I was born on 3/3 and Larry Bird inspired me to shoot thousands of shots every day. I could hit from inside half court any time I wanted. Sadly, I was too small to get very far but I had more fun shooting a basketball than anything else. This video brought me back to my youth. Thank you so much for that. :)
Hey Face PC gaming....I think u should add Urlacher too your list of Greats he's Soo underated n just on a bad team...looks deep into his stats n skills
I don't think they do because they don't see whole games to see the whole chess Bird was playing or the importance of the shots. Highlights are out of context.
I saw an interview with Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain. They were asked to pick 5 players for a team, not including themselves. They both picked Larry Bird.
So it's unanimous among the Greatest Centers of all time. (This is just one of a handful of times KAJ has said this about LJB): ruclips.net/video/rbVJAp7Mg1U/видео.html
Larry is the goat himself, he was the only one that could surpass his antecesor w mj and Magic, they were the 3 BEST players of all time for sure, when someone talking about the goat debate, the should put Larry Legend on the table.
Man the way Kareem speaks of Bird should tell you everything you need to know. As a overall player Bird would always be the 1st name on my fantasy draft.
As a die hard Lakers fan.....I can honestly say that Larry Legend was and is the best SF to play the game period! What he, Magic and Jordan did for the league can not be reproduced or measured in any way and in no way can or should LeBron think he is on the same level as these 3 men.
Bird and Magic could score with the best, but what made them GREAT was their passing. Nobody passed better, and today's game is sorely lacking that level of teamwork.
Larry Joe was a small forward whose lifetime assists average was higher than 90 % of the guards he played against. There have been SO many videos made of all his outrageous passes, and I can watch 'em over and over. The man had more presence of mind on the court than anyone before or since. Just ask Kareem!
@@papa-ql3xb Yes Bird's Court Sense was the best in History. For a guy that couldn't jump or run he was around the ball constantly. He could guess where every rebound was coming down and beat anyone to the spot to get a rebound. Then his passing after rebounding was out if sight. The young people today just don't have a clue. Larry could play for sure today with all the weak rules to make scoring easier.
You know, people hate LeBron but he is almost always near the top of the assists, averaging almost 10 his whole career (his Career average is 7.5) Along with a career Point average of 27, and Rebound average of 7.4). He's not Larry Legend, but he IS one of the most underrated passers, particularly by fans. Lol
The Most Unique player Ever. Played small forward but averaged more rebounds than Ewing, McHale and Parish. Best shooter of his day but was arguably the best passer as a small forward. Slow and not great at defense but made some of the greatest defensive plays of all time. Tip passes, over the backboard, clutch shots... never knew what he was going to do next
John Carroll he was a good defender. Averaged more steals and same # of blocks as James. Also has more defensive win shares than james. There were so many absolutely great defenders in Birds era that he got over shadowed a little bit. Not great but very good
Imagine if he was selfish and took more shots , he'd be in the 30,000 Point pantheon. But no. He wanted to win.An all time player was also a team player. Wow.
Great video....He was the best ever...The only guy that I have ever seen the opposing team cheering for him..Atlanta...Never ever have I seen that..falling off the bench and high fiving each other for the guy that's kicking your azz..you are cheering him on..unbelievable...The GREATEST....you will never see that again..only LARRY LEGEND....#33
I think MJ is the only one who can really have an equally strong or stronger case for just a crazy level of greatness at their peak rooted in their psychological makeup. He’s such a unicorn too. Nobody is like Bird, including even the oft analogized (because their both blonde, white, 6’7”-6’9” and slow yet great all around) Luka as great as he’s been (and he’s still young as fuck so we’ll see, Bird was older as a rookie in the NBA than Luka is today lol, and with the current state of health/training/medical technology and knowledge Luka might avoid the sort of white boy curse of relatively premature physical deterioration compared to their black counterparts like Tom Brady has although quarterbacking, especially in the TB12 style, is less taxing physical on your whole body than playing the 1/2/3 positions as a superstar in the NBA is).
