This video made me completely understand what the wi-fi repeater thingy does. The Ring & Nest were EASY to hook up! Thanks tons for the help with the Ring. Didn't even need to watch another help video after yours!
Thanks so much for that! I try to add as much detail as I can for all upcoming videos I'm making. I'm thinking about buying the ring home alarm system.
“How do we reset our old ring spotlight cam to use the newly installed extender's wifi signal instead of the weak signal from previous original router's wifi?” Would the camera need to be reset somehow, like right from the ring app in order to pick up the newly installed extender's wifi signal? Is the new boosted signals set up basically the same for any brand wifi extender? I'd think any brand extender would work to give the distant camera enough wifi. Thank you
Just saw your video clip, thanks. I couldn’t pay attention to your explanation of this Wi-Fi extender got distracted by your dirty walls & light switches.😳
This was very straight forward when I had an Iphone. I then changed to an Android then change wifi provider. i Managed to change the Wifi setting, however i cannot connect to the Chimer. i did not realised there is a problem with Android phones. Do you know of a remedyJeff?
Bought a house in the spring and just starting to install Ring products. First purchase was the Ring video doorbell pro which comes with a chime. Note: I’m currently in the “prime and paint phase” and you definitely could use a sanding/priming/painting of that wall brother, that paint is like mine, chunky! 😜
Is it a must to hook the bypass power kit if you buy doorbell pro along with wireless chime/chime pro? What if I want to hear the doorbell only on the wireless chime/chime pro but not the existing mechanical doorbell? Can I just use the doorbell pro and the wireless chime/pro to communicate which means I am NOT hooking the bypass kit to the existing mechanical doorbell.
If you don't want to use the mechanical doorbell I have seen people disconnect that and just power the doorbell pro itself and worked fine on its own and with the ring chime.
Jeff, I just ordered three of these for the house. I have a ring doorbell 3, and one camera on the back porch and one camera down by the garage. the one by the garage gets poor internet coverage. my xfinity modem is in the living room. do i plug my extenders close to where the cameras are? Do i plug them inside the house? I could put one in the garage. please let me know. thanks
Yes that's correct you want to place them more towards the device you want the camera to connect to. My friend put a ring extender in his garage and he has his camera well over 100' on a post on his property.
Does this really help because I bought all this stuff but my Internet strength out in the mountains is not good enough to work my cameras is this worth the money
i do not have a ring door bell looking at rig chime pro wifi extender to extend wifi to my camera have a week single and i can plug wifi extender in the gurage will this work for the setup that i dont have ring door bell thank you
Hello hi Happy Holidays to you and your family pray all is well. Question were can we find the Wi-Fi pro chime we believe it's certain that we need one ASAP
I set my Ring chime pro up after I installed the Ring doorbell. Everything is hooked up and on my wi-fi network, but I have no way of telling if the extender is working? I still have slow live on the Ring doorbell!
Jeff my problem is this my chime is not notifing me when people are approaching front door before doorbell is being rung it only chimes when doorbell is in use
Carol Hall You could do that. Some of the other extenders you can buy are very powerful. I only bought the ring chime pro because I have the ring chime doorbell I have yet to install. My friend has a wifi booster in his garage he can use his internet down the street.
Does the ring chime pro have to be between the device and the router. My tenants pulled out the device from inside the house for the doorbell so I’d like to put the chime-pro in the garage; however it’s not ‘between’ the doorbell and the router.
mverbosky You don't necessarily have to have it between the router and the door bell. The nice thing about the ring chime pro is that you can literally plug it in the wall where you want to try it and do the set up process there. If the ring chime pro cannot connect to your router or if the signal is too weak you just simply move the chime pro to another location.
@@JeffLepard doesn't that defeat the purpose of the pro? might as well go without the pro. isn't that what the extender is for.....if moving it closer to the main door. And i may be totally wrong let me know please
@@brandynbenedictine In my case I'm using the wifi extender to reach my garage so I needed it as close as possible to the front door. Otherwise I could install the extender or ring chime anywhere really.
Hi Jeff..when someone is at my door and I later try to review the video, is says low WiFi signal. Would I be better off with a newer router, mine is old, or use this extender? Thanking you in advance if you are able to reply
Its hard to say really but I someone I know has their floodlight cam on a light pole in the country and the WiFi extender is in their garage. It is about 120 feet away and works perfectly. It would all depend what is in the way and disrupting the signal.
I will be installing two Ring Floodlight Cams on my garage. Do I need to install two Chime Pros? Or will one Chime Pro take care of both Floodlight Cams? A Chime Pro was included with each Floodlight Cam so I have two of them.
I would test both ways out. See how fast your connection is with 1 of the chime pros and with both. Let me know what you find or what you end up doing. I'm interested to know.
