My first build that was offical years ago in late alpha, wooden cabin that had a bed and a chest, then made a fireplace... Didn't know how firespread worked... My cabin was gone...
Tip: for the floor, it’s good to have a colour that works well with the walls and fits the colour scheme such as analogous colours, complementary colours. Another thing you can do to add lighting to your chairs and tables as they include blocks such as slabs and stairs which are transparent blocks

I love building with wood and have experimented with it tremendously. My favorite thing to do is has spruce plank floors, oak plank walls, then birch slab ceilings. The dark to light change is awesome. Also with you lining the ceiling edges with slabs. Try using a different wood/ material and use upside down stairs. It makes the ceiling look even taller. Great video and thanks for the tips!
Grian, I respect your eye for a really open style, but the problem is that you have so much more space you can use and you don't use it. Instead of trying to cram all the most helpful features on the ground floor or overhangs and such, you should try building more rooms and ceilings to add more usable space and still preserve the same open kind of feel to the build.
For example, in the second build, there were so many instances were a simple second floor would have made the build more practical and still have it feel open.
Also, the interior doesn't match up with the suburban house he made, same with the rustic one. The interior for both builds looks a bit modern with all the open space.
TheGoldenTopHat I got extremely lucky with this one build. Ended up with four floors, three bedrooms and bathrooms. Looks legitimately livable. The exterior is of Zane's house from MyStreet season 1.

Thank you! this video gave me some really good building inspiration, I'm not a bad builder but this really just helped me understand what I've been doing the right way and the wrong way. my builds are usually too horizontal because for some reason I've always limited myself to just building on the same 1 or 2 levels and they either too simple or i try to fit way too much stuff into a small space.
Yeah... That's why I always build with the interior or at least the purpose of the build in mind. I mean... The best thing about the big one is that it looks like it has a lot going on inside. A lot of little rooms, corridors... The house has a lot of different extentions which kind of signify that it was an architectural madness to design. The clean, wide-open mansion-like interior sort of ruins this feel. Especially because it doesn't match the style if the house. By the way, in both houses, the fireplace is SO OUT OF PLACE! If I ever wanted to make a fireplace, I would choose a correct spot for the chimney and think about a free wall for it while planning the exterior instad of blocking a window 've made earlier. Or build it on an interior wall. My point is: *Interior walls are just as important as the exterior ones* (if you want your build to make sense, of course). And some interior things, like windows and fireplaces, are determined by the exterior, so you got to be very careful when you think about the layout. In my opinion, it's the most fun part of building anything. I just.. I don't know, I'm not really into these kind of extemporaneous builds.
Hey man, great video as always. I have one question. Could you possibly do some kind of a super advanced building tutorial for us who already know most of the basic stuff? Thanks!
He means he wants Grian to make a more advanced video not really explaining so much basic stuff that some people already know. (Or at least that’s how I saw it)

The second house was really nice enjoyed it use shaders on in and maybe add lanterns on bookshelves and carpet it'll look stunning Brian and you're an expert
Helen Wheels Quartz wasn't that great either. It was a step in the right direction, but concrete really takes the cake. Now for concrete slabs and stairs. Please.
Kelly Barker actually in my minecraft there isn’t concrete dont know why maybe bcoz its cracked version..actually in my words i think hardened clay block is better than concrete because it is more powerful and easy to make
Grian, your build school videos have been really helpful science when I originally started Minecraft I was a terrible builder and could only really build in cubes. Thanks for these videos.
The second build made me whisper Oh man, and Grab my head, you left the ceiling too empty in the hall way, the stairs on the ceiling made it a bit too open, I understand you were working on a big area. In my opinion you need to Grab all the area thats there and make some rooms but also keep in mind not to make it to crowded with them but your furniture skills are on point Dudee. It's just my opinion and I am not trying to be rude.
A problem i have with making big builds is i end up sitting there wondering "how am i gonna make this space inside look good??" You have showed the way of filling in space, thank you
For those of you who actually want to take notes on the tips, I made some! Here ya go: (Call me a nerd, I don't care; what I do care about is other's feelings, including yours and Grian's.) -The key to interior is visualizing how you’re gonna use the space. -It is better to make the exterior first, then see what you’ve got to work with. -You’ve got to try to replicate the exterior to the interior, and vice versa. -Running a half or full block around the skirting of your roof often helps tie it in together and makes it seem less square. -Visualize how to use your space than block per block; every house is unique. -Once you are done with the platforms, if any, you can start with the furniture. -If you have limited space, try to find the nooks and crannies to make extra rooms or place furniture in. -If you have a blank wall, make a shelf, perhaps add a chest/other useful blocks, paintings, stairs for depth, etc. -Carpets are great for covering empty floor space. You can also try detailing with staircases. -Clean up any gaps from the exterior. -Highlights and Framing-Much like the exterior, try to frame and highlight parts of the interior. You can choose to either chop off a part or highlight it; it depends on how weird the shape is. -Separating Rooms-Highlight an area for a room’s frame. Since the interior walls are like the exterior walls, you should aim to make them 1 block thick. Any more than that, and you’ll have trouble working with that space. -A staircase in a large house is one of the dominant features of the house, particularly when you walk in. Bear this in mind, especially if you’re working with a larger house. It goes with all styles. -On the upstairs, make a platform for the other rooms to go. -The more you add, the more framing is needed. -A fireplace is a great thing to add to any house. It makes for a wonderful centerpiece to work around. -Place your carpets over Glowstone for some easy lighting, then maybe add stairs around it for some highlights. -If your roof is rather high or you’re working with open space, try hanging lights from the roof down. This will help to achieve a cozier look while dragging your eyes down to the main furniture/highlights of your room. -You have to try to utilize as much space as possible when it comes to furniture, but not so much that it looks odd. Try to make your furniture complement the room; this will help tie everything together. -Make your lighting look nice; natural light and windows can help. -Do everything in order; first clean it up, perhaps add some platforms, highlight the rooms, and THEN add the furniture. Hope I helped cover the main points! :D
thanks, now i learned two things first:i learned how to make a nice furniture without downloading mods second:i learned how to make a best interior thanks again you are from my best youtubers

