  • Live from the Dorchester Hotel in London-the Buddy Rich Orch featuring Lead Trumpeter Charley Davis on George Harrison's "Something." Originally recorded with Lin Biviano in 1972, the backstory is the arrangement, originally written for Maynard Ferguson, but Maynard passed on the chart and Biviano swiped it to play on Buddy's band. Charley gives his own take on it here.

    Nice! Got to work with him a few times at the Frontier in Vegas before he moved to LA..about 1,000 yrs ago

    I heard Buddy Rich I believe it was 1973 (this same year?) in Houston, but Lin Biviano was playing in the band and played the lead on this tune.

      that would've been '72 or Feb-April '74 when Lin re-joined weeks B4 Buddy fired the band b/c he was opening his club in NYC
