Bought my RS about 6 months ago as an entry to getting back in to biking after a 20 year break (long story), and just like you I cannot help but smile and laugh when I ride it. Great video!
@@mickred04 Loving it! Plenty of power for the road, great induction noise (exhaust is a little quiet) and just sublime handling. Using Commute mode in town makes things softer when you need it, but a quick press of a button and she comes to life. Plus I catch myself just staring at the bike. So damned good looking!
Great video! Have the same bike for 2 years now and I still love it. Such a beautiful bike! On the track and the german Autobahn it could have a bit more hp tho. ✌
Definitely make a video for us after adding the carbon fibre parts and powder coating the alloys black. I think you are going in the right direction making the bike more black.
Nice whip! I actually like the sound of the exhaust! I hate when smaller CC bikes try to sound like litter bikes! All this bike is going to do is make you want the RSV4 Factory!😆
Great looking bike! I know that Acid Gold can be a polarizing color, but personally, I really like it. It was my first choice while shopping for a Tuono 660 until I saw Concept Black in person. The name Concept Black doesn't tell the whole story as it has quite a bit of red/orange accents...including the seat.
I have to say I hate I only knew about the “top 3”. Just got taken out by a deer in NJ 😂😭. Not entirely scared off but now I need to save up for a bike. Seeing all these bikes however only make me realize I need to save up asap 😂😂. Not sure if I wanna go the dealership route however. Idk. I’m torn now 😂
I actually want want one. Currently on a decently built out monster s2r 1000. So I will be losing power/torque and the rawness. But this bike seems so comfortable at what it does
My RC8 is raw and torquey with 90 ft lbs of torque. Going to the RS 660 doesn’t bother me as it’s such a fun bike. Yeah it doesn’t have the kick you in the face punch but it still gets up and moves.
did you get the ECU mapped after changing the filter and exhaust? Apparently these bikes run super lean, the stock map won't make up for any extra free flowing air and leans out the bike even more, dangerously so. If you change exhaust or even air filter the suggestion is to get it tuned to a less lean fuel map.
Nope haven’t gotten it tuned yet. You don’t need one with a drop in air filter. Also the exhaust is still pretty much stock. Still has the cat and on the Motobox website it says no remap required.
@@itsmeericb Hmm not sure I'd trust either statement - if you look on Aprilia forums veteran tuners are saying how dangerously lean these things are running with any slight derestriction to air flow. I certainly wouldn't be taking a chance on it without checking it's parameters on a dyno to validate, and at that point you might as well just have a tune stuck on it for similar amount of money. FWIW I also have one, and I would also replace the air filter, but I'm holding off to do everything at once for this reason.
Hmm well I have changed the air filter on all of my bikes with only having one tuned and never had an issue. Never heard of needing a tune after changing a filter on both cars or bikes. It's always the exhaust that "requires" to be tuned. You should definitely do what you feel is safe for your bike. @@jamestrotter7852
@@itsmeericb That is usually true, but due to the euro 5 compliance the bike runs very lean stock already, and doesn't do well at injecting more fuel when the airflow is less restricted - usually a function from the ECU reading the O2 sensor on the exhaust can change the fueling enough, but this doesn't happen on the RS. This isn't a normal problem, it is an issue specific to this bike.
Hey, bro, I found your channel a couple of years ago. Are you still in Louisiana? I remember you had said you moved there a while back. I'm in Louisiana and AFAIK there aren't any Aprilia dealerships here, correct? I know you typically buy used bikes, but I'm looking to buy a new RS660 so I can have a warranty. Have you had any issues with it thus far? I was looking at an RS660 or an R7 and I think I'm SOL with the Aprilia unless you know of an Aprilia dealer?
Yo! I moved away from Louisiana a couple of years ago. I couldn’t tell you where an Aprilia dealer would be there. I would be the closest one would be in Texas in either Houston or Dallas. I never had any issues with my 2022 660, but I’d take an RS660 over an R7. I think the R7 might make for a good track bike but everyday use the 660 is a better bike for the money.
I haven’t taken it on a long ride yet. I did do a full day at the Tail of the Dragon on my R6 and I was fine until the end of the day. I would be able to do the same on the bike but not be as sore. lol
I haven’t had the chance to ride an R7 yet! I am trying to see if I can get one to ride so I can compare the two. The 660 in my opinion is a feature packed bike with decent power. The R7 is a good budget bike that has good looks and can perform on the track.
Love the changes but i have questions on the mirrors. What's the view like out of the mirrors and do they vibrate over 6k revs like the stock ones do? I'm in the UK so I don't have issues with the indicators.
They do not vibrate as they are very stiff compared to the stock mirrors. The view is smaller but you can see out of them. You just have to move your hand to get a glimpse. People complain because you can’t see that good out of them. It’s better than nothing and I do feel there has to be some sacrifices somewhere in the design.
I know people are into these quickshifters, but not me. I enjoy shifting with my foot and using the clutch the way it always used to be. The quickshifter sounds like an automatic... It reminds me too much of an automatic car with a manual mode. They can be fun, but using a clutch and the shifter is a lot more fun.
Yeah I feel ya! My RC8 only has a quickshifter for up shifting which is truly a lot faster than using the clutch in a race situation. I do like to manually downshift though. As for my RS660, having the auto blipped while shifting down is handy when you have to downshift and brake at the same time coming in hot into a corner.
@itsmeericb7406 In the Quickshifters defense... I forgot to mention that I never rode a motorcycle with one. I've only seen videos. I'm sure I'd still prefer to shift it manually, but I may actually like the quickshifter? I do like that you can still shift 100% manually with a quickshifter if you want. This way you can do it whichever way you're in the mood for. Thanks for the quick reply by the way! I'll subscribe after this comment, if I'm not subscribed already? Keep up the good work, and thanks again man, 👍 -Chris
Great review. I would only say that I disagree with the not a whole lotta power comment. It doesn’t have a whole lotta useless power is how I would frame it myself. Kinda like buying a house and using most of the house, as opposed to buying a mansion and only living in one of the bedrooms 😂 What a waste of money we have been guilty of for many years with these traditional supersports!

I guess the yellow or Acid gold is hard to find. When I was originally looking I was set on that color.