Theo Friesen do you want me to help you get this comment to the top?
Theo Friesen Do you mean the small house because what I considered the modern house was the big one?
just put a elevator or microwave there instead
Theo Friesen ah good point. A fireplace fits well but maybe not made of cobblestone. I wonder what Quartz or something smooth would've looked like.
yeah he should've used the polished blocks I know he doesn't like the grid but my fire place and extension yours is a marble like stone that is black, gray or white and it has a tile design on it
19:39 I'm not legitimate expert, that house is AMAZING
Grian does build school but mumbo doesn't do redstone school
New update: Ok. 60 likes i don't expect this sooner it will be bigger
Khan 92983832 he has a Redstone tutorial on how everything works and he even gives you assignments to do
Thanks so much Grian! Interior/decor has always been the hardest for me. Now I have more ideas and I’m not sticking to the same old stuff
The second house was really nice enjoyed it use shaders on in and maybe add lanterns on bookshelves and carpet it'll look stunning Brian and you're an expert
Who is this "Brian" character? I have only heard of Grian.
Oh i thought that you will teach us how to build a school
same lmao
IMeow LikeADog:Mee Too
Hahahahaha
IMeow LikeADog same i was excited but since i had nothing better to do i watched it anyway
Me too😂😂
"This kitchen is all aesthetic, none of this does anything"
Hey bruh, is this a furnace in your kitchen?
Nah, purely aesthetic, doesn't do anything
Aww look how adorable those houses are!!! And their little mustaches!!!! Awwwwww!
Grian: “none of this is useful”
Furnace: “Am I a joke to you?”
Hey Grian,
I've got a challenge for you,
Build an epic house with using square blocks only
Please like so he will see this comment
Joris spanjer you mean the house is only square?
YES
Hetalia Trash :3 only square blocks. So he could make it round, but he needs to use square blocks only
Joris spanjer but most blocks are square.........
Hetalia Trash :3 i know, but as you may notice he uses a lot of stairs and slabs for detail
I'm so happy that we got concrete in minecraft! The snow was just HORRIBLE
He isn't very experienced in interior, and he never really focuses on it. This video was just for ideas and just tips to how to work with an interior.
Don't be crude anyway, no one likes a crude rude dude.

MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!
For those of you who actually want to take notes on the tips, I made some! Here ya go:
(Call me a nerd, I don't care; what I do care about is other's feelings, including yours and Grian's.)
-The key to interior is visualizing how you’re gonna use the space.
thank you so much
Why is this not the top comment?
Instructions not clear, made dirt shack
Lol
thanks, now i learned two things first:i learned how to make a nice furniture without downloading mods
second:i learned how to make a best interior
thanks again you are from my best youtubers
so good grian.
do the interior of a house that is built into a mountain/ hill
Love that accent! Gar-age! Just love it!
Britts, you gotta love 'em!
Grain thanks for teaching us interior and building houses And also I learned a lot from your vids and you fixed 1 of my many problems
Your building skills are really awesome! :)
He, says that small builds cant have enough space.
Me : *digs unground, and lives there like a boss* 😎
My brain: I can do that!
Actually me: LOL
Absolutely one of the grandest atrocities I get to have the pleasure of slaving over... decor. I suck at decor. Great builds... Perhaps I need to look into joining a build team. I don't have the patience for decor. I barely have the patience for builds and that's when I'm inspired. Love your videos Grian. Keep inspiring.
Your better than my old teacher who would be like "If you ask questions just ask im here to help!" but when I ask a question she literally gets so mad
Backwards ender dragon heads make pretty good toasters.
Also the fact that Grian didn't place carpet over that line of acacia log that stood out somewhat triggered me. Still, the build was amazing like always. Wonder if he ever actually did try to cover that acacia log with carpet and thought it didn't work, perhaps it didn't.
Hi Rose
Everyone: Grian how do you do interior?
Grian: I dont know what that is
actually this was incredibly helpful, you've reached me to try to use depth in my houses and not make them like blocky and that really helped alot so thank you!