I installed the first Chime Pro but had trouble installing the second one. I have a weak connection at times on one of the cams but works for the most part. I’ll try installing the second chime again when I get a chance. I get frustrated with anything technical! 😁
Jeff...THANKS for the video. I installed a Ring Doorbell a couple weeks ago and put a Chime Pro downstairs not far from the Doorbell because the WiFi would not reach the doorbell. It works great. I have purchased and installed a Ring Stick Up on my garage which is about 30 feet from where I have the Chime Pro. The connection was intermittent at best when I tried to set up the Stick Up. My question is can I daisy chain the Chime Pros? Can I put another Chime Pro between the Chime Pro I have and the Stick Up to extend the WiFi to the Stick up or do they not work like that? THANKS in advance for your response.
I know you can use 2 chime pros but I'm not sure if they actually work off of each other. They might have their own connection to the router. I wonder if that would be a good question to ask Ring Support. I would like to know that answer as well.
I installed the floodlight cam before the extender only because I wasn't sure if I needed it or not. After the floodlight would not connect to the internet I had to buy the ring chime pro WiFi extender.
i have already 2 flood lights installed with motion sensors outside can i purchase just their flood lights and attach it to the already sensors i have? and install the chime pro? do you think it would work? thank you
Are the motion sensors a separate unit or part of the floodlights that you have now? I believe most of rings lights come with motion sensing in the units. I will look into that though.
Ray Entertainment It may but I'm not too sure about that. Mine didn't work at all unless I was using it off of the wifi extender. It's possible it's not sending full signal which could be less quality.
Researching to see if I should get a Netgear WiFi extender, already have s chime but not the pro ... Anybody used a regular extender and got an improved RSSI score and therefore better video quality and less lag?
That would work as well I have heard people talk about that as well extending your WiFi with another extender. I'm interested to know if that makes a difference or not.
Get the netgear extender because it will allow you to connect any wifi device. The chime pro will only allow ring products to connect. I have both a tp link brand extender that I use for my ring stick up cam located on top of my garage and I also have this chime pro for my ring door bell. For some reason I cannot connect the stick up cam to the chime pro it will only connect to my doorbell. This is why I got a regular extender for the stick up cam and it works along with any other wifi enabled device.
@@air23evil I wonder if it'll help me now though as one phone and my MacBook get notifications but my phone doesn't, so I don't think / know that is a WiFi issue?
I have two chime pros but it looks like each one is connected to my floodlight cam individually instead of daisy chaining to the one cam for a better signal
Do you have the ring doorbell pro or just the ring doorbell? I know if you get the ring chime or ring chime pro it will ring anytime someone presses the ring button. You can also replace your old doorbell if you want that to ring as well.
If all you want is a audio response you can save few bucks and just buy the ring chime. You can set sound and which one you want for motion/press button
KingLord Excuse my remedial level of understanding. I installed the ring video doorbell 2. Of course each time a person presses the ring doorbell, I am notified via smart phone. The same occurs with movement. However, my interior doorbell chime no longer rings. I bought the ring Chime pro, because if figured in addition to the extender, it would replace the “dinnnng dooooonngg” that alerts us the old fashioned way. Am I correct? Or misunderstood the purpose of the ring chime pro??
Only difference between chime & chime pro is existenting you wifi so paying the extra isn't lost but it only will work with ring devices. Now yes you can set both motion & doorbell alert sounds for the chime in the ring app many sounds to pick from and you can daisy chain chime devices around your house. I'm sure videos on here showing how to do it
+Imhotep397 i believe you can if i was going that far out i probably would buy an excellent wifi extender with super strong range and connect that straight or connect your ring chime to that. Thanks for watching my videos i appreciate the support!
I just added a Ring Chime/Pro to extend range for my front door Ring2 doorbell, but no matter what I do can't get my doorbell system to setup via my wifi. I have excellent high-speed internet, know all of my password (account) information correctly but always each time it indicates failed to setup??? What should be simple is quickly becoming very much a pain in the rear. If this continues I will box both items up and return to Best Buy. Any suggestions would be welcomed!!!
I did have a problem with that before and it turned out my doorbell was faulty. I contacted ring support and I exchanged the doorbell and then it worked perfectly. I wonder if that's the same problem you are having or not. I would give ring support a quick call and go through it with them and see what they say.

Neeraj Vasudeva you can use other wifi extenders the only reason why I'm using the ring chime pro wifi extender is because I'm going to be installing a ring chime pro doorbell. My friend has a floodlight camera hooked up using a different wifi extender and it works perfect as well.
Hey man you may want to update your amazon link the one you have is discontinued and they have a new model. I was going to use your link but it’s no longer available.
I would like to hear how loud it was or can I plug it in my back porch when out back or if it works good or not. Plus how far away does it work? You gotta do a part 2 to let us know. I'll subscribe and wait.
motormannjay I will be shooting the next video on the ring doorbell pro. Asong as the doorbell can communicate with the wifi extender it will work. It should work almost anywhere in the house. I will test that part out when I hook mine up. There's going to be 3 installations to that video. The wiring of the ring doorbell, the wiring of the existing doorbell unit and the transformer installation for more voltage. Thanks for subscribing and I will try to get that video out ASAP!