Those guys were fined for that. I think it was the very definition of sportsmanship and should've been praised. Plus it shows their respect of good play and their love of the game.
The Hick from French Lick,Larry Joe Bird.....Indiana St Symores,1979 Final Four Bird vs Magic.....1980 ROY.....1981 1984 1986 NBA CHAMPS.....BEST TRASH TALKER.JUST ask CHUCK.....
When Bird was being recruited to Indiana State a scrimmage was set up between Bird, his brother Mark and one of his friends from his high school team VS the current Indiana State team. Bird was given two players probably not starters to make it a five on five. The Bird/French Lick team in jeans and tennis shoes dominated the Indiana State team over and over again. Bird then was added to this shitty college team and took them undefeated to the NCAA championship game as a senior losing only to Magic and a loaded Michigan team. That's how good Bird was. He then was added to a Boston Celtics team that had won 29 games the year before he got there and with basically the same roster minus in his prime HOFer Bob MaCadoo (4 and 16 with the Celtics) turned the 29 win team into a 61 win team. That's how good Bird was.
I was fortunate to see Bird play back in the '80's. Unmatched skill set. The crowd would just vocally marvel at his plays and moves. Especially his passes. Opposing players on the court and on the bench would just look at each other in dis belief. LOL. As Dominique Wilkins said, "There'll never be another Larry Bird. Never..." I agree...
I can't help it. I see a Larry bird video, I click! Like there is still something ive missed that could still amaze me. I was a Hawks fan in the 80's and 90's and from the first time I saw Larry play as a child rooting against him every step of the way, I still remember that feeling every time he shot the ball! The awful pit in my stomach, to the hope I was right, "No way that goes in"! The only thing that helped then and now was Larry did that to everyone! Even Jordan! 2x sweeping the goat had me thinking about buying a back brace instead of Jordan's! Hehe.
Cheers to you man. I've always been a Bird fanatic. He's been my favorite sports figure for 4 decades. I used to hate all of his opponents. But as I got older, I grew to really appreciate and marvel the great players and teams the 80's Celtics went up against. The Sixers, Bucks, Cavs, Hawks, Bulls, Pistons and of course the Lakers...incredibly talented squads with HOF players on each of them. The battles Bird and Nique had...you just don't see it anymore. Best era EVER in NBA history.
I remember those days. Just from the opposite fan base. I still feel like Jordan wouldn't have been as successful had Bird not had a bad back and played another 4 or 5 years.
@@gogetter5137 I used to go wait in line for Celtics tickets. As you probably already know, people would get in line the evening before and spend the night there waiting to get tickets. One time I got there at 5 in the morning. I couldn't believe how long the line was. We all got into small groups and chatted while we waited. After they opened, the line was moving slowly. In the afternoon, I noticed a guy in the group behind me that wasn't there before. Then he got into our group and started talking with us. Before you knew it, he got into the group infant of us and started talking with them. Well, I wasn't having that. I'm a woman only 5 ft. tall, but I tapped him on the shoulder and told him to get behind me. He was pissed, but he got behind me. 10 minutes later he tried it again. So, once more I tapped him on the shoulder and told him to get behind me again. There was no way I was letting this creep get in front of me. To make a long story short, 5 o'clock comes and I was the last person they let in. He had to come back the next day. I loved it.
They're asking all these NBA great legends actually I think some of the best ever and they're giving props to Larry Bird I love it. ❤️ Mad respect for all these players.
"If I had to choose a player to take a shot to save a game I'd choose Michael Jordan; If I had to choose a player to take a shot to save my life...I'd take Larry Bird." - Pat Riley
I disagree, but just partly. Because it’s a 2 part answer. It depends on the situation. If I can get a play where Larry can come of a clean screen and he can set his feet. I go with Larry. Now if we are facing a top notch defensive team with athleticism, I draw a play where MJ can create a shot.
