I grown up to listen to Irish music from listening to the Celtic woman. Now I can sing in the Irish Gaelic language music. I can sing the same song that she's singing right now
@@andysmith5806 Eabha speaks fluent Irish. She grew up speaking it in the home. I read somewhere that she didn't start speaking English until she was 6 years old.
When someone like Meav takes the stage with Celtic Woman again, the other girls just look like background singers. Don’t get me wrong, they all sang beautifully. But Meav taking the lead and the girls literally standing behind her, it really looks like a singer and her backup girls.
our Sweet Lady Meav indeed has a commanding stage presence. At this point, Meav was (and still is) the nascent vocal director of the group. I think she was showing the gals how to present the song on tour. Meav only sang this song for the DVD filming in question here, leaving one of the others to take the lead during the tour itself. Not sure who took the lead after that. Guessing it was maybe Eabha who is the other totally fluent Irish/Gaelic speaker among them. But i totally agree with you Sanne. :) xx
To be honest I remember I had to sing this song in primary school (that’s what we call elementary school in Ireland) one time in a grandparents day. In either 2016 or 2017. I didn’t like it cos the original artists of the song where folk and it was a folk song. But now hearing other artists singing. It doesn’t sound like folk to me. It’s still good.

An Irish war song sung so eloquently and with beautiful Irish women. I love my culture and history 🇮🇪🍀💚
I love how Meav is singing it like she's telling the true story rather than as a war cry.
