Thank you, Ben. I enjoyed this video. You inspired me. I'm going to attempt to make two of these, but I will have to do without the equipment (machinery) and the type of wood you demonstrated. Much love to all.
I was like maybe I'll make my own instead of buying an expensive one lol. Knowing the process, makes the price make sense. They deserve their money haha 😅😆
Hi Tyler, thankyou I just thought I would try something different, in my latest pendant video i drilled a horizontal hole for the chain. Thanks for watching mate
Nice! You could probably throw a little mica into the resin to add some more visual interest. What grit progression did you use on the micro mesh? No poly or oil at the end?
I love your work and really enjoyed this video. I am very new to this resin world which I recently came across the internet. I have watched related videos on hybrid wood in which, if I am not wrong pressure pumps and vacuum chambers are involved to remove the moisture from the wood so it does not absorb the resin but sticks on to its surface. This being the exact materials resin and wood does not go to the same process. So how exactly is the absorption prevented?
+Krithika Dino Hi Krithika pressure chambers are mainly used to eliminate bubbles from forming during the curing process, Ive never had any issues with the resin absorbing into the wood, hope that helps Mate
Looks great. I'm just beginning to work with resin and tried a very similar project with a 1/2" square piece of poplar with about a 1/2" gap between the pieces. I used Alumilite Crystal Clear resin and let it set overnight. In the morning I found that the wood had completely absorbed all of the resin. I double and triple checked that it was mixed properly and was in a dry environment about 65°F. Any suggestions?
Thanks Adiel! I made a pendant with 2 broken pieces, here is the video if your interested How to make a Galaxy secret wood pendant | Resin Jewelryruclips.net/video/Z5atzx-YEbU/видео.html
That came out great, been thinking of ways to integrate those techniques into woodturning. Thanks for sharing. Found you through youtube's suggestions, now that I've subbed, I'll have to check out you other videos.
Hello Mr. Ben, May I ask, why didn't you put a finish on the wood? And if you were to put on a finish, what kind of oil or varnish would you use? I am really interested in making pendants, so I would like to know what a good finish would be. Thanks! And what a beautiful pendant!
Thanks, and final question, I promise, what do you think is the best "all around" finish for wood so I only have to have one can or bottle of wood finish? Finally, what would be a good finish quantity for making say, about 10 wooden pendants?
Unfortunately a pressure pot is the only way to remove all bubbles, also make sure your using casting resin as it flows better due to a lower viscosity which gives less resistance for bubbles to rise to the surface
Question about the wood to use for this type of project. I've used Ebony, Cocobolo, and Zebra wood... But when I try to snap them in the vice, I end up with long tails on the snaps, or the wood proves to be very soft and will bend quite a bit, and then it becomes useless. Is there a trick to getting such a clean snap? Maybe drying it? What are your thoughts?
Hey Jared, you could try popping into the oven to dry it out, the wood i used is Merbau and it’s very hard it’s mainly used as a decking timber maybe try something similar, hope it works out for you mate!
Hi I’m new to your channel and also a beginner into crafts like these. I want to do the same project but the only wood I have to spare is treated oak wood. Would that work? (I would polish the wood to a darker colour like yours when done)
Hi I am new to everything, can I just buy like a dremel or tool like this to do everything? and where can I get the nice wood or can i use wood from the forest?
Great work brother, real classy little piece! I can't wait to re set back up my work shop! I had to move and still waiting to find a new space in this new city, but excited as i started playing with epoxy resin not all too long before I had to move, so i'm looking forward to a few of the smaller projects like this instead of jumping right into bigger forms like i was! Larger scale pours aren't cheap and take a lot more time then I had myself believing haha Keep the great vids coming, one new subscriber :)
Its very beautiful! Well done! I know that resin has the tendency to become soft when exposed to high temperatures. Is there any possibility to peel off the wood?
Hey Ben, Nice work, but I have a question. I tried to make something similar to this. I used a pressure pot to remove bubbles. when I got it out the next morning, the resin had reduced in size leaving a void. I tried a second one, this time giving time for the resin to settle and some of the air bubbles time to escape. The next morning, the same thing just not as much void. How do I stop this and get a solid pour? Thanks for your help.
Hi Shane, Thanks Mate! as the bubbles reduce the resin level will drop, i compensate for this by making my pendants slightly larger than i need and sanding down to size, alternatively you can pour over the void if required to fill it up, hope this helps mate.
Hi Ben, beautiful piece! I'm new to your Channel and happy to be here.. quick question, is it a good strong bond between the two pieces of wood? I'd like to make them for my three daughters but not sure if they would break them easily while they're still young? Thanks
Abolutly awesome, when you like break something off and put resin on it, and make it in a symmetrical shape. Its so satisfying.
Brass and darker woods look so nice! Great video!
Thanks Mate
Keep making videos, you have a great on screen personality.
Thanks Jesse
I love simplicity. Awesome idea!
Thanks Tom
That looks like a mini city that is locked up, so beautyful
I like your take on it. The rough grain on the bottom with the smooth top piece looks great!
Don't know how I ended up here but glad I did, that is a neat piece and interesting watching how you made it.
Thanks Scott, I’m glad you like it :)
Very Nice and great inspiration. I do a bit of pen turning and will try this with a fountain pen so you can see the ink
+Stephen Wilson sounds like a great idea Stephen
Brilliant,,looks like a mini mountain range.

I love this. I've been wondering how this is done after seeing some very expensive ones at a craft fair. Definitely going to try it out.