I don't think we will ever see anyone like him again. With what God give him he made the most of it. He wasn't the fastest, quickest or tallest, just the smartest basketball IQ ever who played the game! Thank you Larry I will always treasure you! Though I never personally met you.
I was born on the 3rd day of the 3rd month and grew up watching Bird demolish even the best defenders in the game. 33 has always been my favorite #. The Bird /Magic rivalry was the most incredible display of skill and basketball IQ this sport has ever seen. Michael Jordan was the most physically gifted player.... Magic and Bird didn't have natural athleticism. .. jumping high, hang time etc... They had IQ, court vision and guts!
Well, Wilt Chamberlain is who I would put as the greatest pure talent. Nobody in the history of the NBA has come close to his level of scoring for a season. He could have scored a lot more, but changed his game to a more defensive game the second half of his career.
@@ORagnar I agree. Very athletic. The only thing that stops most people from admitting it is the much lesser athletic ability in the league at the time. He was 25 years ahead of almost everyone else. Man among boys. In today's game he would probably average high 30's to low 40's. Bill Russell was his only true opposition.
Birds athleticism is under stated..he was not slow, and was a great athlete who hustled up and down the court for 48 minutes every game. His ability to shoot right or left handed and created shots from anywhere in paint or anywhere across the half court line was unmatched and was the epitome of athleticism..his fall away jumper was unmatched then or ever.
My first NBA game was in Seattle Washington. As a Celtic fan when I got to my duty station the first thing I did was go buy a ticket to see Larry Bird play. It was his last year! I got to the Kingdome early and before I knew it hundreds of people started gathering outside by the fence and I couldn't figure out why. When the Celtics bus pulled up everyone of us was chanting Larry, Larry, Larry! I thought to myself here we are 3000 miles from Boston and hundreds of people were there for him! Incredible! I'll never forget it!
What a moment of a lifetime, I would have loved to see that!! Wow!!! I'm from Connecticut and was a Celtics and Red Sox fan. The rivalries of the Lakers and Yankees, made the games and their level of play even higher! I didn't really care for basketball until I watched Bird and the celtics play... then I fell in love with the game!! 😂😍 He and magic saved basketball!! I think Jordan and Bird were the bestand I give the nod to Bird because he was 6-0 against Jorden in the playoffs and had a winning record during the regular season. Bird won 3 MVP's in a row, Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell were the only other players to do this. No one to this day has done that! 86 Celtics... arguably one of the all time best teams!!
Nice story. But one minor correction. That game wasn't in the Kingdome, it was at the Seattle Center Coliseum. I would have killed to be there. I just didn't know it was going to be my last chance to see him... #regrets.
I moved to Boston late in 1982. While not being a huge B B fan , I started watching a game at the pub. I noticed people there were crazy about sports so I asked the guy next to me whatever happened to that curly haired blonde guy from Indiana named Bird? I said I watched him in college ball and he could shoot from anywhere on the court. The man replied, “look up, we got him”. I enjoyed 10 years of Celtic greatness and still have yet to see a BB player play with all of his heart like Larry Bird. Still my favorite of all time.
The way you cant touch players now and the way the game has opened up allowing guys to shoot 3s like crazy. He would tear up the league now and in era he is transient player. Players like that can play in any era
Interchangeable with the top 3. Jordan will always and forever be number 1. Kareem was 2 in my opinion and 3 is tied with Bird and Magic. Just imagine if Bird and Magic's careers weren't cut short. It could've been Jordan fighting for the 3rd spot.
