Like...theres no play there Larry!!!! What are you doing Larry?!?! Omg how did you do that... Lol I swear thats me when I watch him. How incredible was his era and style of basketball and the deep talent through the 80's and 90's? Very special. Salute Larry Bird! And never forget Magic won 5 and Bird won 3.
Let's just ignore the fact that Dr.J. past his prime, schooled the rookie Bird in the 79/80 playoffs. The video doesn't mention it. Let's ignore the fact that Dr. J was 2-1 against Bird in the playoffs when the Sixers were his team. Let's ignore the fact that Bird's team was the defending champions and heavy favorites when they lost to the Sixers in the 82 playoffs. Larry can be the second best.
I agree he was too up until Jordan came along and Jordan actually got beat by Larry Bird a few times in Michael Jordans early couple of years in the NBA. But Jordan did have 6 or 7 NBA championship titles. I disagree with Dr J being better than Bird maybe for a couple games but career wise Bird Beat Dr. J . Bird could do it all, he was a excellent shooting 3's & he could outsmart his opponents under the basket in heavy cover. Bird also was excellent in passes for assists he could do it all unlike Dr J who was only good in the paint under the basket. As for MJ I still don't think noone has beat Michael Jordans NBA championship titles not even LeBron James. If LeBron would've went up against Larry Bird he'd have gotten schooled in shooting and out rebounded. Larry Bird is a Basketball 🏀 legend that will be talked about 100+ years from now of one the greatest to ever play. Even Michael Jordan said Larry Bird was the toughest he ever played against in his early years before Bird Retired.
@@TheMeefive Let's not ignore the fact that the Dr only won 1 championship and Bird won 3..... let's not ignore the fact that Bird won 3 mvp awards in a row..... nba stats not aba stats...
Im glad he doesnt play today though. He would probably be forced to mostly space the floor and take threes, instead of being able to use the entire half court to play his game. A lot of his talent would be wasted today. How many of those passes to guys surrounding the hoop would be obliterated because theres hardly such a thing as the post or inside game anymore?
Reason is simple. Disney's ESPN is fake journalism that is directly in bed with certain sports leagues and conferences (Disney played a big part in creating the SEC juggernaut in college football and that was because conferences like the Big 10 created their own network). They promote someone in every league or conference they own as the "GOAT" to market their current product. Same goes for FOX. They market what they televise. The only reason MJ is still relevant is his brand which they can also profit off of. Wilt, Bird, Magic, Karrem have no real brand. Want it to change? Unsub from ESPN. Cancel Hulu. If you HAVE to see a certain game go to a sports bar. Maybe they will find some ethics and truth with enough financial losses.

Sir, you make the best and most consistent quality sports documentaries on the entire platform. Preparing to enjoy your vids is just like prepping myself to enjoy a movie cuz i know you only produce bangers with your researched and professionally compiled performance montages with your iconic voice and commentary in the background. Truly timeless. We all fans, (me especially 😁) would be very grateful if you Mr Vincent would take the time and make documentaries on the following personalities in the future 🙏🏽 - - The greatest power forward of all time and also arguably the greatest defensive player of all time, a true team-playing basketball superstar who didn't want the stardom, mastered and executed the fundamentals such that he was named after them, a savant who was hardly excited or depressed, a case can be made for him to be the greatest basketball player ever, and my personal number 1 favorite player of all time, Tim Duncan. - The greatest rebounder of all time, and also has a good case for being considered the greatest defensive player of all time, there was and never will be anyone like him On or Off the court, he embodied social media and news trivia before smartphones and Instagram was a thing, Jordan personally asked for him to be on their team and even dragged his drunk ass from bed while Carmen Electra was in the room when he left for a two days vacation, a lockdown specialist who'd regularly clamp Shaq down and was a hidden genius at understanding and exploiting the mechanics and dynamics of a ball in motion, on the ground or in the air, and gifted with never ending stamina and endurance, the man who made me interested in NBA in the first place, Dennis Rodman. - Another defensive gem who's considered to be the greatest undrafted NBA player of all time, and has the credentials to prove that he should be the greatest defensive player of all time by being the 4 time DPOY and tied with Mutombo in that accomplishment, considered by many to be the physically strongest or at least the most sturdiest NBA player ever and also one of the most intimidating, his involvement snowball-effected the darkest event in NBA history which is remembered as the Malice In The Palace, and was a crucial piece in the victory of the most underrated NBA championship win by the Detroit Pistons in 2004, Ben Wallace.
