Best setting video ever!. This guy was clear and walked us through everything. I seen multiple other videos and nobody explained it like this. Every person would leave something out on the other videos even after watching multiple other ones i still didnt get all the information this guy had. Not just what he told us but how he delivered his instructions. Thank you for the most helpful video I've found on these traps.
VERY effect traps. I've been using them for 7 years now for trapping woodchucks on my property. I've caught 43 in the past 7 years. Took 2-3 years off though for health issues. Got 5 this year along with 5 possums and 3 skunks.
This video is fantastic. I bought a couple traps because I have a woodchuck problem at my house. I know these things can be dangerous and I've never touched one in my entire life. Thanks to this video, I was able to set the traps safely. Now I'm crossing my fingers that I find me a woodchuck. Or two
Great illustration! Thank you. I don't know traps, but it would seem to me that the safeties on the 330 are upside-down. If the latch was facing down, gravity wouldn't keep trying to pull it off.
Sounds like the beleisle is superior than the other trap you demonstrated with. I'm sure the cost is significant, but with the safety catches it would be worth it.
The cost isn't that significant more, but you'll make up the additional cost with catches that you wouldn't have made with other traps, tail, foot and leg catches that in another trap the beaver would have come out of
A piece of about 3/8" braided rope with a loop big enough to freely put your booted foot into makes a great trap setter. I especially like the way a slight reduction in pressure on the rope eases the spring into the safety catch. Just as I close the jaws but before I set the trigger I put the safety catch on. Setting the trigger always slightly releases the two spring safeties.
Excellent demonstration and advice! A 220 got my hand once. That was enough for me to be damn careful when setting these things. That 220 really messed up my hand. I can imagine what a 330 would do. Instant LIKE and Subscribe! Greetings from Alaska.
if you angle the springs down as are pulling the trigger and dog together, the safety catches will slide down on the springs and not disconnect as they did when you set the first trap.
330's are way easier to set by hand than 220's. The larger spring gives you more leverage and more to hold onto. I set my 330's by hand. I use setting tongs to set 220's.
That's exactly how I do it and nobody showed me a single thing about these traps I picked up six 220s from a yard sale and I learned how to set them through trial and error😂 now each notch on the dog there represents sensitivity settings for your trap. The closest notch to the frame is the stiffest the farthest away is the lightest obviously the middle is the medium. The more you know the more you know🤷♂️
Thanks! It sounds like these are safer than Duke traps(?). I am just learning to trap, and I REALLY do not want any body parts to end up in one of these things.
Ha you sure don't want to get caught by them! I would say the Belisle are safer out of the box, but there are several different types of safety grippers made for conibear traps. So you could use one of those as well and still be safe. The Belisle traps are more expensive
I've been trapping sense 1961 and I still remember the first time I got caught in a 110 😅😂🎉🎉 that was 64 years ago .... and remember one of the first trapping books I ever read , the title of the book was called THE SCHOOL BOY TRAPPER ,by Pat Sedlak ... not sure if the last name is spelled absolutely correct 😅😊
I used a variety when I started, mainly anything used, but since I switched to Belisles I haven't looked back! I've caught beavers by the tail and foot that no other trap would have held. I pay extra attention to not getting caught with them! But they are hard to beat
Fantastic! Thank you. I will be honest with you though, my asshole slammed shut a few times watching you handle those. I was waiting for a hand to come right off!
you never actually set the trap, I still don't know how to set the trap. What do you do with the safety hooks? How do you take them off once the dog is latched to the the thing?
You are right when you say if a bodygrip trap catches you, "you're in a world of hurt". A fellow trapper got himself caught in one last year and broke his hand. He had to walk out with the trap attached to get help. I've never seen an extra safety. I'll look that up. Nice video thanks.
I've got 330 that someone got me. that has not been use yet and I'm a little scared to use it but this video really does help. because I'm going to have use soon got a beaver call.
I've been whacked by a 330 too! It smarts, but it ain't smart! I thought I broke my hand.....it took a week or so before it was usable again. Not broken, but mighty sore!
Not sure what you mean? I typically don't bait the conibear itself. Some folks do under the ice and in certain situations but it is a great trap just set in a travelway without bait
The comments section has some sound advice for the "school", this training misses some basic safety precautions that should get its' followers twitchy.
Tell that to the raccoon in my attic that was ripping up the insulation, knocking off vent tubing and knocked out the power to the ceiling fan. They die within seconds. These aren't foothold traps.
Your attitude is repulsive to me. I would like to raise a garden and also not have to be concerned about rabies outbreaks. The only thing accomplished by misinformed people such as yourself is wildlife and variety imbalances wich cause far more suffering to the animals than trapping and hunting ever did.
These traps have resulted in pet and wild animals being tortured to death. Trappers represent less than 1% of the population but make it unsafe for the rest of us, out pets and the wildlife we want to view. We need to end this barbaric "hobby" now!
Only stray or uncontrolled pets that are usually hunting wildlife are at risk. Their owners represent a far greater population percentage than trappers, who do whatever they can to avoid catching non-target species (particularly endangered ones cats/dogs like to destroy), even if for no better reason that trap with a non-target cannot catch an earner.