@@21kburd I don't think it is MJ better than Bird, it is open conversation and debatable. MJ the greatest as focused on one role, but as a player who played through others as well by passing to them, changing their energy, leading them, and impacting the court everywhere from far away passes to close ones and medium, and from rebounding to steals and all the offence, while also being the best in the critical moments which is big point, when the points are heavier, so critical plays, Bird may be better. Actually probably is. Jordan required Pippen. Who is one of most underrated players of all time. And great innovative coaching system of Phil Jackson with innovation of triangle offence. Etc. Before that Jordan was only players jt good for himself (even his best years were then), but not very big impact to the team. Whereas Pippen a player with great impact on a team. Bird since rookie could have a great impact on a team. Probably any team. Because he had so many aspects. So they are the two debatable ones. Then Kareem for playing in 2 great eras always amazing is a great case and also in conversation. And Magic for some reasons while doing his role in a huge team. LeBron no because of many reasons. Many situations showed a person that does not do the change. Even the Cleveland champ year has the other player in my mind, who played amazing to change that finals.
I remember that game. Bird and Dominique were going back and forth hitting clutch shot after clutch shot. They didn't miss. Two real legends going at it. Don't see that today.
When Bird took Zeke's Word that he was joking and ended that turmoil Larry showed what a Class Act he was. This was the best era of NBA Basketball. The stolen pass then finding DJ to just break the Pistons hearts is the biggest steal of a pass and steal of the game and Series made Bird Immortal.
Obviously Bird winning his 3 MVP's is a row, is the most impressive thing I think he's done...from an achievements standpoint. A guy his size, speed, and athletic ability (sometimes lack there of), and still pulls it off with Jordan, Magic, etc, etc in the league. Incredible
I was 8 watching that game 7 Indiana vs Boston game, was just a great feeling that I'll never forget. It was just inspirational and Birds curtain call IMO. He had nothing else to offer and was done, due to age and injury, and was willing to pass the torch to Reggie Lewis. 100% legend.
Kevin Bright I don’t like Lebron and you have a argument for Wilt being number 1 but Kobe a 44 percent shooter and missed more shots than any player player in history and was never clutch a matter of fact he suxxed in most playoff game missed game winning shots only too have Horry,Fisher,Shaq even Artest bailed Kobe out sometimes Kobe wouldn’t even hit the freaking back board no way is Kobe better than Kareem,Bird,Dr.J,Wilt,Duncan,Hakeem,Shaq I could name more Kobe number 1 is laughable Jordan was waaaaaaaaay better than Kobe you must be 30 years or younger and don’t know nothing about basketball
Kevin Bright I think we both would agree Bird don’t get the credit he deserves Bird didn’t have a weakness in my mind he is top 3 alltime the things he did on the court was amazing
To Donnie Pate: Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was the longest run-on sentence ever seen on RUclips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have you ever heard of punctuation?
Watching Larry Bird play basketball is a bit like watching Roger Federer play tennis. Such crafty footwork. Seemingly effortless dominance. I never watched Bird footage until this year, and man, it's amazing to watch. He catches defenders flat-footed so often, made even top-tier defenders look foolish. I saw a clip where he got four guys on the opposing team to all jump for a pump fake at the same time, and then scored the easy layup.
I watch everything I can about Larry. Even old full games. This is a great video, brother! Larry Legend is god! Best SF ever! “And there’s a steal by Bird... underneath to DJ, he lays it in!!”
@Jason ring;Bird stealing Isaiahs inbounds pass almost stopped my heart!! Everybody on my west-central Detroit block were walking around in a stupor all that dark day!!
Grew up in Boston. Lived every minute of L. B.’s career. I won’t even bother you with what I had to go through to catch a game, this was before ESPN was a thing. Everybody needs a hero. Larry was our hero. By the way, that shoot out with Dominique? He hit some very very difficult shots. I think Dominique is underrated.
I grew up in the Havlicek era and I never thought there would be anyone who could out-hustle Havlicek, but Bird came the closest and maybe watch every game.
His retirement Ceremony Filled up a whole arena, were you couldn't get tickets just for retirement. No game, no, nothing just that that's how impactful he was. That's how beloved he was in Boston. I could sit here and text non-stop about bird. And what he did for the game with Magic? Of course, that duo. Saved NBA basketball. Anybody that loves the league Needs to give thanks To both of those men. Thank you bird thank you magic
I could watch Bird play and listen to the best players of all time talk about him for hours. He's like a mythical God they will talk about for hundreds of years as his legend just grows & grows.