They say in the video to already setup ring doorbell you are supposed to pick connect option to switch network but one isn't offered. The chime part will setup but not the network. Got to press the setup bottone on the devices, pain now got to remove cover on 2 and off wall for 1. 😡 FYI this only works for ring devices so for other wifi you need another third party Extender
Does it? Yeah I guess it makes sense that it could because of the unit weight. I wonder if changing the outlet to a new outlet would make any difference?
Jeff Lepard cool thank you. I need to get one too. My ring lights do work. But it keeps saying I have Wi-Fi interference. So I wonder if that would stop the issue?
I had better signal without this unit. When using this extender my signal at my floodlight cam was very poor (RSSI -94). I then connected directly to my WiFi bypassing the extender and have great signal (RSSI -51). If this extender had not been bundled with my doorbell I would return it. It is nothing more than a secondary doorbell chime for me.
Has anyone measured the improvement over not having the extender? I had a health score of 56 without the chime at all and a 56 with the chime. Then moved it all over, and every single time, the health is still 56. Completely useless. No improvement. What is the RSSI # before and after using this device for someone that had it work. I don't know anyone that actually had it work yet.
I have heard from different people that it works and also different stories from others. I know for myself my floodlight cam would not work at all without the extender. I didn't get too technical into it but the live feed and video is fine I have never had any issues. My Floodlight cam is about 40-50' away from the Wi Fi Extender.
@@brandynbenedictine It's all depending on how far your floodlight is from your router. I just installed one last week and the floodlight was able to reach the router easily so there was no need for the wifi extender.
Jeff Lepard hi Jeff thanks for your reply, i managed to fix it, it randomly lost connection at 4am. Second time I pushed the button on top of cam it connected probably just a fluke.
I'm currently stuck where it tells me Chime pro is connected to wifi but it will "not connect to the Internet" after multiple tries, resets and locations.
Jeff Lepard It turns out that the ring chime pro was defective. The ring operator escalated it and they decided to send me a new one. I got it in UPS the next day and had it up and fully running in three minutes! I had purchased it at Best Buy and it was bundled with my doorbell Interestingly the Mac ID on the original chime pro did not exist in their system, strange.
Wow I wonder what happened with that Mac ID. That's great that they sent you another one right away. At least their customer support is on point with that. That's very important! How are you liking it so far?
Garbage. Will die out after a couple of years. I literally just unplugged it to add another ring camera and it did not work any more. Ring will not replace. It’s almost as ring knows the warranty is out.

There are different chimes that you can select. I'm going to be filming a video on the review and use of it shortly.
Great informative video.
So you need wifi for Ring camera?
You need wifi to view any of the cameras yes.
Interesting content would like to check this product out. Thanks for sharing Jeff💌

Thanks for the info on that I appreciate it! I'm going to be doing another review on the ring products and update the videos.
I JUST PAY FOR THIS UNIT I HAVE THE LIGHT OUTSIDE CAN YOU HELP ME FIX THIS UP ????
Good vid
Thanks so much! More RIng Videos to come!
i need this for my indoor cam
Wobbles around a lot in US style outlets.
Does it? Yeah I guess it makes sense that it could because of the unit weight. I wonder if changing the outlet to a new outlet would make any difference?
The best 😘
Thanks Mildret! I might be coming to Cancun in October!
Does it really work?
J.B.M J.B.M Yup it does, my floodlight Cam won't work without it.
Jeff Lepard cool thank you. I need to get one too. My ring lights do work. But it keeps saying I have Wi-Fi interference. So I wonder if that would stop the issue?
J.B.M J.B.M that should for sure help it out. Only thing I had to do was to move it around and test it for the best reception.
@@JeffLepard wow im planning on getting the flood lights and such so better get the chime pro, right?
@@brandynbenedictine It's all depending on how far your floodlight is from your router. I just installed one last week and the floodlight was able to reach the router easily so there was no need for the wifi extender.
This is what I've been trying to find out before I buy this...
Hello Jeff earlier today I accidentally sign out my ring account and my backyard camera is not lighting up and all the cables are install
You might have to disconnect the power on the camera wait a few minutes and reconnect and go through the set up process again with it if need be.
Thank you for writing to me back but I already resolved the issue with my ring.
@@Polo301 That's good news! I'm trying to catch up on my comments I was in Cuba for 2 weeks. 😉
Sup boys
👍👍
Im trying to connect this to my ring cam but its not even connecting to it i have it right next to it. Really fustrating
I wonder what it could be. Faulty Chime Pro? I would try calling customer service and check with them.
If its not your router than I would give Ring Support a call and see if they can help out.
How are you liking it so far?
sending support from chef arabo
Mine stopped working less than a year smh
Hi jeff
Password from router???
Name Daves
What was the point of doing this video you did not tell us if it improved the WF-FI range!!
I will be doing a follow up video on this shortly! It absolutely improved my wifi range. My floodlight cam won't even work without this.
@@JeffLepard Somehow, you don't come across as telling us the whole truth.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS
Garbage. Will die out after a couple of years. I literally just unplugged it to add another ring camera and it did not work any more. Ring will not replace. It’s almost as ring knows the warranty is out.
