I think it has everything to do wit how a person is raised.. One can wear anything comfortable in the kitchen as long as they didn't wear in bed during the night. My father "may his soul continues to rest in peace"use to reprimand me everytime he notices that I'm wearing a nighty and refuse to eat my food even if I'm wearing a gown to serve him. He even hated a person that steps out of the house to walk around the yard with sleeping clothes but now that I'm old and staying wit my kids in my own home I do things my way how ever I see fit😁..
