This is such a meaningful song with its moving lyrics and tune. Eabha has the perfect voice and talent for this song. This is the first song that I heard Eabha sing in person.
One of my favorites to sing in the shower 😀😉 Beautiful voice and melody ❤ Also love how meaningful the song is 🙏 Makes me want to visit Ellis island some day
. Eabha you transformed that song and made it seem like you had lived through every bit of it: a performance of pure genius. The sentiments are somewhat like " When New York Was Irish " and the best version of that is sung by Paddy Reilly,, my favourite Irish ballad singer.
For those who haven't been, the Ellis Island National Historic Site actually has a more or less life-size statue of Annie Moore in the room where newly-arrived immigrants would have gone for initial processing. She was not tall in stature, but she certainly has a big place in history. When I encountered it, it definitely brought this song to mind.
Annie later married a bakery clerk, and had 11 children, only five of whom survived to adulthood. She died of heart failure in 1924 at 47 years old, and was buried with six of her children in an unmarked plot at Calvary Cemetery in Queens. “She had the typical hardscrabble immigrant life,” Smolenyak said.
A word of caution: while the song's heart is in the right place, many lyrical details were either misremembered or changed for "artistic license" by Brendan Graham when he wrote the song. Most notably, Annie Moore was 18, not 15, and Ellis Island closed in 1954, not 1943. Not Eabha or CW's fault, of course; they're performing the song as-written.
Thank you. With all the disinformation spreading about immigration, your beautiful presentation of this magnificent song reminds the heart of what is the best in America.
@@DarklordZagarna Yeah, I remember what year CW first sang the song, but I forgot that three of the original members had already left. Glad that Lisa and Chloe were there for that song.

Moim zdaniem najlepszy głos w Celtic Woman.... I do tego bardzo ładna piosenka.
What a voice Éabha has.
Classic! Eabha is amazing! The whistle player has tremendous concentration. Don't think I'd be able to focus if she smiled at me!
Wunderschön.
The song was beautifully performed by Eabha.😊
I did not live this song, but it is so perfectly written and composed, it invokes all the emotions.
Belíssima voz -Brasil, São Paulo.
Beautiful Music!🥹

❤ simplesmente Bravíssimo ❤
As an American who hasn't learned this history, this hits hard.

I remember original Celtic Woman singing this song.
If they did, it didn't make it into any of the published tracks-- the prior published CW version was when Alex Sharpe and Lynn Hilary were leads.
@@DarklordZagarna Yeah, I remember what year CW first sang the song, but I forgot that three of the original members had already left. Glad that Lisa and Chloe were there for that song.

素敵な女性ですね。彼女の歌声が大好きです。

😘😘😘
When will you bring your beautiful singing to Australia
MAS ELA E (COMO ALGUMAS OUTRAS CELTIC WOMEN) DESLUMBRANTE!!
Exactly what Island is being sung about?
Ellis Island! Where people from other countries came through to become U.S. citizens
@@renafox4481 It still exists. Why does the lyrics say we'll never see it again?
@@JustUsCrazyBoyz It days that they left Ireland behind and wont ser It again
@@JustUsCrazyBoyz Ellis Island was only open for processing from 1992 until 1943! It is now a tourist destination
@@renafox4481 Interesting history fax!
Annie who?
Fun fact this actually happened in 1892 when Elliss island opened
1892, exactly 100 years before I was born. 😨
Not as good as the old ones