And he did it in 80s .. hell doing it today is not a big deal... this nba today they can put up crazy numbers because they are not allowed to play defense
Larry Bird is the poster child of “ Hard work pays off “ a humble human who worked hard at his craft!!! We could use more of this in our life 😎🥰 Ballin is life #33
Larry bird is 4 1/2 yrs older than me and though you can learn alot about his game and his trash talk on you tube , but unless you got to watch him play you'll really never know just how good he was , m j got to play against him and he gives bird more flowers 💐 than anyother player period. all the greats do that should tell you something
I love how people say Bird wasn’t “athletic”, but how can you not be athletic when you’re doing what Bird did? Maybe, when God made Larry Bird, He did such a fabulous job that He must have said, Oh, what have I done? This man is going to be so great that I have to give this man a handicap to make it a little more fair to the others; and so, He made him just a smidge less “athletic”, and that’s how Larry Bird was made.
I wouldn't go that far Larry WAS beatable..... Piston bulls Lakers a lot of great players and teams them days but best 3pt All-Star in 3pt shootout wat he hit sumthin like 17 balls in a row two Years in a row
@@matthewrogers6866 larry was beatable? He played for a team genius. The boston celtics. If you want to play that dumb game, then the Celtics dominated the Bulls in the 80s. Does that make Jordan any less great??

Matthew Rogers you are a liar. MJ never beat Magic in his prime. In fact Magic was quite ill and in fact had to retire mere months after that series. MJ was a back seat pussy until the weak assed 90's era of ball fell into that shoe salesman lap.
I grew up in this era, fans today owe a great debt to Larry and Magic. What fans today don’t know is that the NBA was in serious trouble back in the early 80’s. If not for Larry and Magic there wouldn’t be an NBA. Their rivalry brought the NBA from the brink of total collapse and right into prime time.
I grew up in indiana, and I followed LB through college. I graduated high school in 78 before the 3 point shot. I feel LB was the 3 point man before it was real.
Great video, love the way Bird trash talked, he did it with style, it wasn't personal insults ( not a fan of ), but just announcing what he was going to do next to beat you or using a bit of wit and humour, what a legend, my second best player of all time. The best SF in history.
Just look at what the Indiana State Sycamores have accomplished before or since Bird. That's a phenomenal example of just how legendary he was, that for some reason is overlooked.
Larry did something every game that made you question if you just saw that. Barry Sanders, Ozzy Smith, Brandon Phillips, Gretzky were the few who could do this.
I lived in Boston until 1993. I had season's tickets to the Celtics from 1980 to 1988. In that time, I saw three Celtic championships. In 1980, I went to the fourth game (I think) of the season. The Celtics were playing the Supersonics, the defending Champions. Bird, of course, was the very highly hyped rookie. Boston was watching - and hoping - that he was as advertised. In minute 2 or 3 of the game, Bird drove to the basket, drawing a couple of defenders. He went up to make a jump shot, and both defenders went up with him. As Bird reached his arc, he threw the ball behind him, and it wound up in the hands of a Celtic player (Don't remember who). As Bird and his defenders went back down, the Celtic calmly went up and made an uncontested jump shot. 40 years later, I still VIVIDLY remember my reaction: I was stunned that Bird had "LOST the ball" trying to make a jump shot. Then it slowly sank in: Bird had drawn the defenders, gone up to shoot, passed the ball behind him to a teammate, allowing the teammate to make an uncontested shot - ON PURPOSE!!!! And I was most fortunate to enjoy Larry legend for 13 glorious years. He was, indeed, the best small forward to ever play in the NBA.
I'm not even, never been a Celtics fan but Bird is is EASILY in my Top 5 All Time and among my 3 favourite Celtics with Kevin McHale & Keith Smart. That 78/79 season at Indiana State and the Final v Michigan State was what got me fascinated with basketball.