Great illustration , especially showing how those safety catches come loose.
This video is fantastic. I bought a couple traps because I have a woodchuck problem at my house. I know these things can be dangerous and I've never touched one in my entire life. Where did you buy the one hand helper tool? Thx
Great illustration! Thank you. I don't know traps, but it would seem to me that the safeties on the 330 are upside-down. If the latch was facing down, gravity wouldn't keep trying to pull it off.
The force on the dog (latch) is so much greater than the force caused by gravity. The trap can be placed in any orientation without it firing.
Always face your safety hooks down and they won't fall down(off) when you might not be looking.
Sounds like the beleisle is superior than the other trap you demonstrated with. I'm sure the cost is significant, but with the safety catches it would be worth it.

will this trap work lying on the ground over a hole. so it gets the animal coming out of it den?
Irwin quick grip spreader clamp. Life saver on new Dukes with the bad ass springs. Thank me later.
the safety latches won't fall off if you have it orientated where they'll be off, makes it so there's less to worry about

Someone else suggested w/ the chain setter, to drop the chain & "C"-hook down the top spring eye, as a guide when pulling up.
Yep, that's actually what the directions say too. That is a very handy setter
"both of those are off" famous last words
Best video I have seen about setting these traps. Good job and thanks
Hooks upside down and his foot in a live trap. Are you kidding?
Excellent demonstration and advice! A 220 got my hand once. That was enough for me to be damn careful when setting these things. That 220 really messed up my hand. I can imagine what a 330 would do. Instant LIKE and Subscribe! Greetings from Alaska.
I was wondering what this would do to a hand. If it's capable of killing a woodchuck or raccoon, I can't imagine it would be real comfortable.
What size of coniber would I use for trapping nutria?
if you angle the springs down as are pulling the trigger and dog together, the safety catches will slide down on the springs and not disconnect as they did when you set the first trap.
That's a good point, I've upgraded to Belisle's now, once you set the catch its there til you take it off!
Thanks for the advice on using the setting tool. Putting the tool in the eye loops is the way to go. Much easier.
Nice, just snapped my thumb on the first attempt. Gonna call it a day and try again next week.
Haha I don’t blame you.
That was enough to convince me that I don’t need one… 😱
He made that look way easier than it is. It took me 30 minutes with my hands to set a 220 last night

Where I can’t buy this object
Do you use bait?
Good video! Man wish I had enough strength to mash them 330 coils by hand!
Great video im wanting to start getting into trapping soon
Where can I buy that little silver trap setter
Several supply houses carry it including FNT www.fntpost.com/Products/Trap+Setters/Trapper+Ron's+Body+Grip+Safety+Setters
Check out the Bremen 12in squeeze clamp at harbor freight I bought it for my two 20s it sets the springs no problem with

tanks video you mb 650 duke trap ? im mb 650 duke trap
What is the second brand of trap you demonstrate? Balau? Sorry, couldn't catch the name properly.
Belisle, its a tough name to get!
Thanks! It sounds like these are safer than Duke traps(?). I am just learning to trap, and I REALLY do not want any body parts to end up in one of these things.