I have watched this, and other videos on the same subject, many times. I am not a youngster, so I have become a little overly sentimental. I still cloud up, a little, with every watching of this. Yes, Bird and Magic were and are legends in their own time. The reason I cloud up is that basketball, of this quality, and players, with this kind of heart, don't appear to exist anymore, and I miss it, with feelings that resemble the loss of a loved one.

Remember when NBA players left it all on the floor to get that win? No flopping, no crying, no bitching? I hope it happens again. Larry Legend will always be in the top 10 GOAT.
Agreed. But when God gives you a talent He expects you to develop it. Bird spent an inordinate amount of time deve, oping that talent. Then he made his entire team better. THAT is God-given talent.
everyone talks about his offense, but it was his defense that made him special. **led the league in defensive win shares 4 times**, only Mikan, Russell and Duncan have done it more times.

There is not a player in the world today that could come close to what Larry Bird brought to the game, he gave everything he had to the game of basketball. @calvinsimpson1301 i agree, but if Larry Bird was a stats chaser, he could have put up just crazy numbers.
He just plays the game the right way
Except the year he quit on Bill Fitch. Bird later admitted Fitch could really coach and he felt bad.
The ppl that hate on bird are hilarious... you realize hes arguably top 5 ALL TIME right? The lack of respect he gets from some ppl is insane..
Factz 💯 no cap
Best small forward ever. 5th on my list
It's because he's white. 100% fact.
Who's Hating?
Top 4
I saw him play his last game and was given a hardcopy Celtics 100 years autograph of Bird on the inside woth the two tickets. It is still one of my favorite sports memories ❤️
Hand written autograph?
@@Cereal_Killer007 yes
@@atlasmasterdmind4070 Larry Bird sat down and put his signature on 10,000 cards? If thats true then thats more impressive than anything he ever did on a basketball court. That would take a entire month of your time just about
@@Cereal_Killer007what?😅 A signature takes all of 5-6 seconds. Bird probably knocked out 10,000 in a day lmao
@@poindextertunes Okay, 6 seconds per signature, and assuming there was 10k people attending that game ,thats 60k seconds, which is 17 hours roughly. So it would be possible in 24 hours, but realistically it probably took him 2 days. It still woulda took me a month though. 🤣
Been waiting for this one for a long time!! One of the greatest to ever put on a Celtic uniform. The only greater Celtic is Bill Russell!!
BIRD is the best of all time. I'll take him over any player in the history of basketball.
And you would be wrong, according to every living GM past and present.
You haven't got a clue dude , stick to volleyball .@@JL-rv9lm
And you would be correct 💯 percent
@@JL-rv9lmthe Red was and will always be the greatest GM , and he picks the legend as a junior. Figure it out
Larry went 6th. Ended up by far the best pick in a lousy draft. Every gm including Red would rate Wilt, Jordan, Russell, Kareem, LeBron, Oscar over Bird.
Joseph Vincent? You've done it again... and again... and again, and I cannot thank you enough, because as a young athletic prodigy that *DIDN'T* make it? You remind me that I still had the things that make people great. Thank you so much my man. 🙏
Beautiful the way The Chief was ready! Caught the ball in stride and slammed it home!!!
Ah man this gonna be a classic !!! Let’s go JV
I am a born and raised die hard lifetime Laker fan from Los Angeles California and I absolutely love and admire and respect Larry Bird. That's really saying something I'm telling you. Magic was my first ever favorite NBA player...second was Eddie Jones...and then soon as Kobe Bryant came to the Lakers it was him. Haven't had a favorite player on the Lakers since. Larry Legend was absolutely unreal...brilliant...a magnificent basketball player. I play basketball as well and some of the stuff he did to this day still blows my mind.