Larry Bird was and still is the GOAT to me. He could do anything he wanted and his basketball IQ was off the charts compared to everyone else. The game was played differently back then and it was a tougher type game back then.
Larry Joe Bird gets almost no respect today. Don't believe that? Go to your top five rookies of all time and see how many times Magic is mentioned and how many times Bird is mentioned. Does anyone remember who got rookie of the year that year? Young people get mad at me but i study players. That means more than stats. It means hustle, heart and what your teammates and others have to say about you. No disrespect to K.D. and Lebron but Larry Bird is the best small forward to ever play the game and Elgin Baylor is #2. People today don't realize it but these two guys are timeless
Elgin Baylor game was bananas scoring, rebounding and passing doesn't have the accolades and accomplishments that bird and james have but when it comes to the all around game of basketball he was equally as good if not better!!
@@johnnyscarecrow3363 if we want to be honest you can make a good argument for the greatest player in each era of basketball of being the goat. I've done some studies on some of the best. I was very surprised at how my opinion changed on some of my favorite players and some that jumped from 25/50 all the way to top 10
Best RUclips recommendation ever. Been watching videos of legends complimenting Larry, but they were one by one and never compiled. This has to be the best one yet. The one thing any player since, not named Kobe, will never have is the mindset. Larry has the greatest mind in basketball history. He prob would have even won more than Magic if he had more help and stayed healthy. To me he still is my greatest of all time. Nothing prettier than Larry shooting a rainbow 3, then you watching the ball elegantly spin in the air, saying to yourself why does that ball taking forever to hit the ring. Spin Spin Spin. Then all swish, then next thing is you hearing him trash talking you back the to other side. Best thing ever.
You knew you had earned Larry’s respect when he gave you his best on the court. That 60 point game was as much a nod of respect to Wilkins as it was to get back the franchise scoring record from Kevin.
Get History right. Larry is Mt. Rushmore for Basketball. The other top 25 have nothing to be ashamed of. Larry changed the game. Heart plays the debate role. Larry was an inspiration to all the upcoming greats. God Bless, J
This is the most comprehensive video I have seen on the greatness of Bird. I love the caption, The greatest small forward in the history of the game. That’s what I’ve been saying all along. And for those who might want to argue. I’ve watched the NBA since the mid 70’s.
The game Stockton was talking about?....Bird didn't get 43. What he did accomplish (or COULD have accomplished) is even more impressive. Bird was ONE steal away from earning a QUADRUPLE DOUBLE playing against the Jazz when he took himself out of the game in the 3rd quarter. When KC Jones told Bird about the possible quad-double and asked him if he wanted to go back into the game IN THE 3RD OR 4TH QUARTER? Bird said "Nah...I've already done enough damage to them". - LARRY F'N LEGEND. (He didn't go back in the game). What player today would deny themselves a chance to earn a quadruple-double taking themselves out of a game in THE 3RD QUARTER? NOT ONE. And all the stupid f'n dim kids get off on bragging about today's players' individual padded stats? When they have no idea just how little the greatest players in history cared about them. Larry Bird was ALL about winning. PERIOD.
Well Bird was special and records meant nothing to him or there us no telling how many he would have but lets be honest, most players in any era would have went back in.
I never got to see him play, but from watching clips of him play i think his ability to trick defenders with fakes and no look passes just has something special about it. And thats not what hes most known for as far as i can tell.
Look I come from a place that has the honor of the two most respected birds of all time. Two GOATs. One bird the original did it for like 40+ years. Till 2012 or 2016ish. Woodstock Connecticut. Caroll Spinney And Larry the Legend Bird. Northeast Connecticut best Birds of all time. Thank them both for all that entertainment.
