LOVE LOVE LOVE going here, but it's been awhile. My brother in law (Matt Mason) used to drive down here from Sacramento every year and we'd drive up (from Orange County) to visit for the day. I could ride those trains all day. I love the bridges - especially the one WAY out in back. It's been about 6 years since I've been there, so even though this video is older - it's good to see again! Thanks for the memories!
Alex O'D here - Was a pleasure hosting you guys and I'm so honored to have my work featured in one of your videos! Love the feature of my scratchbuilt 1" scale Chama coal tower and Santa Fe Alco DL-109 diesel. The last few years I've been leading the largest rehabilitation and expansion of our 1" scale track in our club's history - I'm so happy to see the scale thrive and continue to grow in popularity. You guys are awesome and welcome to to revisit the club anytime!
Hi again!!! I hope I mostly got it right. 1 inch scale is really sort of rare. But it seems you guys are doing as much 1 inch as 7 1/2 inch. I know a guy with a 4 3/4 inch or 5 inch not sure. Anyway he has never fired it up!! He bought it like 30 years ago. As far as I know he still has it. Anyway thanks!!! We had a ball!!!
It’s missing a Florida East Coast railway members in the different gauge’s too ! I’m not familiar with any except the ones here in Texas ! The last time I was their I visited the (“Florida Gold Coast Museum”) they did not have a ride on mini-train ! 😔 but that was years ago ! The only place that I know of in the state of Texas still has a park similar to that is one called Zube Park ! Galveston Railroad Museum,(“ we’re 17 railroads met at one time”), the Houston Railroad museum, (“ presently in Tomball”) and the one caboose in Katy !!! I know we have a dinner train north in Palestine Texas I believe but other than that it’s about all I can think of !

It would depart from Houston, arrive in Galveston, am then back to Houston and so on and so forth on Fridays Saturdays and Sundays !!! It was run by the Galveston Railroad Museum ! All kinds of People would bring their bicycles and put them in the “baggage car” and get off at the rear of the building of the Galveston Railroad Museum on the strand of Galveston !!! It’s really worth it to come down during spring or fall to enjoy that type of weather down here because once winter hits, it’s bad ! State of Texas has some really crazy and weird weather !!! Catching up on old videos you have made because I REALLY LOVE how you always give all the details about the places you visit. Next time you're out Denver way there is a fun train town called Tiny Town. It's address is Morrison, Colorado. But it is up Hwy 285. Probably the second range of mountains past the Hog Backs(the first little range of mountains ). 5 minutes into the mountains. Their website is down, but they say they are going to open in May. About 5 years ago when I visited they had just had a Mason Bogie Steam Engine built. Plus they have 4 or 5 other engines. Not nearly as big or grand as the LA Steamers but a fun place to screw around.
TY both for taking us along and we will be w/ you as you visit the next door neighbor. We were both excited to visit Sonoma Traintown a cpl of months ago. It was Patty's 1st time but not mine. As always, I greatly appreciate all your Screwing around and taking us along with you. Ed & Patty
@@ToyManTelevision I know, the entire town of Sonoma is great. My father, just before he passed at 95, was in the convalescent hospital just yards to the north. Every 1/2 hr he got to watch the train as it went by...what a blast for him. So many memories of being there (Sonoma) and of traveling to Santa Rosa where him and Mom lived. That little bit of Highway 12 is the best part of road in CA, in my openion.
Hello Dale and Karyn! Well, you went and did it again. You brought RUclips another amazing and snazzy excursion into the miniature world of live-steam model trains. All aboard! Thanks for taking us along for the ride. -from Tom Pilling
Awesome! I've been there before to ride the trains, and to see Walt's barn! Also, you'd like the Riverside Live Steamers. I used to work there, and probably gonna go back!

I got a very lovely tour from a relative's friend, and boy is that place just a hub-bub for having fun and screwing around! Definitely a magical little railroad haven. Travel Town is also super fun for folks who are more into the really big stuff! Can't wait for next Sunday's show :)
Bob Renner yes. Sort of. It’s the story of Ward Kimball really early show from the narrow gauge convention in geeee. Like 2014?? Anyway they took us out to see Wards Railroad but the museum was closed. Sort of saw a few things. But really need to get back. Wanted to ride the light rail there as it’s been finished. But they only run it on weekdays and the museum is only open on weekends
Another great video Dale and Karyn! Love the LA Live Steamers! I can't wait for your Travel Town episode next Sunday. My parents used to take me to Travel Town frequently in the late 50's, probably starting around 6 or 7 years old. Have watched it grow, then contract (when the 134 Freeway which runs past it was built). For many years they housed a large collection of old Los Angeles area fire engines and equipment.
I remember those. Really new place. Mostly same stuff. Missed the 15 inch live steam locomotive but found it on the Whisky River Railroad. Great history on that. I saw it parked in an ally in 1970 or so. Super cool 😎.
I’ve seen a few 7-1/2 gauge SD-70 just like that ATSF one there but it had a small diesel motor in it and was almost identical to a full scale one, kinda rare-ish but it’s that time of year for modeling again
Great video as usual and many thanks for mentioning snow as the record breaking heat wave goes on here. The live steam park seems to exaggerate its size as you pointed out it does not have a great amount of land. Boy haven't they packed in the detail! Great fun and much appreciated.
Perhaps the heat will kill some snakes. Boy I wish you could send a box of heat here! We are hunkered down waiting for a major storm in a few hours. Behind that is a cold front. Expecting 13 degrees Fahrenheit

