    I've always wanted to add a focuser to my Daystar Solar Scout (SS60-ds). And now I can. Nikolay Ivanov has 3D printed an excellent mount for me to be able to attach the ZWO Electronic Automatic Focuser (EAF).

      What do you use for inspiration 😅 like how do you select your next target? I'm willing to explore the lesser known ones like LDNs or some other CAD objects ...
      I'm limited to southern exposure only ... So yeah ... With the moon close to Orion many nebula are written off so I went for M46 and the Leo triplet using my 125/800 scope and an old camera as my newer one refuses to power on ... Got to bring it to the doctor :)

      @@ChucksAstrophotography yeah. It’s seamless with the Air Plus. I haven’t used it with pc yet but I’m going to have to with planetary. The Air Plus is terrible for solar system photography. For example it doesn’t support ROI and there’s no filter options for mono. That could change with updates but so far yeah the EAF is awesome. No issues whatsoever.

    I have two, they work great! I have a setup basically like Chuck's, telescope is in the driveway and I'm at my computer in the nice warm or cool depending on the time of year and most of all bug free house. I use the same usb cable as chuck, 65 feet of cable to be exact, the EAF's really made my life easier. Yes, I belong to The Order of the Lazy Geeks.

    I really don’t know what I would do without them, you would have to run out there in the cold and refocus after every filter change, temp change and meridian flip. Now I stay on the couch in the warmth. I have 4 of them and control them all from ASIAIRs. Works much better than my Moonlite focus motor controlled by APT, which I still do on my RC8 setup. Welcome to the 21st century Chuck. 😂

    • @ChucksAstrophotography
      @ChucksAstrophotography  2 года назад +1

      Good point, I know adjusting the focus actually extends it in and out, so I'll have to make sure it's lined up.

    • @ChucksAstrophotography
      @ChucksAstrophotography  2 года назад +1

      @@greglight5808 I'm not too worried about this focuser. Nick says to make sure focus is good before I use it so I only have to move very little - maybe an 1/8 of an inch or so. But I've tested it going more than an inch in either direction and the belt still seems fairly lined up.

    the zwo EAF is the reason i cannot justify any other electronic focuser really, why should I spend 400+ when this little box gets me in focus every time, it only needs a usb lead so that it can be powered from the camera hub and costs something like 250€
