1st chair orchestra band (because I was the best of the best before I quit)- Millennium by Richard Meyer... man that piece gave me chills I recommend listening to it it’s a very stars wars there’s piece but man I loved that piece so much
Most notably, the piece that made the entire seventh grade band fall in love with band was Shadows Unleashed by Brian Balmages. In high school we played a lot of Randall Standridge pieces, but Imaginarium and The Witching Hour were my favorites. My senior year of high school I performed in an honors band and we prepared and performed Standridge's Deus Ex Machina with Mr. Standridge himself! (Dream come true! haha) I am in my first year of college band and things have looked entirely different due to the pandemic. However, my favorite wind symphony piece I've listened to this year is hands down Come Sunday by Omar Thomas!
Come Sunday is my official “Ear Candy of the Year” winner for 2020 lol. Also, I wonder how many people have a Balmages piece as their “piece that made them love band”.
