Hi everyone, whilst Amazon does have an artist statement for this creator and does NOT say that it includes AI generated content, it is not clear at all what the provenance of this book is. My gut feeling suggests to me that it does have its origin in AI generated content that may, or may not have been heavily edited by an artist. If you would rather avoid purchasing AI generated colouring books I therefore recommend you keep in mind that I have been unable to come to a conclusive decision about its creation, and consider that if you wish to purchase this book.
Jackie, I love the wide variety of styles that you present - from realism to abstract and everything in between! You've helped me put the fun back into coloring! I'd gotten very uptight for fear of making a "mistake" and "ruining" my page. You reminded me that it's just coloring books, for crying out loud! Now I look forward to "having a play" with my books and pencils! I love all the homey sounds, from Hamish to people singing, even the sounds of the trash men! ❤ from 🤠 👢
I'm so glad to hear that Sharee! I was hearing similar sentiments from a number of people and that’s why I created the channel….with the hope of offering some thoughts and ideas to help people rediscover that initial enjoyment they found in colouring as a hobby. Thanks for your lovely comment and watching the channel, Jackie
Jackie, I love this picture and I learn so much from you. I have to say that Max’s version of Mad Hatter is quite scrumptious! He is going to love your talent on this picture. Also what a cutie pie your dog is ❤
Thanks Lory, unfortunately I am having having further doubts about whether this is a real artist….it’s hard to find any real proof they exist, but I am enjoying colouring the images in this book a lot 🙃 Hamish is so cute, it’s a shame he has such a nervous disposition and scared of people because everyone admires him and would love to show him love 🥹 we are still working at things with him though 🤞
Good Morning, Jackie! I absolutely love this picture, He looks phenomenal. Thank You so much for the close up, all of the Colors in his gorgeous, but untrustworthy face really brought him to life. I also love the background! Excellent Work! hey Hamish.😊🦴💜💜
Love this Jackie! One of my favourites that you have done. His face is beautiful but menacing like you say and I especially like your idea that it’s not tea in his teapot! Perhaps that’s what is contributing to Alice’s dreams? Off to buy the book now that we know it’s not AI. Thank you!
Hi Sarah, I hope you see this before buying…..I’ve received a few comments that leave me with more doubt about its authenticity with regards to AI and it’s creator. What I will say is that I have enjoyed colouring this book and will continue to colour in it but I can’t authenticate 100% that it is not AI generated sadly. If I am too late with this comment and AI is an important factor for you then you might wish to return it. I just wanted to let you know that, I appreciate you watching Sarah, Jackie
@@spare_room_studio thank you Jackie. I have done some research and if you check out Amazon and Etsy it appears that this “artist” is prolific and has dozens of books and cheap downloads so I think there is definitely AI input? One of the UK reviews shows a photo with the classic too many fingers sign that the AI generators often feature. I did send for the book but can easily return if I’m not happy with it or keep but not buy anymore? AI is very important to me since I saw Lana Green’s video on how it is affecting genuine artists. Loving your Alice series and as always I look forward to seeing many more of your videos. Stay well! 🤗
@@sarahgriffin8667 I have lots of doubt about it myself and I wanted you to know so that you could make an informed choice….I would say feel free to return it once you’ve had a chance to examine the images yourself 👍 I think as colouring book consumers we have a right to know if AI has been used so we can confidently make that choice.
@@spare_room_studio thank you and for the new video that you just published. I will probably return the book, shame as there are some beautiful images. I will be complaining to Amazon about the non-transparency and I don’t think it will make any difference but we have to try? Have you ever thought about making a book yourself?
@@sarahgriffin8667 I think that’s the best you can do in this situation Sarah, because if we say nothing then nothing will ever change. I haven’t seriously entertained the thought of creating a book myself….but I always think “never say never” is a good policy 😉
I think it is just so fabulous! I know I want to get this book for sure now. You are truly a wonderful artist. It is such a joy to watch you color and see how the picture develops under your creative mind. I have hesitated to start coloring a picture when it had some bits that were not as clearly drawn out, as this background was done. But seeing how you created a sort of watercolor effect with it gives me some ideas to try myself.
