      I have a very swollen gum with the same looking substance on 2 teeth at 2:39. Only on the front and it has caused a tooth to shift forward. I have an appointment in 2 days and am having anxiety attacks about the scaling process and the pain it involves. Is there any alternatives or way to ease the pain? I'm also concerned about the after care following, how long will I be in pain. I've been binge watching ur videos for the past hour in a panic. I'm not even sure what I have but I'm assuming it's this

    I was super shocked that I had that buildup despite quite frequent cleanings (I had them every 3-4 months) and the fact I've been brushing twice/day and flossing once/day. But it turned out, I've been doing it wrong. Now, after introducing an electric toothbrush, interdental brushes and water-flossing (and improving the way I'm flossing), I no longer have such a problem. Granted, I had a deep cleaning performed over a year ago, but now I'm having my cleaning appointments every 6 months just to prevent anything to happen to my gums, as I don't even have the tartar to remove.

    I had a dental cleaning in late April. He didn't do a good job and I told him that I noticed tartar, he told me I saw discoloration and need teeth whitening. I went to a new dentist last week, I'm going to need a scaling because he did such a bad job and didnt get rid of the build up correctly.

    I actually told my dentist not to use the ultrasonic scaler, just to use the regular one because I have very sensitive ears and the noise bothers me lol so whenever I go in they use the regular scaler unless there’s something that needs the ultrasonic one, then let them do what they gotta do 👍

    I stumbled upon one of your videos recently and I have signed for the 5 videos thing but I have a real question. Is it better to floss once a day at bedtime or should we do it twice? Since doing it with the floss the right way takes so much time.

    • @TeethTalk
      @TeethTalk  Месяц назад

      thanks for signing up for the free oral care guide! the American Dental Association recommends at least once each day :) so I usually tell my patients that once a day is fine, but it can't hurt to do it more than once as long as you're using proper technique. always ask your dental provider what they think is best for your individual mouth. hope this helps!

    I’m booked in to see the hygienist later in the month. My teeth have become pretty bad over the last 2yrs because I’ve spent a lot of the time in hospital, almost dying multiple times, and just being very physically unwell and unable to care for myself. Unfortunately during the times I was unable to care for myself (meaning unable to brush at all, sometimes for months at a time), I had no one to do those things for me.
    So currently I need several fillings, sadly predominantly on the front of the front teeth and between my front two teeth. I also have damage caused by previous whitening carried out at my dentist as they did it whilst I had open cavities near the back. So I have a tonne of sensitivity there.
    We have a really good plan to fix it- see the hygienist, then back to the dentist who will do the corrective work, and my home routine is now pretty good. I brush 3 times a day (as soon as I get up; 30 mins after breakfast; and then before bed.) I usually either mouth rinse or chew gum after eating, then in the evening i use both a water floss and string floss (or interdental brushes for the areas I can’t reach as I have some dexterity issues). I also use curasept gel which supposedly helps with gum disease, and also the toothpaste I use is Colgate duraphat which has 3x as much fluoride as normal toothpaste.
    I drink through straws; try to limit sugars to meal times…I do all the stuff. I’ve put together the routine using your tips, bits I’ve researched, and some bits my dentist suggested like the toothpaste so hoping this will help. My gums are a million times better. They were 3’s and 4s at my last appointment and I can tell they’ve improved so hopefully that will have changed now.
    My questions/ concerns if you could answer these is
    - during my hygienist cleaning I’m really worried about the sensitivity, especially on the cavities. How do hygienists handle cavities during a cleaning? Do you still actively scrape and touch them? As that just sounds like it would be excruciating. In the UK we don’t have the option for any anaesthetic for hygienist appointments only dentist ones- so is there anything else I could do to lessen the pain and sensitivity on the cavities during my cleaning? It’s making me so anxious and although I know I need to get it done and will be much better after, every fibre of my being wants to avoid it because I’m scared of the pain it might involve on those front cavities.
    -Also what whitening options does someone have after fillings? Is it really just invasive stuff like veneers/implants or are there any other options? As I know that normal whitening doesn’t work on fillings.
    Thanks if you read this far.

    Hi Whitney👋.
    Please i need your opinion, I'm trying a home DIY teeth whitening trick using baking soda and tumeric powder,
    I heard it's effective and i also know you said it could destroy the enamel but i can't afford a proper tooth care for now so i want to try this trick for my brown-ish teeth
    Do you perhaps know anything about this tumeric and baking soda trick?
    Like the effect or side effects,
    How long i should let it stay on my teeth,
    How to do it the right and safe way and so on ?💁

    • @TeethTalk
      @TeethTalk  4 месяца назад +1

      there is no evidence regarding tumeric. the safest and most affordable way to whiten is by using whitening strips. it's not worth trying to save money with DIY treatment and ruining your teeth, which will cost even more money to fix. here's my videos that help explain: ruclips.net/video/M_e2xDcR0yY/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/2ZUHHbiZcLQ/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/K3Uo6Aplf1E/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/JwITgrGU96Y/видео.html

    Hey teeth talk girl and everyone,
    My dentist told me they were"just going to plan my teeth, but instead used the drill damaging all of my teeth and "polished" into it thru the roots of 14 healthy teeth. Then forced me to see by placing body weight on drill trying to go through titanium implants causing a jackhammer effect on my skull. After two years of litigation i finally got my full medical records showing dental plan always was do root canals on healthy teeth. Is that considered the average standard of care for Denti-Cal patients?
    Thank you for being honest.

    What's your thought on Y-brush toothbrush and it's effectiveness compared to traditional brushing and electric toothbrushes? I saw a girl use it on TikTok and she recommended the Y-brush from y-brush company as a lazy hack and she claims it cleans better than traditional and electric toothbrush plus in less time. I would love to hear your perspective from a doctor's pov.

    I had a deep clean on two back teeth yesterday and the hygienist said she watched Teeth Talk Girl videos in hygienist school. I didn't have much if any tarter under the gum during my cleaning but had pockets of 5. Is it possible to get pocketing without tarter build up? The cleaning only took 25 minutes and there wasn't any catching of anything with the pick thingy (whatever it's called).

    • @TeethTalk

      it is possible to have pocketing without seeing visible buildup. sometimes there is still bacteria down in the pockets that you're not able to see it -- however if you're concerned, you can always get a 2nd opinion at a different office. hope this helps!