This video is never old , growing up i never watched basket ball , even now i cant watch basket ball , but i love these bird videos idk why but i guess i could understand the times back then
I've watched NBA on film for years since the 70's up to now. To me, Larry Bird is the best, by far, to ever play the game. Jordan, Magic, Jabbar, Lebron are there at the top but Bird is the greatest of them all.
@Fui Gebhardt1 ...Lol...Well...Bird said MJ was the GOAT. So I guess Bird is so vociferously militant with his knee-jerk screeching that you just can't get through to him :-) Seriously though, Bird is a baad man, and stands alone as a 50-40-90 offensive legend. Defensive dominance (or lack thereof) is the reason Larry doesn't usually get serious consideration in objective GOAT conversations. Do you disagree?
@@Nkosinati Bird was never really asked to be a great individual defensive player. The coaches usually put him on a weaker offensive player so he could play team defense. Getting into passing lanes and helping his teammates. He was definitely smart on defense.
I think it's about time bird got respect for what he did they say his team in a 3 years period boston it has never been toped it was like maybe loosing 3

The Most Unique player Ever. Played small forward but averaged more rebounds than Ewing, McHale and Parish. Best shooter of his day but was arguably the best passer as a small forward. Slow and not great at defense but made some of the greatest defensive plays of all time. Tip passes, over the backboard, clutch shots... never knew what he was going to do next
john Carroll Best improvisational Passer shooter ever
2nd team all star is Great' 2 times at least
look who is 33 me lol'
I'm his GreaTesT Fan,
John Carroll he was a good defender. Averaged more steals and same # of blocks as James. Also has more defensive win shares than james. There were so many absolutely great defenders in Birds era that he got over shadowed a little bit. Not great but very good
Imagine if he was selfish and took more shots , he'd be in the 30,000
Point pantheon. But no. He wanted to win.An all time player was also a
team player.
When Jordan was asked how he felt about Bird retiring... MJj said, "Good, maybe I can win a game now". Look it up, he said it.
😂😂. I know...I love it! MJ was 0-6 against Bird!
There will never be another like him.

Never ever ever! I modeled my game after him and it's served me well in life!
There were plenty of players compared with Bird the latest was Dirk Nowitzki a 7'0 ft German version
I enjoyed watching Larry Bird play what an honor it was ,
When Bird was being recruited to Indiana State a scrimmage was set up between Bird, his brother Mark and one of his friends from his high school team VS the current Indiana State team.
And that was after He broke His knuckle on His shooting hand and that Eastern Conference was no joke !
The goat in my book. The second is far.
Splitting hairs here, but it was Michigan State.
Heard he told the head coach at ISU something like “let em take their beating like a man.” Larry was a cobra.
Same
That was Magic, not Dominique.
@@fridaylong2812 ACTUALLY DOMINIQUE AGREED WITH MAGIC!!!!!!!!! & STATED THIS FACT MULTIPLE TIMES..........
Magic said that!!!
Lol. A lot of 80s players said it.
Brahahaha you and the Hawks bench!! Where amazed!!
I loved it.
So good had to cast it to my big screen. Larry Bird is the best forward in the history of the NBA.
Next to Jordan, Larry Bird is my all time favorite player. A true basketball legend.
They're asking all these NBA great legends actually I think some of the best ever and they're giving props to Larry Bird I love it. ❤️ Mad respect for all these players.
Plus, you gotta respect the opinion of *real* players who've lived the game a wee bit more than, well, anyone else.
"If I had to choose a player to take a shot to save a game I'd choose Michael Jordan; If I had to choose a player to take a shot to save my life...I'd take Larry Bird." - Pat Riley
True
I disagree, but just partly. Because it’s a 2 part answer. It depends on the situation. If I can get a play where Larry can come of a clean screen and he can set his feet. I go with Larry. Now if we are facing a top notch defensive team with athleticism, I draw a play where MJ can create a shot.
2023 in his old age I'd still pick bird
I don't think we will ever see anyone like him again. With what God give him he made the most of it. He wasn't the fastest, quickest or tallest, just the smartest basketball IQ ever who played the game! Thank you Larry I will always treasure you! Though I never personally met you.
