  • Saturn is at its brightest this year as it has reached opposition. I captured it from my backyard with one of my oldest telescopes, the Celestron NexStar 8SE. And right before I pack up, I saw Jupiter rising above the trees, so I captured that planet too.

      @brandonrunyon 2 года назад

      An 11 with a high magnification eyepiece or with a Barlow lens will give good views of it. I can get just as good of views as in the video through my 8 inch reflector with 15mm and 2x Barlow. Jupiter and Saturn are really bright so it doesn't take a lot of resolving power, just lots of focal length.

      I would look for a telescope with an 8-inch mirror or bigger.

      We are looking at the light reflect off of the planets. None of the planets can shine on their own.

      Buy a planetary camera like the one I used in this video, the ASI224MC, and see what happens. A motorized mount would be nice too.

    You should get an asiair pro - then you won’t need a wired computer for at least 1 of your scopes…

      @@ChucksAstrophotography I have one and love it - but I’m very new to astro. One negative is it’s not so good for planetary as it can’t capture video very fast. But for automating everything else it’s amazing. Also, you can run an Android emulator on your pc to control it if you don’t have a tablet or iPad.
