Definitely prefer Greg's voice! It is a matter of taste as John's voice and the Petta songs changed their focus of the sound they wanted......However, I wish they remained with Greg.
I recall as a teen how much these songs helped me find Strength to overcome what to teenage me was so painful. I found myself remembering that and here I am
Thank you for your hard work on all these Petra songs. Generally I am a song person and not favoring any music groups, except for Petra. I am a totally grateful Petra fan, especially the 80s songs. I've been a Christian for 40+ years and thought I would thank you before I go home to Heaven. I can't take tomorrow for granted. God bless you Unknown Petra Fan.
This is so crucial to all of us who are true believers...the idea that we can beat the system simply by being guided by God's word. "Wise up, Rise up..." We all face the heat and have the power to dare to beat the system. Petra was the real deal, but they were driven by the Lord who is the architect behind all that we know to be good and well. Praise God!!!
"Teach your children when they are young... when they are old they will not depart from it." Mom played this when I was a toddler. Heroin and Whiskey became my life for years. Sober 4 years now. Thank God mom had Christian music and the Bible in our home. Many struggles for all us kids. But, I fought my way back. Hope my siblings do as well. Btw, "Hollow Eyes," best song! Oh yeah,.."Witch Hunt," is so fun!!
this song kind of has like an Eye of the Tiger type of feel and sound from the group Survivor. Both soungs sound like they are the underdog, or over looked. However there were a few bands that did make songs like this during that time
It's a rapid fire list of cliches, but I always liked the bridge lyrics in this song. 2:44 Go for it all, go for broke, turn the tide, aim for the top, take the Lion's share, hold your ground...Beat the System!
My personal favorite of theirs. I often imagine myself performing this song on stage as part of a hybrid cover with Dream Theater's "new Millenium". That song has a chorus of "I've got this feeling/ the tide is turning our way/Funny Feeling/Everything's going to be all right, now" which, to me, complements BTS perfectly. In addition, both songs are in C# minor.
Please - continue to post Petra-!!!!
These guys are light years ahead of their time!!
Listen to the words!!!
This is real people!!!!
Petra's best album. I like their work with John Schlitt but I like Greg X Volz better. And there's not a bad song to be found on this album.
Greg Volz is an awesome man and have been able to meet him.
I like Greg more as well
This was the only album Petra did in this style. That makes this one special in their catalog.
Definitely prefer Greg's voice! It is a matter of taste as John's voice and the Petta songs changed their focus of the sound they wanted......However, I wish they remained with Greg.
I'm glad Petra has/had both Greg and John as lead vocalists because they brought different styles to the music, but I prefer Greg's voice.

It's a rapid fire list of cliches, but I always liked the bridge lyrics in this song. 2:44 Go for it all, go for broke, turn the tide, aim for the top, take the Lion's share, hold your ground...Beat the System!

"Speak To The Sky" got me through some real barriers.
As our country goes corrupt, we must never give up on our homes, God wants us to fight for what's right for not only ourselves, for our families

This stuff is ok but prefer their John Schlitt stuff by a country mile. Still good to have had some Christian rock music in the early 80's though.
Do you know Jesus Christ? This is only possible through Jesus Christ.