You can tell a true laker fan by whether they know how popular Eddie jones was in the 90s
Larry FUCKING LEGEND Bird is the greatest player of all time
Let's just ignore the fact that Dr.J. past his prime, schooled the rookie Bird in the 79/80 playoffs.
🤣🤣🤣 he was awesome but slow down son
@@TheMeefive Let's not ignore the fact that the Dr only won 1 championship and Bird won 3..... let's not ignore the fact that Bird won 3 mvp awards in a row..... nba stats not aba stats...
Larry Joe Bird!!! Thank you for this great documentary of the best NBA player, in my opinion. Larry Legend!
Larry could BALL!!
His own words. I show up, play basketball and everything else took care of itself........
What more is there to say!!!
The way he was so good and *knew* he was so good was what really made him a monster lmao
Larry Bird would still dominate today in the NBA
Great job putting this together - as someone who has been a Celtics fan for life, I couldn't love this more!
Best player "EVER" in my book. Period 🏀 🐐
🤣🤣🤣🤣 slow your roll son🤣🤣 yes he was awesome but your book is wrong
It's fun watching the expressions of his opponents. It's like that can't believe what just happened. Larry Bird is a legend.
That brother was gifted, but he had a work ethic, too (from what I have heard).
"If you get paid to go to work, you go to work."
Was just thinking I've not seen one of your masterpieces!!!
Thanks you so much for your work!!!!
Wow. Nice to see Bird get the JV treatment. Thanks!
Larry Legend would thrive in the modern NBA, truly an all time great
Im glad he doesnt play today though. He would probably be forced to mostly space the floor and take threes, instead of being able to use the entire half court to play his game. A lot of his talent would be wasted today. How many of those passes to guys surrounding the hoop would be obliterated because theres hardly such a thing as the post or inside game anymore?
The fact nobody ever put him in their top 10 lists is crazy to me
They do
@@ko-rp7ge I never see his name in any Top 10 list. Recently ive seen Kobe slide off peoples Top 10 also, which is completely absurd
@@DoNotReanimate He lost 1 game in the playoffs to Jordan but went on to win the series 4 - 1. I believe his record against Jordan is 12 - 1, but that may be off by one or two im not sure

Lol Dr J beats him in all time fg%, blocks, and steals Bird wins in assists and rebounds. Points are practically a dead heat. DR. J as the Sixers main man beat Bird in the playoffs 2-1. Mr. Clutch. My GOAT and childhood hero. As a kid, it was the incredible skill he had. Any hand or distance. Better rebounder than Patrick Ewing. Just as good a passer as Magic - just not that fancy. Incapable of giving up. Lifted his teammates into the HoF.
Later I learned he was also announcing all this sh*t to the competition: "Two dribbles, to the left, off the glass" Playing a game left-handed out of boredom.
Quick reminder: He was an All Star in his rookie season. And 4th in MVP-voting, which would also be his worst position for the next 8 years: 2nd,2nd,2nd,1st,1st,1st,2nd,and 2nd

Joseph Vincent done it again another top tier documentary that be right along any ESPN documentary simply Amazing 👏. 😃👍
We all fans, (me especially 😁) would be very grateful if you Mr Vincent would take the time and make documentaries on the following personalities in the future 🙏🏽 -
- The greatest power forward of all time and also arguably the greatest defensive player of all time, a true team-playing basketball superstar who didn't want the stardom, mastered and executed the fundamentals such that he was named after them, a savant who was hardly excited or depressed, a case can be made for him to be the greatest basketball player ever, and my personal number 1 favorite player of all time, Tim Duncan.
+1 for Rodman
He was very good but he wasn’t Russell or wilt
I have watched this, and other videos on the same subject, many times. I am not a youngster, so I have become a little overly sentimental. I still cloud up, a little, with every watching of this. Yes, Bird and Magic were and are legends in their own time. The reason I cloud up is that basketball, of this quality, and players, with this kind of heart, don't appear to exist anymore, and I miss it, with feelings that resemble the loss of a loved one.
