- We had a chance to go behind the booth with Dubfire and learn more about his DJ booth - including demos of his Traktor rattlesnake snare + Ableton Push setup.

Dubfire is the best underground legend of any genre - never sold out, solid guy and one of the best producers ever
Not sure what sellout means but if you mean made money…his Grammys, Apple commercials and global success as a house hold DJ and producer before the Dubfire project certainly helped chase the underground dream. Either way, this, that, and Dubfire are dope.
Dear DJTT, I just wanna say how much I appreciate this series. It's great for us newbs as well as for for pros alike.

Dubfire is one of the most inspiring DJs out there.. Not only that, he's ultra-cool and a very likeable person.. I also love how he includes the Push2 in his set.. Thanks to DJ Tech Tools for sharing this insightful and inspiring video..

I really like this approach to DJ'ing! It turns it more into more of improvisational live production. Way more flexible and room for creating truly unique sets.
this was so long ago and still so current in modern DJing. Dubfire is still one of my favs!
amazing remember hearing Dub Fire a good 20 years back in DC they were something special, oh and that Innocence RMX they did is still the ultimate.

I felt very very privileged to see deep dish last November at Echostage. I was defiantly star stuck to say the least.
When he said two club next to each other, he was mentioning Zei Club and Spy Club. Zei was the original home for Glow Saturdays. They (Glow/Panorama Productions) were the first that brought DJ Tiesto to Washington DC in the year 2000. Now I wonder if he is talking about Reggie Wilson who was a resident DJ at Zei or Spy.

Pretty much what we use to do with s groovebox :/ not anystrong notation will mixing move just changing samples and temps most are prerorded beats but u have opatunity to do full cuts and the layer more loops is awsome but can definitely get the style of repetitiveprog if u dont do huge changes but love it!

even after i have synced ableton and traktors midiclocks, i still have to manually change the bpm on the push? and have to keep clicking the sync button! is there a way it does this automatically because im sure hawtin and dubfire never have all this trouble?
+shane gallagher Hawtin recently said in a CNTRL tour interview that he manually syncs traktor to ableton so that he can feel in control of what is playing and not that the computer is in control.. he only syncs within traktor and then beat matches ableton

Theres a problem - this setup is only able to combine 4/4 beats together with bank of loops (whatever they are made - bass, bassdrum, synth melodies) and anything else that needs bpm beatmatch....otherwise he needs to mark bpm of the entire stuff else and so add new things on different sort of beats (non 4/4)
Does he manually sync traiktor and ableton or through midi clock?
I was going to ask this, running both software programmes on one laptop? Clock sync etc.

I've roamed around the tube a bit and still haven't seen a pro dj using Numark equipment. Does it say something about the brand? I am close to spend some money on it but...

there are many writeups on this topic check DJ Endo. It's done using JackRouter to route the audio from Traktor to Ableton and then out to the Xone92 and then sync the Midi clock
Hey Brad, sure I've had a crack with it before, theres also Soundflower which does a similar thing. I'd just wonder how Dubfire actually does it - some people prefer not to use midi sync and beat match Ableton in manually.
It would be awesome if someone could tell me how to do that "rattlesnake snare"! Is it a sample or what? can't understand!? Great DJ...

is he running the push through tractor or ableton? i never get how the setup works and they say what they do but not how its done ya know?
Ableton. Everything he was doing is done in live. I am kinda curious as to how the mapping for the push to traktor works.
Not sure myself but the way i see it is that Ableton is synced with Traktor decks as the sound of Ableton is a "Live Mix" deck in Traktor...so, the Push is controlling all the functions of Ableton in the background but the output sound will go through Traktor as a fourth deck...or at least that's how i see it!
he could have the decks running threw ableton too. Then effect the decks with abletons effects as well.

So basically i have pioneer djm 850, 2x1's and ableton push.... is it possible to somehow have 3 trackdecks and also run the push in the background? I play a lot of loops and is important for me to have full control over 3 decks.... and also to manage the push to run in the background... im just not sure if that is possible with the mixer i have as it has an internal soundcard. Thanks a lot in advance bro!
