  • Hi, we have the Heil pr40 40 microphone in Direct comparison with a standard stock ELECTRET microphone that comes with the Icom ic-7300. I thought it might be fun to do a basic video on a differences you might expect to hear if you to buy the microphones or possibly curious what they sound like as you can hear there's no extra amplification or EQ added. I hope you find this video useful. It's only a basic quick video but at least he might give you some idea which path you want to go to when it's time to change your microphone. The editing was very difficult, hope it made sense, Thanks for watching and a big thanks to George, PL4LSD for his help for making this video, thanks and 73 from Rotterdam 👍🏻Hallo, we hebben de Heil pr40 40-microfoon in directe vergelijking met een standaard voorraadmicrofoon die wordt geleverd met de Icom ic-7300.

Worth noting is the DC blocking capacitor built into the PR-40. If there were no DC the blocking, the microphone and radio may have been damaged by the 8 volts DC present on the audio line.

Hi,thanks for your comments, I was warned about that, so I brought a Icom/Heil, microphone cable,,,,very good quality and good materials used 👌, 73s from Rotterdam.

its not right to say both mics are dynamic when they are not, the stock hand mic is an electret mic that requires DC power from the radio trough pin 1 at the radio connector and the PR40 its definitively a dynamic so the DC power has to be blocked using a 1mfd capacitor.

Hi, yes I agree 👍, as you can see in the title and description it's a Electret mic,i realised to late, but thanks for pointing that out, 73 from Rotterdam.

I would very much like to hear the difference between the Heil PR40 mic. and the stock mic. that comes with the Icom, IC-7300. Would anyone watching this fun bit of banter know where I might find a video that would actually compare the two different microphones? Seriously, that would be a nice bit of a review as I do have the PR40 and would like to hear (from the receiving gear) how it fares against the Icom HM-219 (stock mic.)

Works only with any 7.5 V Dynamic Microphones, if u have money then the membrane comes from pic. The SM50 Is Original adapted to the icom input impendance. This is the only part u can install, in anyway u need an specrum analyzer or Oscilloscope to adapt any other impendances , then u must have an expert to do this with around 20 years of expirence :). The hand one is an electrete one, they have no drum pressusure .

Thanks for your comments, the SM 50 desktop microphone is excellent, but I wanted a studio mic 🎙 for a boom arm, much easier, and I am satisfied with the results 😀, 73 from Rotterdam. 👍

Hi,thanks for your comment, sometimes the noise floor is quite high and it makes it difficult to hear some operators, maybe speak with you soon, the propagation has been terrible during the day the past month, thanks from Rotterdam 73.

The hand mic isn't dynamic, u will find the standard mic has a heil microphone insert in it that's y is sounds so good for a hand mic.

Bob Heil worked with Icom to develop the PR-781 specifically for the the IC-7851 flagship radio. He also reportedly help design the hm-219 hand mic for the 7300. I’m sure icom paid him well.

A good video to watch is optimizing your audio, Bob Heil. Covers settings for Yeasu and Icom with his history thrown in.
I like the video. Nicely put together by all involved. 73's KF6EWO

Try SONTRONICS PAD PRO direct in ICOM 7300 same test. It is cheaper and work perfect much better. Heil it is expensive but not very good to speak in radio.

@@guentermair6415 Hi,buying any studio microphone 🎙 is a bit or a gamble, there's so many variables, 🤔, but I buy only once, so I got a Heil pr40 microphone for the reputation and build quality, its also down to personal taste 😉, but do your homework and I think it will work out, thanks from Rotterdam 73.

Why are you comparing 2 different element? The electret required shadow power and far less gain.

I must agree with this. Total disaster. First, who cares what you sound like from your end. Second, use the recording feature of the receiving radio and post that. Third, bookmark the video so that we can switch easily between the mics. Just some suggestions. 73s