Absolutely beautiful
Thanks Kim
Hi, i have a question: Why did you square the smaller piece of broken wood? Why didn´t you leave the wood spikes on it? Excellent piece of art
Hi Zarra, Just trying something different, Thanks for watching :)
Ben, you are so creative!👍🏼☮️
I love your tutorial and the music? As lover of drums i love it!!!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thankyou Yvonne
I think it's BEAUTIFUL! I Would buy that..no question. ♥

Beautiful work thank you.

Sick! You just earned yourself a subscriber. Love your work and sense of creativity.
Beautiful piece of art.
But i was wondering if there was any special reason why you didn't just drill a whole horizontally through the top piece?
Hi Tyler, thankyou I just thought I would try something different, in my latest pendant video i drilled a horizontal hole for the chain. Thanks for watching mate
I've seen a good amount of your videos. And I must say, wow you're doing a great job. Hell, you are making art everyday. Keep it up.
Thanks Bogdan I really appreciate your kind words :)

Wow, I love this! What could be added to the resin to give it some color for variety?
Thankyou Cindy! You can add ink, i will be uploading a video this weekend that shows pendants with color
Great Job, thanks for sharing !
Thankyou Paulo!
quick question, couldn't you use car scratch polish instead of the micro mesh, t-cut for instance or is it too course ?
great idea! cool project
Thanks Matt!
does the wood have to have jagged edges to adhere. I'd like a smooth edge if possible
Great work, mate! Thank you.
Thanks Mate! :)
Nice! You could probably throw a little mica into the resin to add some more visual interest. What grit progression did you use on the micro mesh? No poly or oil at the end?
I went 1500 to 12000 and no finish
nice work
Thankyou
Ben, “I’m just going to use a casting resin”
Me, “ah yes, casting resin, I thought so” **whilst looking completely perplexed by the craftsmanship
Beautyful!!!!
Thanks Andres

Nice piece but I was hoping you would have had the other broken piece as the top part.... would have looked cool as if it had been pulled apart
Jody Dunne was thinking the same thing ,still nice
Jody Dunne I think it would look like someone stops the time literally. Don’t you think?
My opinion still looks awesome

Thanks mate! A walnut oil would be good
Thank you Mr. Ben! Also, what grit would you use for a general wooden pendant without the resin mixed in for a nice, smooth, and polished finish?
1200
Thanks, and final question, I promise, what do you think is the best "all around" finish for wood so I only have to have one can or bottle of wood finish? Finally, what would be a good finish quantity for making say, about 10 wooden pendants?
So soo COOL ✨✨
Thankyou!
Great. 1) What wood did you use? 2) Which ones you recommend?
great tips. thanks for shareing.
No worries Thomas
Bloody amazing!! I Love it!
Thanks Kyril :)
Thanks for your great videos, can you tell me if you have coated the wood in anything to stop bubbles coming out of it? Thanks :)
coat in resin first or stabilise your wood
Beautiful piece
Thankyou
Wonderful job. How did you chamfer the edges on something so small, by hand?
Thanks John, yes carefully by hand
Besides using a toothpick, how do you eliminate air bubbles in your resin projects
Stir your resin slowly, pour slowly, use a heat gun. And best of all use a pressure pot if you have access to one
I've tried using my heat gun, but not too much success in removing all the air bubbles.
Unfortunately a pressure pot is the only way to remove all bubbles, also make sure your using casting resin as it flows better due to a lower viscosity which gives less resistance for bubbles to rise to the surface

beautiful!
Thanks Normos!
very good work...
Thanks Mate
Any suggestions for breaking the wood without a vice?
A car jack, or 2 bricks and stand in the middle
really like it! Just one question: What is the finish that you put on it?
Hi Ivan, I didn’t put any finish on. It’s straight off the micro mesh

AMAZING WORK man!!!
Thanks Alessandro!
Do you just use a old or new paint pressure pot without all the painter gear on there? What PSI you go up to? Cheers
I used a new pot and go up to 50psi, I’m sure an old one would work just as good
Ben's Worx just a reasonably cheap one off eBay?
Yeah just be weary of cheap ones, just Incase the welds aren’t great
beautiful pendant!!. what camera are you using? it really focus
Thankyou im using a Cannon 70D

Very nice.

Nice work, Ben! It would be cooler using both broken pieces end to end. What's secret about it?
Secret is referring to the style
That's so nice!
beautiful!!
I am Japanese:-)
Thankyou and hello from Australia
did you put oil on it to make it shine? if so, what kind of oil did you use?
Hi mate, no oil just finished with the micromesh pads
Ben's Worx wow, it came out really nice and great vid too
Thanks Mate
Hey Ben, Nice work, but I have a question. I tried to make something similar to this. If you sand down the resin, how do you keep it from getting blurred?
You need to sand it with finer grits until it’s polished, start with 120 grit and go up to 12000
Beautiful greatjob
Thanks mate
I wonder if I can do something similar with one of my wood katanas I make. I'll have to give it a try some day. nice video
Здорово получилось! Молодец.
Thankyou
Cool variant, what kind of wood is this?
Tasmanian oak 👍
Hi Ben, beautiful piece! I'm new to your Channel and happy to be here.. quick question, is it a good strong bond between the two pieces of wood? I'd like to make them for my three daughters but not sure if they would break them easily while they're still young? Thanks
Hi, yes resin sets like concrete there’s definitely no breaking it, thanks for watching :)
Excellent! Thanks again
Ben, that color coded polishing pad set you have, is that something we can get over here in the states?
Yes definitely, I’ve seen it on Amazon it’s called Micromesh :)
Excellent! Thanks again
Does it make any difference if I skip from sandpaper 250 directly to 1000? And how long should I sand with the micro mesh?
Yes don’t skip grits, each grit is meant to reduce the scratches
That is so cool
Thankyou
Muchas gracias , un abrazo, saludos desde Colombia-Medellín , Colombia Artista
