This part of the Barstow Fwy is entirely 6 lanes between US 395 & I-40. This parallels Former US 66/US 91. Once you meet US 395, it's 8 lanes as you pass through Cajon Pass.

Interstate 15 is often called the Barstow freeway but Last time I was traveling down cajon pass I wondered why interstate 40 wasn’t numbered to run north and south instead of east and west. This would of been cool if interstate 40 ran north and south climbing over the cajon pass and have interstate 15 connect Barstow to North Carolina. Interstate 40 would of connected San Bernardino if it ran north and south.
