    This amp is perfect! It has all of the features and connectivity you'll ever need for 2 channel setups. I just don't like the faceplate at all. It looks busy. Give me a flat faceplate like NAD or Yamaha. I also don't care for the porthole screen. You can display more info on a long ribbon screen.

    Yes! It has a low pass filter (for the subwoofer) but it is not clear if that amplifier also has a high pass filter for the main speakers? For example, with a a low pass filter set at 80 hertz (for the sub) are the main speakers receiving only a signal of 80 hertz and above? There are workarounds for room ready although at an extra cost (i.e., Wiim pro plus).

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  10 месяцев назад +1

      We circled back to Marantz technical on this and you are right. The signal going out to the mains has no high pass filter, it is full range.

    • @Capitan_Cavernicola_1
      @Capitan_Cavernicola_1 10 месяцев назад

      @@AudioAdvicethanks. What does it mean in practical terms when the video says that the two subs input run in parallel and not discreet? Should the subs connect to the low level input or LFE input from the marantz? I own a Rel sub.

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  10 месяцев назад +1

      @@Capitan_Cavernicola_1 Some receivers have two subwoofer outputs that give you individual control of each one. In this case, both output jacks get the same signal. Most of the REL subs let you connect it using speaker cable which would be the preferred method for two channel especially.

      @@AudioAdvice, Hello and thank you for this information, it's greatly appreciated by the way.
      I am thinking about pairing the Stereo 70s with a set of loudspeakers (Dali Oberon 7, 88.5db, 6 ohms) and I am also thinking to add a subwoofer in order to "help" the mains and redirect the lows to the sub so that the highs and mids get more room in the mains.
      Would this work and should I see an improvement in the overall sound? Important note: I am not interested in improving bass but the overall quality and performance.

    A few questions. How does the Stereo 70s compare with the Cinema 60? I can't decide between the two of them. I plan to the Stereo 70s or Cinema 60 in a 2.0 setup with Dali Oberon 7 (88.5, 6 ohms). Also considering to add a sub later.
    1. Which one should offer the better audio experience when streaming via Tidal Connect? The Cinema 60 has a bit more power but it's architecture is designed for multi channel.
    2. Given the differences in Dolby Atmos support, will there by a significant difference when watching movies?
    Hard to decide.

    Confusing as to why they wouldn’t make the 2 subwoofers in a discreet format for this price. Anyone who is running two subs is a little above a novice and will cause them to pass this unit by where they would have probably bought it.

      I disagree. I have 2 subs in stereo myself, and would never look at something of this level anyway. Unless it was for a gift maybe. This is a $1k do it all. It’s a receiver. It’s not high end at all.
      There’s two types of people who have more than one sub IME. And it’s 2 channel guys like myself that are really into it, or it’s bass heads/home theater guys that aren’t really into SQ like myself.
      And I seriously doubt they’re going to care as this is how almost every type of product in this price/performance category does the sub control. And stereo vs mono subs isn’t a huge difference in SQ anyway.
      This isn’t designed, priced, nor marketed for high end 2 channel guys. It’s designed for the type of listener that was described in this video, and I doubt most will even care.

    • @Dasbeerboots

      @@amb3cog This is where you're wrong. There's a nearly 200-page thread on AudioScienceReview discussing stereo amplifiers with active and adjustable bass management, for $1000 or under. I was so excited to see this video pop up, because I thought I had finally found the perfect product that fits those requirements. Unfortunately, the amplifier has neither discrete subwoofer outputs nor active bass management. It doesn't even have a crossover or high pass filter. Massive miss for Marantz. They could have cornered the market with just those two features. The Cinema 70S has a crossover and three more channels, along with a host of other features that are missing from this device, for only $200 more. And it can be had for $750 already, factory refurbished. There's no reason to get this amplifier over the Cinema 70S, in my opinion. People that want a two-channel setup will likely want an active crossover, and a good chunk of them will also want discrete subwoofer outputs. I have two subs in my living room, two subs at my desk, and wanted to add a second sub to the bedroom setup. This would have been perfect, but guess I'll have to wait until they improve.

      I'm trying to figure out how this is better than the Cinema 70S, which can be had for $250 less. It really feels like the 2-channel tax.
      Edit: The more I look at it, the worse it gets. It doesn't have discrete subwoofer outputs and doesn't even have an active crossover. The Cinema 70S has an active crossover, but sadly not independent sub outs. Why would they not include these features? Massive miss.

    • @AudioAdvice

      The Marantz Cinema 70s is $1,200 and the Stereo is cheaper at $1,000. So you will save $200 with the stereo version. We do wish it had independent sub outs.

      @@AudioAdvice The Cinema 70S is available on Accessories4Less for $750 with a 5 year warranty.
