  • DIY Coasters • make great personalized Christmas gifts!
    I love making coasters as a gift for any occasion! You can personalize them in many ways and the cost is minimal! The tiles only cost me .16 cents each and those were the largest cost for this project. You can use scrap fabric and print your own photos to keep the cost under $1 for the entire project! Even buying all new supplies, the cost is under $5!
    The Christmas printables I used: www.designertrapped.com/free-...
    You can download these photos and then change the settings to print multiple photos on one page. For the correct size for the wreath and red truck I printed 6 to a page. The trees I printed 4 to a page.
    For your own photos, you'll want to play with the settings to fit the photo on the 4x4 tiles, but printing 4-6 a page should work best.

    I've had a few questions about the coaster finish being durable with the mod podge. I've made these several times as gifts...even after 5+ years of use, they have held up to hot and cold drinks. There is a newer mod podge option that is dishwasher safe if you would like to use that one instead for durability! Have fun creating!

    I made coasters for gifts. I sprayed them with Modge Podge sealer. After drying they developed air bubbles and ruined them. Do you know what could have gone wrong?

    These are beautiful coasters have you check them out with putting a hot drink on them to see if they will lift up or Mark are they safe to use for hot drinks

      I've made them often for gifts for family members and theirs are still looking great after a good 5 years! There is a newer mod podge that is dishwasher safe that may be a little more durable.

    Love these! I’m having trouble printing them in a small size. How do I print 6 to a page? Thanks!

    • @CreationCallsMe
      @CreationCallsMe  4 года назад +2

      Once you download them, you can open them up as a picture. In the printing settings you can chose the size that is 6 to a page. I believe that is a 3x5 picture.

    Do you use regular copy paper that you would print a letter on or the , I used my paper that I have to use for infusible ink markers and it’s Running when I put the mod podge on there

  • @dianethompson9525
    @dianethompson9525 2 года назад

    I loved these. You didn’t put anything but mod podge to seal them-is that enough?

    • @CreationCallsMe
      @CreationCallsMe  2 года назад +1

      Mod podge works great to seal them! I've made them several times like these. There is also a dishwasher safe mod podge that work well to water proof them.

    • @CreationCallsMe
      @CreationCallsMe  3 года назад

      I didn't. Mod Podge is pretty water resistant. I did some coasters recently in my Bee DIY video and I used a different Mod Podge that is dishwasher safe that I believe is better for this project.

      @@CreationCallsMe But... the fabric you put on the back as well as the round pads will not hold up in the dishwasher. You have to take the whole project into account and given how these were made, they will not be dishwasher safe no matter what mod podge you use.

    • @CreationCallsMe
      @CreationCallsMe  Год назад +1

      @@SuzetteG316 I never said to put them in the dishwasher. I said it was dishwasher safe - which means that it would be more waterproof than regular mod podge.

    • @CreationCallsMe
      @CreationCallsMe  3 года назад

      I have not noticed that being an issue, but there is a newer Mod Podge that is dishwasher safe that would for sure be waterproof, I was able to find it at Walmart.

    • @CreationCallsMe

      No, they were brand new. If you're reusing tiles or have dusty ones, I would wipe them off first

    My coasters couldn't handle a hot cup of coffee. They got sticky even after using a spray poly urethane!

    • @SuzetteG316
      @SuzetteG316 Год назад

      Everything we paint (even with mod podge or polyurethane) has a cure time. Being dry isn't being cured. I think you didn't wait long enough before putting a hot beverage on your coasters.

    sorry i am going to suggest that you cover the whole tile with the paper instead of some as the paper shows where on the tile and doesnt look right just my suggestion