Larry Bird is a basketball phenomenon
@@ORagnar
I agree.
@@gregp3818
That's absolutely right. His athleticism was all hustle. For some, it's natural. For Bird it was effort and commitment to excellence.
We share a birthday and I played girls bb with the #'s 32/33!

Clearly the best ever.... And brought the NBA back to stardom it wouldn't be the same without him
My first NBA game was in Seattle Washington.
#regrets.
Larry is by far the Greatest player that also won coach of the year and executive of the year.
I love the look on the young guys faces when I tell them I’d take Bird over LeBron day in and day out.
Bird not even in the top 10, Bird garbage next to Lebron
ACR ask yourself how Jordan did against bird. Jordan the goat.
Dennis Baca Jordan dropped 63 on him
ACR one time, you should see what Jordan says about him.
ACR Bird has more rings, fact.
The way you cant touch players now and the way the game has opened up allowing guys to shoot 3s like crazy. He would tear up the league now and in era he is transient player. Players like that can play in any era
Larry, Jordan, Kareem, Shaq no doubt these and many more would dominate in the cupcake league
Larry Legend was def one of the greatest baller ever. Top 5 in my opinion.
Loved the game back when Larry, Magic, Dominique, Doc and all the rest played...! Best basketball EVER...!
He did. But Zeke was lying through his teeth. He wasn't joking at the time he said it. Zeke has had a long history of struggling with the truth.
I watched that game it was life changing for me as a sports fan
Yes baby, we are the Boston celtics, fundamental basketball, like say in the bean
Reggie Miller!!!
Larry Joe Bird Still The Greatest Small Forward in The Association! Sorry LeBron James!
Clifton Brown Lebron has never been a Small Forward he is a combo of point and shooting guard but I do agree with your comment
Karina Andreson Ole yeah that was funny working on it.

It might be a team game, but Bird played like it was personal. You make 3 big jumpers, he makes 4. Amazing.
He is the true G.O.A.T , common not many can call them self a member of the 50,40,90 club. Rest my case
A 2 TIME MEMBER of the 50/40/90 club. And it's founder!

LARRY BIRD was the greatest player of the 80s without question
The real legend!!!! Mr Larry Bird, the GOAT!!!

The fake draft footage is kinda dumb though. Shaking Silver’s hand etc.
"Thanks for the beers last night."
Greatest clutch player ever!!! He had the eye of the tiger!!!
Larry Legend = GOAT

Larry Bird was and still is the GOAT to me. He could do anything he wanted and his basketball IQ was off the charts compared to everyone else. The game was played differently back then and it was a tougher type game back then.
Awesome. The NBA will never be the same!!!

Larry Bird was taken for granted
You never see Larry bragging on himself....others do it...but not Bird
Hahaha except on the floor, to other players...
Same with Jordan. Unlike todays blowhards like LeBum, these guys let their peers speak for their greatness
Bird bragged plenty on himself on and off the court. He aint the king of trash talk for nothing.
Did u even watch this doc??????????????
When Bird played he was the biggest and best trash talker on the court..but backed it up..others bragged about what Bird did
possibly the best RUclips vid I have ever seen
You knew you had earned Larry’s respect when he gave you his best on the court. That 60 point game was as much a nod of respect to Wilkins as it was to get back the franchise scoring record from Kevin.
Exactly. He'd never have thought to play most of that game left handed just to add a challenge. The challenge was there.
He didn’t have the longevity of greatness because of injuries but in his prime he won 3 mvps in a row. I’d say that’s pretty good.
Legend.
Max respect, Larry Byrd.
I never got to see him play, but from watching clips of him play i think his ability to trick defenders with fakes and no look passes just has something special about it. And thats not what hes most known for as far as i can tell.

I Believe that also that thee best all round player in thegames legendary HISTORY.
🙄🙄🙄