Great tutorial
How to purchase coz it is not in Amazon

Thanks for the video ... probably saved me a finger or two.
Can a 110 hurt you?
It won't feel good, but a 110 shouldn't break any bones.
Might do some finger joint damage taking longer than bone to heal. It can hurt you.
If you get a finger between the spring and the jaw, they damn sure hurt! Done that!
I've been trapping sense 1961 and I still remember the first time I got caught in a 110 😅😂🎉🎉 that was 64 years ago .... and remember one of the first trapping books I ever read , the title of the book was called THE SCHOOL BOY TRAPPER ,by Pat Sedlak ... not sure if the last name is spelled absolutely correct 😅😊
i use the bridger 330 magnums ..i think im going to switch the model beleisle..not sure on spelling
I used a variety when I started, mainly anything used, but since I switched to Belisles I haven't looked back! I've caught beavers by the tail and foot that no other trap would have held. I pay extra attention to not getting caught with them! But they are hard to beat
Um dude you did a great job. Thanks for your hard work!!!
Fantastic! Thank you. I will be honest with you though, my asshole slammed shut a few times watching you handle those. I was waiting for a hand to come right off!
Great Video! Thanks!
What kind of a mind does it take to come up with that design?

putting in 2 loops prevent from going towards trigger dog...

Knock on wood I haven't been caught in a big one, I got caught in a Belisles 160 and that was bad enough!
I set some today and after watching your video I paid extra attention. Thanks
+RedDogBushCraft Good luck!
I would like to order a catalog on your trapping supplies. Jeff Montgomery at 23364 us hwy31 falkville al.35622 thanks very much.
Coyote Trapping School hope uou all get your balls aught in them
I've got 330 that someone got me. that has not been use yet and I'm a little scared to use it but this video really does help. because I'm going to have use soon got a beaver call.
They aren't as intimidating as they seem, just have to use a little common sense. Good luck!
FREAKING AWESOME VIDEO! Clear, concise, informative! MAGA🇺🇸
good info
you must in sert chain tough the Springsteen loops
That makes sense, I'll try that. Thanks for the tip!
Bought new Dukes 330 and these springs don’t have to be this powerful
My luck is that i would have that chain setter in the wrong side pocket of the hand i got caught...
I bought 3 110, the spring is so strong I had to order a setting tool
I just make one.
ruclips.net/video/vbXBJbLogz0/видео.html
So the only thing I'm not getting is once it's set where would you put it I'm trying to kill some ground hogs
The conibear is an underwater trap. You might want to try a leg hold trap
Hard to use your feet in a swamp.
You got that right!
👍
I have biggest setter and at 76 years old ? Just to powerful
R.I.H.
i've been caught in a 330..not fun..
I've been caught in a 160, sure wouldn't want to go any bigger than that!
I've been whacked by a 330 too! It smarts, but it ain't smart! I thought I broke my hand.....it took a week or so before it was usable again. Not broken, but mighty sore!
Nope for me on man handling them. I got both hands
Caught in one why back in Mountain. Try driving 4 wheeler with hands that hurt like hell
Gotcha.
So u did the bait last. ...somehow.
Not sure what you mean? I typically don't bait the conibear itself. Some folks do under the ice and in certain situations but it is a great trap just set in a travelway without bait
@@coyotetrappingschool1575 those 2 prongs. I always used them to shiskobob bait
Conibare traps scare me
The comments section has some sound advice for the "school", this training misses some basic safety precautions that should get its' followers twitchy.
Ok all I’m getting is a bunch of jibber jabber I don’t understand a thing
Not a trapper?
Man, this activity of yours is repulsive. Why are you teaching people to torture and kill wild animals?
Tell that to the raccoon in my attic that was ripping up the insulation, knocking off vent tubing and knocked out the power to the ceiling fan.