If you're ever around New Orleans, there's a nice garden railroad at the city park garden. Best to see it when there's a park event going on. Nice video, I enjoyed it
I do suggest the "Ghost Train" at Halloween... It has been a popular attraction at the Live Steamers for over 20 years now. There was a plan to end it (for several reasons) and it was cancelled one year BUT it had become such an institution that it is not going anywhere... As to that "steam pump" looking thing --- I believe that is the control stand for the older of the two hydraulic lifts at the facility. --
One of my neighbors has his miniature railroad it's one of the scales that is in the Los Angeles live steamers and also he has a electric locomotive that is similar to the two Santa Fe electric locomotives except it doesn't have the same color or Santa Fe logo, it has probably a yellow and even has a green color and red too and it is spelled hunter valley and pacific railroad.
I'm just talking about my neighbor that his miniature train ride its one of the scale tracks it's probably the 7 1/2 inch track and the AT&SF electric locomotives are similar to the electric locomotive that my nayber has that I said to you.
At 4:01 from what I see is probably 2 devices. It is hard to distinguish because there is something on the track immediately behind it. The large bulbous thing on the large diameter pipe on the left looks like a vacuum breaker which is a backflow preventer in a water line. To the right of that is a 1/2 , 3/4 or 1 inch pipe with a muffler and a valve from a service station for the hoist to raise a vehicle to work on the vehicle. The track section just showing in the lower right of the frame is lower than the other tracks and lower than the track of the turntable because it is built on top of the hoist piston to be able to unload and load equipment from trucks and trailers of varying heights to the railroad . In the '50's and '60's hoists from old service stations were readily available and fairly inexpensive to buy. They are almost infinitely adjustable which is good for this use.
Thank you for sharing this. I didn't even know such clubs exist. Reading the comments from other folks below it looks like they exist all over the US. I'll have to add to my bucket list to visit one of these clubs.
Thous locomotive facilities you were talking about are the steam up bays. They use those bays to fire up and put away there steam locomotives. There set up like that so you can work around and under the locomotive while you work on it.

Last year I took my Berkshire and a few of my coaches and toured a bunch of 7 1/4 gauge live steam groups like the LA live steamers basically to raise money for families who didn't have enough money for Christmas, we made around $20,000 and we might do it again and I think we will do more, and you'll know it's my loco because it is exactly like the full scale version just tiny, like somebody shrink it down, it's name is Artemis and it's number is 1775, she's a massive beast and is very loud.
Any word on the Big Boy 4014 and when are you coming out to the Fairplex Garden Railroad here in Pomona. we also have Rail Giant Museum, where Big Boy called home. Well drop me a line, and maybe we could meet up at the Fairplex, give you a tour.
Ed is working on a video of the mostly finished Big Boy! He is posting to Facebook and RUclips in about a week. We will co release a video then. Locomotive is almost running again. Still a lot to be done. Once the boiler testing is finished and the locomotive is working and tested, then jacketing an paint and final testing on the mainline anyway soon. Waiting for Ed’s video in a week or so. Don’t know. But soon!!
Love to see the place at fairplex. Have you been to guys hobbies? Link on our channel header. I have an email link there on the contact page. Don’t want to post email address but that sends to me without posting my address
We have a group called North Georgia Live Steamers about 3 miles from where I live. They give rides 3 or 4 times a year. It's a great railroad and the club has been around for a long time. Check them out. Mabey yall can make it here one day. As always another great video.
I hope for your sake that your Zoink is insured. If somebody runs over that thing you may have a huge liability issue that could get pretty ugly not to speak of the damage done to the Zoink itself. 😺
Nice video, thanks, I have modeled in outdoor live steam 3 1/2" gauge, I believe the third gauge you showed is 3 1/2" gauge. commonly the models are 3/4" scale, although the engine i had was 1" scale 3 1/2" gauge.
I think that is the smallest gauge out there 3 1/2. The other gauge is 5 inch gauge although I believe they run there is it four and three-quarter inch? 1/12 scale anyway. Originally that was 5 inch but as that scales out to 5 foot a lot of people shortened it to four and three-quarter to make it closer to 4 feet 8 1/2. But always 112 scale
Thanks!!!! Happy with this one. I’ve watched it hundreds of times. Well, that’s just editing but I have watched the posted video several times. What a great place!!
Like Toy Man said, they're hydraulic or hydrostatic actually. A lot of forklifts and road equipment use this system because it's very efficient and very configurable, plus the hydraulic motors can be tiny and yet produce an incredible amount of torque and you can control multiple motors with a single hand valve that is coupled to the 'pump' on the drive engine. The pump is basically a swash-plate driving multiple lateral pistons inside a cast iron or steel case, to pressurize the system. By controlling the angle of the swash-plate, you control the volume of oil circulated and the speed and direction of the hydraulic motors. They generally use a hydraulic 'accumulator' to smooth out the pulses of the pump and absorb pressure spikes that may occur when throttling up the driven motors.😉 (I used to work on forklift transmissions, so I know all this stuff, LOL!)😁
When I was much younger, I was hired at Travel Town to walk along the perimeter tracks and pick-up trash along the right of way, (Back then they had a small trolley car running around the place). Nowadays it is a park sized miniature passenger train, The place has changed since I was there last more of the cabeese are now closed to the public for so-called safety reasons, But I feel they should allow people to walk through the cabeese, and Passenger Equipment because the would show what accommodations were like way back before Amtrak Took over. Oh yeah, they also have an N-Scale layout in the back of the main building, (With its own nuclear power plant) hehe.
Aw man...why did you run over the Zoink? 😂 I was going to give you 5 stars for the show but now you get another 5 stars😆(laughter is the BEST medicine!) Loved the show as always!
The zonk was OK!. The tire, not so much. The Zonk is a shark little guy. Teeth. Claws. But sweet. It like a cat. The ultimate killing machine, frustrated because people keep picking it up and kissing it.

