In this episode of the Berlin Marathon special podcast, we're joined by the legendary David Yim. We'll discuss all things Berlin Marathon, from the flat and fast course to the incredible efficiency of the German event. We'll also share some tips and advice for first-time runners, including how to prepare, eat, and get to the Expo.
David has run all six of the World Marathon Majors, so he knows a thing or two about completing this challenging race. He'll be sharing his insights and experiences, and he'll be answering your questions.
The Berlin Marathon is a flat and fast race that winds its way through the historical city. The course is reasonably well-supported, with plenty of water stations, aid (and even a mid race massage!) Yimmy and I have some differences of opinions on this race and we'd love to hear about your experience too. The Berlin Marathon is a great race to go for your personal PB. It's a challenging but rewarding experience that you'll never forget.
So whether you're a seasoned marathoner or just starting, this episode is for you. We'll give you everything you need to know to run your best Berlin Marathon.

Good advice given . It is always interesting to hear about people's experiences . I am doing Berlin this year my second major my first was New York in the heat of 2022 although difficult I loved it .

Great video Meg and David. I am running Berlin in 18 days, and you provided a lot of great advice. Only comment is that I do not agree with you regarding NYC. I ran New York 3 times, including in the 2022 heat wave. The weather can be challenging, and the course is difficult, but the crowds are the best in the world and the atmosphere is electric. Had the same experience all 3 years I ran NYC. Looking forward to the Chicago video.

The signage to the start area was shocking!!!.....Non-existent, we were 300m from the start line and ended up being herded about 3k walk around the back (and directed to the incorrect pen) just following people, hoping we were going in the right direction. Also given incorrect shirt size...... L instead of M ....So maybe as Dave said, had ran out on Friday????, had to give away though as was way too big. Also NO GELS left when arrived at Mauten Gel station!...... got free sticky shoes for 2km to make up for it though....Interesting sounds guaranteed :)
Oh no!! What a polava on the organisation front. It's worth looking online to see if you can get someone selling a finishers shirt for cheap - you never know! But frustrating that you couldn't get one on the day. And sticky feet and no gels is NO FUN AT ALL!! Hope you still enjoyed the experience and did Yimmy proud with your poses in the Gate photo at the end! 😆