Thank you for your vids, Joe.
I have really enjoyed them over the years.
-Best Wishes !
I loved watching basketball during that era. Everybody did! Seems like so much has changed now.
Larry Bird is still my Favorite player of all time! Trully a legend.
Growing up in 80s,90s All we had as a Family that we all loved was The Celtics and Red Sox.We were Die-hards (still am)Goin to the old garden and watching Bird,Parish,Mchale beating the Lakers.and then the Sox yes we lost alot up until 04 but we never gave up.We went to so many games.(So cheap back then)plus u always knew someone with tixkets ..lol my first Celtics Game watchin Bird 1984..the hooks were in.I was all in the green machine..and then the Red Sox.1st Sox game vs Baltimore Orioles, The Great Cal Ripken.$4 i became a bleacher creature and a i found my first love...i was hooked..And yes i thought i was in HEAVEN..PROB SEEN OVER 450-500 TICKETS TO THE SOX( not counting how many i saw while i worked there for 2.5 years(for free). And From 84 til bird retired prob between 100+ not including championchip games. Went to Larry Bird Night at old garden..what a sendoff.then the other holy church of basketball was torn down..so many great memories watching with my family and goin to games. We e were always going.tcketa were so cheap. Just an unbelievable time to be a kid and A die hard Boston sports fanatic..still am and even worse or better..lol
Perhaps the most well rounded basketball player ever. Certainly the most balanced player I have ever seen.
"Larry was a fucking problem" MJ
It was pure FUN to watch Boston play when Bird came aboard bounce passing between two players legs was ...........indescribable. When Bird had the ball if any of his team mates ran for the basket Bird would pass to them, ask Dennis Johnson, he knew.,
Remember when NBA players left it all on the floor to get that win? No flopping, no crying, no bitching?
I hope it happens again. Larry Legend will always be in the top 10 GOAT.
One of my favorite documentaries I've seen.
Bird's skills are innately God-given.
Agreed. But when God gives you a talent He expects you to develop it. Bird spent an inordinate amount of time deve, oping that talent. Then he made his entire team better. THAT is God-given talent.
On the court, he was an animal. In real life, he was a humble man who never forgot where he came from. LEGEND!!!!
everyone talks about his offense, but it was his defense that made him special. **led the league in defensive win shares 4 times**, only Mikan, Russell and Duncan have done it more times.
Larry had something other players did not: focus, attention, discipline, encyclopedia knowledge of all aspects of the game, extreme confidence, teamwork, NO ego, psyche qualities, dedication, motivation, constant learning...etc. etc. Humble too.
Dude was an absolute beast they forget he would risk his life over a loose ball
Outstanding video. Said it a thousand times Larry is the greatest small forward of all time. Those who disagree I got to ask did you actually see him play outside the limited video on him? He cooked everybody whenever he wanted and was a no nonsense cold blooded killer
fully agree people that think larry bird would be "mid" in this day and age are just plain idiots.
Larry would average 60 in today’s NBA with how soft they play on defense. The 80’s was tough. Name one time you’ve seen a star player like LeBron diving on the floor for a loose ball in today’s NBA. They so princess these days.

So he's better then LeBron?
@@atg1338 yes I’ve been lucky enough to watch both. Bird was a beast and a true heartbreaker n killer not disrespecting James but group Birds 3 mvp seasons together I don’t think you will see James put up those numbers. Now if you’re talking greatest total playing career it’s James. But I’ll take a healthy Bird all day long. He didn’t have any weaknesses and hustles and dives for lose balls, boards and you knew who took the big shots and hardly missed after he told you the play 😂😂😂
There is not a player in the world today that could come close to what Larry Bird brought to the game, he gave everything he had to the game of basketball. He was the kind of man who could dig really deep when it counted, and even deeper when it was impossible. Watching Larry play basketball was like watching a magician on the level of someone like Houdini performed magic tricks, it was magical. I don’t think there’s really any other way to put it.