I love Halloween too so I have gotta go there!
Daniel Boone be really fun!
Keep making more love steam ones. Go to shay Park again these are seriously the best ones you make !!!!!
YES!!! Snow snow go away!! Come again another day!! Snow snow go away!! So we can go and play at shay!!
We have a group called North Georgia Live Steamers about 3 miles from where I live. They give rides 3 or 4 times a year. It's a great railroad and the club has been around for a long time. Check them out. Mabey yall can make it here one day. As always another great video.
Friends in Atlanta area. We were heading there several months ago... trip went tragically away. But we still want to get there.
I hope for your sake that your Zoink is insured. If somebody runs over that thing you may have a huge liability issue that could get pretty ugly not to speak of the damage done to the Zoink itself. 😺
Sadly it was run over. BUT its quite rugged. And mostly flat, like a rug.
They keep saying that spring is just around the corner... In this case.. they'd be right!
Puts the zing in zonk!
Rare Tasmanian Zonk. Sort of like a living frisbee that eats pizza.
eclemensen A Zoink is somewhere between the element zinc... and a noble gas... like Krypton.. when combined with that pizza... ZOINK!
I wish I could afford to do stuff like this
Dakota Showalter it’s expensive. Really expensive
@@ToyManTelevision I now I would love to go see stuff
You can, you just have to sacrifice everything else for functionality.
I wish I could give you guys two thumbs up instead of one great job
Thanks!!!! Happy with this one. I’ve watched it hundreds of times. Well, that’s just editing but I have watched the posted video several times. What a great place!!
I lost my Zoink 'bout 3 days ago...still lookin for it. Hope you find yours...
The cops had it. It’s safe. Need to bail it out
Do the diesel engines have traction motors? Or are they shaft driven?
Mike Lcml5c hi. Hydraulic system. Almost like traction but a hydraulic pump on the engine and small hydraulic motors on the axles
YOU SHOULD go to ZITNIK TRAINS in florida, my dad told me when I visit him, he will take me there
Toyman did you take in the "train show" this weekend at the puyallup fair grounds in Puyallup?
ROBERT snyder geee nope
HunterR909 yup. Next Sunday show!!
I wonder did they even operate in 2020? Are they opening in 2021?
Yes. But I don’t think ever open to the public
I just Use my snow blower because THE snow was to thick for THE shovels
We are waiting for the storm from hell. It's in Washington right now. We are gassing up 2 snow blowers (not lie)
I usually wait until it's knee deep! If I wait long enough.. it melts.
Morning toyman
Morning!!!
right 😉
You should go to travel town that's also in LA
Editing that right now. Including the Daylight painted Melody Ranch Railroad which is now their 15 inch gauge railroad.
You know it's really fucked up now that youtube has these annoying commercials that my adblock cannot block! I hardly watch RUclips because they started doing this shit! Keep your great reputation you tube!

Another very cool video!
