I've always wanted to add a focuser to my Daystar Solar Scout (SS60-ds). And now I can. Nikolay Ivanov has 3D printed an excellent mount for me to be able to attach the ZWO Electronic Automatic Focuser (EAF).

Hey there Chuck! Really hope alls well. Looking forward for clear skys buddy. I'll be tuned in. Thanx
Thanks, I can't wait for the warm weather, 20F right now.
Thank you Chuck! You always make my day so much better!👍👍👍
Glad to hear it
EAFs are fantastic upgrades. It wasn't that long ago when I didn't have one and adjusted the focus manually. Silly rabbit....
Yeah, manually is for the birds, lol.
That's great 😊
Yeah, can't wait to get my scope out.
@@ChucksAstrophotography mine is already out ... But it's cloudy ... Tuesday will be good they say ...
What do you use for inspiration 😅 like how do you select your next target? I'm willing to explore the lesser known ones like LDNs or some other CAD objects ...
I'm limited to southern exposure only ... So yeah ... With the moon close to Orion many nebula are written off so I went for M46 and the Leo triplet using my 125/800 scope and an old camera as my newer one refuses to power on ... Got to bring it to the doctor :)
@@actudoran I like big bright targets, even ones I've done before. But with the moon coming back, I'll be looking for some objects in the north.
I love my ZWO EAFs 😊
Great, can't wait to use mine.
I love mine. I have it attached to my Lunt 80MT. It works really well even in bad temperatures.
Cool, yours is a ZWO also?
@@ChucksAstrophotography yeah. It’s seamless with the Air Plus. I haven’t used it with pc yet but I’m going to have to with planetary. The Air Plus is terrible for solar system photography. For example it doesn’t support ROI and there’s no filter options for mono. That could change with updates but so far yeah the EAF is awesome. No issues whatsoever.
Oh awesome!! Nice focuser buddy! Very awesome bro!! Can't wait to see what u capture with this buddy!!🤪👍👏
Yeah, can't wait for better weather.
A nifty little device. Beats going outside to turn a knob!
Exactly
I have two, they work great! I have a setup basically like Chuck's, telescope is in the driveway and I'm at my computer in the nice warm or cool depending on the time of year and most of all bug free house. I use the same usb cable as chuck, 65 feet of cable to be exact, the EAF's really made my life easier. Yes, I belong to The Order of the Lazy Geeks.
Oh cool, yeah - I have to be at the controls inside the house. The ZWO focuser seems very simple to use, I like it.
Nice, you have a 3D printer, too!
How awesome!
I need a 3D printer, lol. But this was printed by Nick Ivanov.
@@ChucksAstrophotography oh, well everybody needs one, don't they?
Nice one Chuck, I've two of these work awesome. Clear skies soon!
Thanks Ollie. I'm surprised by how many people own more than one.
@@ChucksAstrophotography I think once I tried it Chuck I was way too lazy not to have one on my second scope 😆
Nice Chuck! It is very compact.
Yeah. I usually shut down solar imaging from November through mid-February because it's too cold and the sun is too low. But hopefully, I can startup again sooner than later. I still haven't even tried that big new scope I have. I need to try that before this new focuser.
Hi from Russia 🇷🇺‼️✅💔👋video Top 🔝‼️
Hello from the USA
Hi from India🇮🇳
Ийвет (PS: I am not good at Russian so please correct this
Congrats on the new gear Chuck! I really like my ZWO EAF. Can’t really beat it for the price.
Thanks. I can't wait to put it to use.
I really don’t know what I would do without them, you would have to run out there in the cold and refocus after every filter change, temp change and meridian flip. Now I stay on the couch in the warmth. I have 4 of them and control them all from ASIAIRs. Works much better than my Moonlite focus motor controlled by APT, which I still do on my RC8 setup. Welcome to the 21st century Chuck. 😂
Well I still haven't tried NINA or the ASIAir, lol.
Nice!
Thanks!
hi
Hey Chuck love your vids. Make sure you line up the belt so that's it's perfectly 90 or it will pull it off the eaf
Good point, I know adjusting the focus actually extends it in and out, so I'll have to make sure it's lined up.
@@ChucksAstrophotography any way to attach the focuser to the other side that moves so it will move with it. Then you should never have a problem no matter how far you adjust the focus
@@greglight5808 No, nothing to attach it to on the other side. I know Deep Sky Dad has a mechanical mount that can move in and out with the focuser.
@@ChucksAstrophotography what about an old telescope ring clamp and instead of a dovetail plate you attach the eaf. Did I explain that right
@@greglight5808 I'm not too worried about this focuser. Nick says to make sure focus is good before I use it so I only have to move very little - maybe an 1/8 of an inch or so. But I've tested it going more than an inch in either direction and the belt still seems fairly lined up.
the zwo EAF is the reason i cannot justify any other electronic focuser really, why should I spend 400+ when this little box gets me in focus every time, it only needs a usb lead so that it can be powered from the camera hub and costs something like 250€
Yeah, and it can be used in so many different ways.
What's a good beginner telescope for a kid
I made this vid for beginner scopes: ruclips.net/video/wN4SgPfp3og/видео.html
Nice, would love to have a solar scope too.
btw...did i just spot a hometrainer ?
Are you talking about my stationary bike? lol. I ride it every day during the winter.
@@ChucksAstrophotography good job !!!
Hi chuck, i have a clestron 8se and looking to get into some astrophotography, can you recommend a decent camera and any other accessories i would need? Thanks in advance love your content
Cool, the 8SE doesn't leave a lot of room for a camera with the Alt-Az mount. Your options may be limited if that is that the mount you are using?
@@ChucksAstrophotography yeah, im just starting off so just using the mount that comes with the telescope, just looking for some suggestions for a beginner this is my first telescope and would love to get some nice images nothing crazy yet
@@User-iy1gx The ASI224MC is a nice slim camera, great for planetary and the moon and it has a small footprint.
Im new in this topic, can you tell me how to make my telescope track things like stars etc. And follow them automatically or something similiar?
I was looking for this exact solution, but for the Solar Scout 80, which I'll be receiving in a couple of days! Do you think the 3d printed accessory base and the focuser belt will fit in this scope too?
I don't know, but I will see if Nick can reply to any questions.
@@ChucksAstrophotography Thanks Chuck! I'll be happy to buy Nick's accessory, and of course the EAF. I really hope it fits!
@@astrofotoperu Nick doesn't have that scope, but if someone could give him the dimensions, he could make one.
@@ChucksAstrophotography Thanks for your help Chuck, would you mind sharing Nick's email so that I can send him the scope's measures?
@AstroFotoPeru I've sent you an email to your gmail account. Cheers, Nick
how about a demo using the computer remotely.
Here is how I setup remotely from a previous vid I made: ruclips.net/video/U3TGDgEJTws/видео.html
can any telescope look at planets beyond the moon during the day time or do you need specific daytime telescopes to filter brightness out

Chuck am I late here?
Your late, Jeff. Pack your bags and go home 😁😁
@@ChucksAstrophotography ok🥺😢
