhaps even moreso with Crow in trails of cold steel 2 heck it probably hits harder there since he was a full party member in 1. man that series as a whole often has a few characters you don't want to fight...

    Tachy from Stellar Blade, although killing her is a mercy when we find her. Also the companion you chose to die in Wolfenstein: the New Order.
    Maiden Astraea and Garl Vinland; she has to die to stop the Old One from killing everyone, but she's a saint using the power given to her to help the poor, downtrodden and abandoned people of the Valley of Definlement. Heck you even fight her in a disgusting, poisoned pit where she needs to work. And Garl only wants to protect her.
    For Dead Rising, I would have chosen Cliff Hudson, who's stuck in a PTSD flashback after seeing his granddaughter eaten alive by zombies. It's why you have to fight him.
    Matriarch Benezia, who you have to fight because of Reaper indoctrination.
    Blaidd who is driven insane by the programming of the Two Fingers.
    Maybe the Scrapped Watchman from Lies of P. He's violent and attacks you, but he was driven insane because he felt the adults abandoned the slum children he befriended.
    The serial killer from Camp Sunshine is possessed by a demon causing him to commit all the murders.
    Fire Emblem: Three Houses whichever story path you don't take causes the main companion to lose themselves and become antagonists that you have to fight.
