Thanks, I found this very helpful. I think I will go with a Push Back Recliner this time around. I like smaller confined chairs that sit more upright vs ones that are deep and lean back.
The problem with most recliners (for me, as a tall man, anyway) is they don't offer any head and neck support and the lumbar is usually shit. Makes it difficult to get in a comfortable gaming session, and more unfortunately is they seem to be the only style in vogue with most furniture stores! The power recliners you mentioned work great in alleviating these design flaws, but are they ever expensive - and difficult to find. Had I never went into my local healthcare accessories store for my mother's walker, I never would've known about them. Anyway, let this concludes my meandering rant against the recliner: it's a crap design in need of an upgrade!
I live in Michigan it is now 6:45 p.m. I prefer the power chairs my hands my hands are very weak so I cannot use the lever. I prefer cloth opposed to leather. Thank you I think I will buy purchase one.
@bluesdirt6555 Get a la-z-boy. ignore the negative reviews that float out there on the web. good news is that they have so many great reviews. but just ignore the reviews from ungrateful pissed consumers. my grandparents had a la-z-boy rocking recliner, that chair was suppose to be given to me. but nope. they gave it to my uncle. one of their sons in the family. he had it for 8 years, up until may 2020. and at that point during the pandemic when lockdowns were happening, he threw it out cause the foot rest was broken. you brought up corduroy, so i have a suggestion for you. "chenille". that's your best material for a recliner. it's like corduroy. but the fibers are put together like corduroy. very soft to the touch. good news is that chenille fabric maintains heat. say someone was sitting in your new chair. and say the chair was made of chenille fabric. when that person is done sitting in your chair and you sit down, that chair is going to maintain the body heat from the previous person that was just sitting in your chair. make sense? i hope so. that's what i realized with my old recliner that i miss so much. I had a good relationship with that chair. it was like an old friend I'd come to from time to time. Nice, and blue. That chair would've been in great shape if I got it from my uncle, way before his neece and nephews, on his wife's side of the family decided to use the chair as a play area. before they decided to break it. lol. Am I mad at my uncle for throwing it out in 2020? no. I will definitely go to a la-z-boy store soon to test one out. My folks are considering in getting 2 recliners. we have one, but honestly it sucks. chair doesn't lean back when you're sitting in it. only way to lean it back is when the leg rest is open. Very crappy if you ask me. Thank goodness my step-grandmother has a la-z-boy. she had it for 12 and a half years, almost. she bought a second one for my step-grandpa, who sadly passed in January 2022 from dimentia. Don't know what happened with his chair. at least my step-grandma has hers. i love it. not too big, not too small. just right. No pun intended. But I will go to a la-z-boy store, and get my chair. Will ask the employees there if they can find me a blue one with very soft "chenille fabric". old school manual chair. not a power recliner. those are up in price. I hope this helps. and again if you're looking for a recliner, please go with la-z-boy. my other set of grandparents on my mom's side of the family had a wall recliner 20 years ago. that chair lasted a long time. don't know if it's still around today. but it was soft to the touch. Chenille is my to-go material for a recliner. can't wait to get my hands on one. hope la-z-boy has one that looked like my 16 year old blue recliner. that was a part of a 2 story house that belonged to a friend of my grandpa's, on my dad's side of the family. my grandparents that rented that house in 2008. but moved out in february 2012. so glad i sat in that chair and napped in it. so glad i spent lots of time in that chair when it was passed to my uncle in 2012. many memories in that chair. i'm getting my own now. and it will be a blue one. maybe a navy blue. but for sure, chenille is what i'm getting. nice and soft. a warm hug is what i deserve when i sit in my new chair. the "therapy chair". a chair that helps me overcome anxiety. a chair i can meditate in and watch ASMR videos all day.
Does the La-z-boy Pinnacle rocking recliner come in a wide variety of fabric types? If I pick up this model of a chair, can I get this chair in a chenille fabric? I use to have a blue rocking recliner, that probably was a pinnacle. sadly I didn't ask anyone around if that chair was a pinnacle. it was from my grandparents house. they gave it to my uncle, who had the chair from february 2012, to may 2020. and he had to toss it in the dumpster because the reclining handle broke off, after the chair suffered with a jammed foot rest for a few years, before the chair was tossed in a dumpster in may 2020. i loved the material of that chair. just wanting to know if the pinnacle rocking recliner like the chair in this video, comes in a soft plush chenille fabric. i just love to feel those clean lines under my fingers as i'm sitting in the chair. the clean vertical lines on the back of the chair, and the horizontal clean lines on the arms and sides of the chair. thank goodness i stopped by a La-z-boy in tucson back in 2011, and found out from an employee what this particular material is called. so soft. better than micro-fiber honestly. and leather. thank goodness my step-grandmother has a la-z-boy in her home. she got it 12 and a ahalf years ago. i nap in it when i visit her. it's a leather rocker. will continue to spend time in that chair until i get mine. i asked a family member if he can help me get one. will ask him if we can pop by a la-z-boy store so i can get one. can't wait to get one. with a blue chenille fabric material covered in it. do you know what the cool thing about chenille fabric is? it keeps your chair warm. let's say someone was sitting in your chair? then you relax in that chair after that person gets up from that chair. whatever is in the chenille polyester fabric, that warmth remains in the chair, especially during the cold winter months? isn't that cool? that's why I love la-z-boy. my family has a leather rocking recliner here at home. but that chair is the worst. it's comfortable. it doesn't do what it's suppose to do. allow you to lean back while the foot rest is down. with my step-grandma's chair, i can lean back while the foot rest is closed. for sure i am getting a la-z-boy. no clothes for christmas this year here in 2024. a recliner. that's all i'm asking my folks for. lol. it will be right next to bed my queen size bed in my room. a perfect place to nap and watch ASMR videos while snuggling up with my cute plushies!
The, push back recliner is not my favorite. I have cerebral palsy in my left side I don’t like the manual recliners you have to manually reposition the cack rest.” I have a leather powered recliner with adjustable headrest.” In my bedroom, it’s easier for me to recline back in my powered leather recliner. It’s amazing!!
This one is a bit difficult to explain. If you sat in both of them you'd notice a big difference. #5's rocking mechanism is built differently represented by the arching motion graphic. It rocks a little easier and feels much smoother.
I don't know how any recliner is great for reading. When reclined, I have to crane my neck forward and down to be able to see the book in my lap, and that is very uncomfortable after only a few minutes. I bought a pillow designed to sit behind my neck and head so that I'm not staring at the ceiling -- this would be fine for watching TV, but it's not enough for reading. What I really wanted (but didn't get) was one that raised my feet about halfway while leaving the back un-reclined.
Do they still make rocker recliners that you can lean back in without pulling out the foot rest? The one I have now, you must pull out the foot rest in order to lean back and I don't like it.
Thanks, I found this very helpful. I think I will go with a Push Back Recliner this time around. I like smaller confined chairs that sit more upright vs ones that are deep and lean back.
This was fantastic and very insightful thank you. What are your thoughts on recliners with massage functionality?
I was wondering if there is a similar video for 'comfort'? Looking for the most cushioned seat and lower back support. Thoughts?

Looking for a small recliner! I’m 5-6 and a few years ago a sat in one but haven’t been able to find one . Also like the large corduroy fabric.

Very helpful, but please, do refrain from rocking in videos! I'm sure I'm not the only one who can't watch it...
