SLAY. I was standing next to this young cameraman that night. Same place I had always stood at every Chisel concert and pub gig I went to from a VERY young girl. When Mossy smiled 😻🥰❤️
Obviously all the love to Cold Chisel and Ian Moss, but as an Australian I want to pay homage to the genius of all the best of ‘American music. What a treasure you all have given the world.
Mossy is great but I’m afraid he does not beat the one and only Ray Charles when it comes to this song! It was because of him that this song became such a popular cover and his version is the offical state song for Georgia.
@@Shakes-Pand hes still performing it at concerts ...I saw him sing this at the last concert I went to a year ago. He was still just as good. That voice is silky smooth.
It's a well known fact down here in Aussie land, that back in the day, the best Saturday night you could have was at a Cold Chisel show. Either at a pub, club, or concert.
ASDA saying goes Australians really do punch above their weight-such a wonderful brilliant musical history this country-has enjoyed and continues to do so!.
Absolute classic performance…. I’ve just seen Ian perform this song and many others on his latest Solo tour….. Ian has a new solo album out Rivers Run Dry…..( with clip)….. and another song ( with clip) Nullarbor Plain….. I know that you love Cold Chisel and Jimmy Barnes….. I would love you to do more Ian Moss….. 1 because he has an extensive career catalogue…2 because he’s World Class and need to be appreciated by the rest of the world…… Great work keep spreading the Aussie love around the world…..👍🇦🇺.
It seems simply amazing to me-the thing that is cold rock and roll-captured America-captivated the English-and has become part of the Australian soul-. It happened to all of us all at the same time-these days I do not care for the garbage they call music-it will never be better than the privileged-true heart on a songs we grew up with?.
Added it all up. Seen Chisel 9 times , Ian Moss 8 times and Barnesy 14, all since 1981 thorughout various states and vanues. With Barney and Mossy constantly touring, my wife and I see them usually every one or two years. Chisel - in all its forms, is Australia's gift that keeps on giving.
@@Shakes-P the quality of their performances has not changed over 20 years. They always give all their energy, happiness and professionalism. Inspiration stuff to see men who are now in their 60s still out perform all competitors. We never miss them.
The beautiful Ray Charles wrote this a while ago. He was a heroin addict and now the State of Georgia has pardoned him and it's their state song. Ian Moss is one of those gifted guys. Mossy makes that guitar sing.
Shakes, outside Ray Charles….and possibly the equal of….Mossy is the King of this cover. I attended this show…an alltimer! Beers at the Covent Garden pub before and after! Merry Christmas!!
It was summer and I swear I remember seeing the sweat coming off his forehead ,love cold chisel ,it's my password for everything ,I'm broke but cold chisel were a band I grew up with. Not everyone loved Cold Chisel ,as a favourite because in Australia there were so many good bands ,spoilt rotten . But I love Cold chisel too death
Brilliant, thanks for this reaction. I was lucky enough to see Mossy several times play in the pub I worked in as a barman over 30 years ago in country Victoria (Australia). The man is such a talent (both vocals and as a guitarist) and was always so entertaining back in the pub rock heyday 🤘
@@80mphisntfastenuff yeah mate I know I was speaking figuratively speaking like I was 11 years old back in the day of chisel Jimmy was the man , I know Ian is the singer but barnsey was the man that was singing a lot more than mossey
I applaud Ian Moss and Cold Chisel but isn’t anyone thinking - let’s leave it to Georgians to sing this song? I get that artists may want to pay tribute to their inspiration but this song is set in a place - plenty of other songs to make homage to.

the piano and guitar are magic in this. ...

That landed deep. Some performances transcend music and go to another level. That’s definitely one ❤👏
Mossy is a GOD.. favourite band ever... saved my soul many a time
Thank goodness that wasn't the last time they played. I've seen them about 20 times since then! And every time was awesome! Long live Chisel!
Shakey - also need to have a look at 'Janelle' from the same Last Stand Concert. Just beautiful.
Hands down the greatest version of this song ever

I'm a Ray Charles fan but this version has me spellbound and grinning like a fool.
Thank God that cameraman was there and decided to film this. Now we'll always be able to listen to this again and again.
Amen to that!!!!!!

It is on the Barking Spiders album.
It's a live album.
This is why ,old country singer sang heartaches by the number , because Georgia written from the best
Mossy is the BEST!!!💪🏼👍🏼😎
Cheers brother - I never appreciated how spoilt we were here in Oz until the reaction renaissance got me 😊
We were spoilt weren’t we💕chisel

ditto on the goosebumps. Exactly the same time.

Great Band! Great Track! Great Reaction!!!! Thank You so Much ✌
Thank you Mate!
"You guys got spoiled, man!" Spot-on!!! I was right near the cameraman that night. It still absolutely moves me hearing this all these years later...

BTW love your reactions! You certainly did a great job on Chisel and i laughed aloud as i watched you fall into the Chisel rabbit hole!
I saw him do this last year. I cried.
cold chisel reformed and touring 2024.

50 years of turning us into putty in their talented hands.

I think I loved Mossy's voice more than Jimmy's, but both voices compliment each others so well ❤👌
i was never disapointed when Jimmy spat , went AWOL it and left the vocals to mossy.
Hear hear!! I second every comment 👏 That ending just blew my mind 🙆🏻♀️
Oh you'd love "Janelle"from the same night!! Small song, and it's in my top 4 Chisel songs ever
Thinking back at 83 I was only 11 years old but Jimmy was the man back then, and still is
Jim is not in this song!

Barking Spiders Live album
a friend of mine heard this a few years back and said . it was still pretty good. .
It’s a lovely version isnt it
about time you come to oz shakes....
Yeah,
I think that trip is inevitable.
Planning an Aussie - Oz trip soon Mate!!!
@@Shakes-P if you plan it well you might catch a cold chisel concert.
Just for fun, you need to see them in their prime: “Wild Thing” Last Stand
this tape was locked away for 30 years ray charles wouldnt have heard it,
hey shakes, watch bal a versaille cold chisel.
Sooo amazing!!!
if you not good here the crowd throw tomatos at you.
He doesn't ever perform this song badly.
Mossy IS Cold Chisel
Mossy is a great singer but when Jimmy Barnes is in your band you will always be just the backup singer!!
no way Barnesy is singing that song as good. It would just be one screaming monotone.
you gotta be good in oz . they chuck rubbish at you and swear if you are not up to it.
Flu or just fogging up a bit with the emotion of this tune ,I know I'm hopeless in that department .
Great band...great song....pity about baldy and his mouth complete with BS yank rap speak.
You totally ruined this by bloody pausing every 20 seconds at the beginning
ARGH.!!!!!!!!!!

your right no ones thinking what you are, plenty of georgians out there, can they do better ?, probably not
turn it up , its a song , he's not marrying the govenors daughter.
Mossy might have been singing about Georgia Smith.
