    Thank you for the memories...
I trapped and shot many beaver in AR back in the late 80s and early 90s. I used conibear traps and air craft cable snares with bent washers (anchored with T-posts). They all worked good, as long as you knew where to place the traps. That is the real secret: "placement". To supplement the trapping aspect to beaver depredation I incorporated "sniping". In the long run, I think I took more beaver by sniping than trapping. Much practice is needed for sniping beaver. Usually all you have to shoot at is an inch and a half by two inch blob at the front of a wake. 40 gr. hollow point out of a custom Remington 700 22PPC at 50 yards!! Dang I miss those days... It is a life-style, a way of life. Not many men have that in their repertoire of common seance. Good luck. God Speed. I know your soul :) Ps... I skinned all the critters and gave them to an old man who made the pelts into art, and money. We ate more than a few. The meat tastes like a hint of pinesol....

+Muff Potter There are still plenty of beavers in AR! I usually snipe a few myself, I've never seen them be so visible and active as they are in AR. One thing I love about trapping is hearing from other trappers. You're in the brotherhood whether you trapped 40 years ago or just started last month. You know a trapper is a hard working, self reliant individual, and that's my kind of people!

@@coyotetrappingschool1575 I am trying to get in that brotherhood ! Newbie here - I have three conibear 330's, I found about a twenty yard " Beaver playground" the other day, I set all 3 traps , not a Beaver yet. Went back today, fresh chews again ! I had to move the traps, the river is falling, so traps we're exposed. Moved them out Lil more in River. I don't see any tracks. Just fresh chews everyday. How long will they keep coming back to this spot ya think ? Being new to Beaver trapping, I jus try different spots along the bank forward their playground! :)

We are in north Louisiana how do you deal with snake safety during the spring. Cotton Mouths and Copperheads mainly. Video's are great. Close ups of the snare/traps itself with the different locks would be helpful I know its hard to do if your filming yourself maybe try a Gopro on your head or chest for still shots in video.

Be particularly cautious around dams. They have tons of good places for snakes to hide out. Otherwise just be on the lookout. Most of the time you'll see them before you are in danger. I'll work on getting some close ups.
