You have taught me so much about metal detecting even though I have been in it for 30 years. My first detector was a Whites XLT which has paid for itself 10x. I now have a brand new Excalibur and only have tones, no VDI numbers on the screen. My hearing is horrible because of using extremely loud tools throughout my career without ear protection. I’m going to have to say THANK YOU FOR YOUR CHANNEL!!! I’ve systematically scoured the beaches where I live but now I’m able to put on my waders and get into the water up to my chest. My finds have doubled in a very short time. My best finds with the XLT are an 1832 bust half in almost uncirculated condition and a 1772 half reale, which I donated to the Little Compton historic society some years ago. Now I’m finding some really nice jewelry.

Disc IAR is a great feature, it works on the signal intensity from Iron.

5 Rejects lower intensity iron signals.
Sometimes I use it to identify misshaped iron as it can perform better than conventional disc modes modes.

It amazes me how many nails/random junk end up in the middle of a field 😅. There are a couple civil war battlefields by me, so if I could find some camp locations or just old undisturbed locations, that would be awesome. They're building so much so fast around here though, 2-300 acre fields are getting turned into subdivisions. 😔

Thanks for your Channel; i often enjoy watching your videos, BUT: You totally lost me in the ‘walkthrough’ (in order to programme ‘IAR’) when you switched from one sequence to another, suddenly displaying an option i cannot access here on my RTC (pitch option?). I could offcourse Call my local xp dealer and he would help me out, but i Think you should be Aware of making Logic progression in coding new programs, especially now you Beeing XP ambassador! (…AND a teacher) 🤴🏻

You did something you told us NOT to do... you rubbed the coins with your thumb.

Never rub the coin with your finger use water in a bottle to clean it just pour it right on it don't rub it. If you rub it you lose the value of it!!!

iar = irrational algorithmic redundance or in plane speak gobbledygook. 😵‍💫. How about we just go detecting and have the machine just knock out the iron. 😄. My old Minelab Explorer II was fantastic on rejecting iron but because it detected right across the coil if a none ferrous item was on or near iron that target was rejected also 😬but bare in mind that machine had 20 year old technology in it. 😛. We now have modern technology which is far superior on rejecting iron compared to all that time ago. We now have narrow signals that can get in amongst the iron for those little none ferrous targets ie the Minelab Equinox series. 😀. P.s. In my metal detecting club the machine that found the most hammered coins this year was a Minelab and that was used by a complete novice Equinox user. 🤗. The Deus users spent more time downloading new programs and trying to work out which iar setting to use. Lol. 😆. HH from across the pond. 🙂.