Thank you so much! I know it can be daunting but try and think to yourself “it’s only paper!” You make the best break-throughs when you allow yourself to fail….I actually didn’t know how this background was going to turn out myself and it sure went through an ugly phase but we usually have two options - abandon it! (which is a perfectly acceptable option 😉) or try experimenting by adding something else. This book is a generous size and there are plenty more images to try again ❤️ Thanks for watching, Jackie
Hi Jackie! He looks like an evil person, well done, he’s awesome!! I wish i could color like this!! I really like that you put the colors everywhere around, i like to learn that….i tried to color with markers this way, but i don’t like the finished product, when i did that. Maybe i was’nt finished yet, i don’t know. I will definitely try it again. You inspire me, so i keep trying…..
It has taken quite some time experimenting and creating failures to discover my own method of working like this Linda, don’t give up! Often people stop at a “safe” stage and end up with an “okay” result….sometimes it just needs a little something extra to make it come alive. If you are worried about doing this in a book, have some copies made and experiment lots ❤️ With markers you might just need to do a couple of layers to get an intense colour or help blend colours….I find one layer can look patchy.
@@spare_room_studio when i do one layer, i wet the page with the marker and it comes out verry smooth, but i always use pencils on top of that, but i am going to try a PDF only with markers, to try out the way you color this page to see if i like it. For me i am not sure, i love pencils, especially my Holbeins, but i want to learn and get out more of my other supplies….
One way to tell if it's AI is to check the number of new releases. "Max Brenner" released something like 25 highly detailed greyscale coloring books in 2023 and 2024. Prior to that, there are no Amazon publications under that name. I read a post about this subject (re:a high number of new releases) on another RUclips channel. Unfortunately, I can't recall which one, so I can't give credit. If your instinct is telling you that something is wonky, and you're wondering if it's AI, it probably is. I do love what you did with this picture (of course)!! Love from Texas! 🤠 👢
Very good points Sharee! I have said from the beginning that it “felt” like something was off - giving the AI vibes - it’s something you can’t quite put into words….and this one is tricky because it certainly does appear that a person has edited it to a reasonable extent. This is exactly what makes purchasing books from Amazon difficult these days, if I had been able to pick it up in a store and flip through it first would I have bought it? Most likely not 😑
I bought an AI book before I knew about them. I decided that I won't knowingly buy them, now that I know what to look for, but I'm not going to feel guilty about coloring in the book that I bought. I hope your nurse's visit went well and that you're healing well. I was so sorry to hear of your troubles trying to treat your health problem, and the ensuing complications. In praying that you'll heal with no more complications. ❤ 🤠 👢
@@shareeburbank2836 thanks Sharee, and your experience is similar to mine 😊 I am going to make a video today where I share my thoughts on this issue in more depth and what I have decided to do in this particular instance. I think open and respectful discussion is very important with regards to subjects like this, so that we may make our own informed decisions about where we spend our hard earned money 😉 thanks for sharing your thoughts with me, Jackie
This is an example of a fake bio, which is very common on Amazon. This person doesn't exist. Google him. There is absolutely nothing... no social media, no business pages, no art anywhere. "He" only exists on Amazon. The worst part is there is an accomplished artist they stole the name from. The real Max Brenner does abstract analog art, has been displayed in exhibitions all over the world.. and has nothing to do with coloring books.
You make some very good points….I haven’t been able to find anything 😑 I’ve not been able to articulate why I’ve been feeling uneasy and that’s usually a sign of AI images for me I think, but it does seem to have been edited reasonably well and I like enough of the images that I will continue to keep colouring in this book now that it has been paid for…..another lesson! Thanks for watching.
