Lucy plays fantastically and her teacher is brilliant working with Lucy and allowing her to shine. It's amazing that she finds joy through music. Fantastic 🙂
I know her teacher daniel- he was my first conductor in the first ever orchestra I joined when I was 10. He made me feel welcome even though I was around 4 years younger than anyone else and was funny and lively. He founded a charity in deprived areas of West Yorkshire where I used to live, giving free instruments and tuition to kids who would never have got that opportunity. What a great guy

This is living proof that the only limits are the ones we place on ourselves because of our doubts about what is possible. This young woman plays the piano with her entire body. The fact that she cannot see is not a disability to her, but allows her to fully express her passion.
Well stated! This crazy world of wars and so on, these days, should stop and absorb what this world has to offer and appreciate. Lucy has calibrated the entire piano range ....to her finger tips! From 0:30 to 0:40, you can see her "re-calibrating" herself to the piano. Once done, she can make a multi-octave jump and hit with both hands. One small example of this is she dropped straight to the Eb at the end to find her final E. Lucy is a phenomenal musician and it was so interesting to see how her teacher taught her. When I was 5 I was so pleased that I could press down a key. My fingers are very weak so I can only use a few of my fingers when I play and my teacher really had to adapt the way she taught me but I’m glad she believed it would work. I would really encourage all music teachers if you are ever asked to teach someone with a disability, no matter what it is, don’t walk away but give it a go! You might be surprised! Looking forward to watching more of Lucy’s piano playing on RUclips!

Music teachers in my schooldays, many decades ago, were the only ones passionate about their subject. They were just so keen for us to learn something about it! The head of department when appointed flung out the old Dynatron music centre and somehow had ,for then, state of the art hi-fi. Garrard 401, Leak amps, Wharfdale Dovedale waist height speakers. Our Cream albums sounded good but not as great as the Night on the Bare Mountain! Good times.
I’m a big old powerlifting rugby playing nightclub doorman and this young lady has just moved me to tears. Such a special talent but also such a special girl with a wonderful family, I wish you all the very happiest future together
I am sure he won't read this. "King Charles, please give Daniel a knighthood." He could have pursued his own career (he plays several instruments to a high standard.) Instead he decided to teach children like Lucy the songs which he knows instead. Oh and he also has his own charity which helps more children to do this.
I am in complete agreement. If Lucy were to play for the royal family, I am sure that King Charles would indeed bestow this well deserved honor to Daniel. He really is a saint.
@@timtreefrog9646 Don't like the idea that we need an authority to confirm something noble has been done...especially when Charles himself is known to have done things that were distinctly not noble.
Lucy is living in a different world than us. She has and is experiencing total perfection of spirit. We won't understand this until we receive our reward in the end. She got her gift early to give us hope.
Exactly! She is now: PURE SPIRIT! Who does see before we see? Who does hear before ... ? Who does know before ... and so on and so forth? She sees/hears/listens/reads/knows SHE IS ...HERE ... NOW! ❤🙏
In a world of you tubers, influencers for everything, only fans etc here comes a young girl who despite her many challenges has a god given gift.the ability to touch your heart with her music, just beautiful ❤️
What a wonderful man Daniel is, Lucy is the “star” but Daniels time patience is amazing. Lucy and her mum are truly incredible. If you didn’t shed a tear whilst she played you have no heart.
@@lizdervish6557 I’m sorry to hear that, not sure if it’s age, or a man thing but generally blubber at most things but the determination of Lucy is astounding. I’ve tried for over 50 years to learn the piano and I’ve failed. Zero talent and musically inept, Lucy’s mum you can see lives for her girl and that alone is so moving but her relationship with Daniel is different it’s a bond that is truly truly beautiful. 🎹 ❤️
Impossible to express the magnitude of what Lucy, her mother and Daniel have achieved. The potential of humankind is an understated miracle. Thanks to all responsible for that incredible experience in a world where so much is plain mad and bad Did someone once say Britains got talent? This is worthy of the World’s got talent
I think of myself as a strong man but to see this wonderful child play such beautiful music gets me choked up with tears. I spent 30 years of my life as an Infantry Soldier never thought someone playing the piano could get me to tear up. But Lucy Did.
This darling girl is playing and dancing, a little rill of a waterfall and a leaf in the wind. She has a world of her own making and lets us in sometimes. It is so beautiful there.

I love how she was calling the names of her new friends and making sure mummy was there throughout. Her teacher is totally correct when he says listening to her play makes you glad to be alive. Bravo Lucy!! I have listened ten times and cry EVERY TIME
I started weeping just watching Lang Lang tutoring her, let alone seeing and hearing the final performance. A wonderful mother, a wonderful teacher and a truly incredible little girl.
This world will one day perish and everything in it! You are not to love this world or anything in it! I’m 75 and a music lover. I suffer quite extreme dry eye syndrome, this is the first time I’ve enjoyed moist eyes for years now! They became near wet for the duration, thank you dear girl for both your extraordinarily gifted performance and helping my condition for a little while! Just truly beautiful in every sense! Thank you too, to mum and teacher, what a wonderful body of special people! Cheers
Lucy has the greatest gift and the greatest burden. I just cry whenever I watch her play. She plays so beautifully despite all the challenges in her life. Her Mum must be so extraordinarily proud of her.
Not the first time I watch this, but it never gets old. It was only now that I saw how much Daniel (Lucy's teacher) was actually shaking nervously during the piece's finale.
I only discovered Lucy and the Trust quite by chance, yesterday ... yet this morning, as I watched the sun rise over the Snowy Mountains, I was able to share and applaud her thrilling triumph at the Royal Festival Hall in London as if I had followed every agonising stage of her journey from birth ... what a wonderful world that can produce such beauty in the face of the most extreme adversity! I'm 73 and have enjoyed a privileged life free of such obstacles and thought I had done pretty well with my opportunities, but I cried like a child because she has already achieved much more than I ever could ... R (Australia)
She has no idea how amazing she is and isn’t able to see the entirety of what’s happening around her and how she’s impacting everyone there, and the people watching around the world. I hope it brings her some Level of satisfaction and happiness
As a mum of a Profoundly Disabled adult child... Thank you Lucy, mum and Daniel for giving those of us at the coalface a glimpse into our own child's mind, who don't have this gift to express, as beautifully as this. They are in the Minators maze. You found Lucy's thread out. We need more "Daniels" to help others out of their maze.
@@rhuephus Profound disability is defined by an inability to live independently and a need for round-the clock supervision. It's a medical term like PMLD. What you said to the mum shows your lack of intellect and compassion. Move on troll
Daniel is quite wonderful.I am a piano teacher here in Auckland,NZHe has given me much to think about , to encourage my pupils to play what is in their souls....not from a book..I listen to Lucy play Debussys Arabesque every night.. Wonderful! Thankyou.
What an amazing teacher, yes, Lucy plays wonderfully, brought a tear to my eye but what a teacher and he last comments shows you how his heart is full of pride, well done Sir, you are an incredible man
She inspires me - she’s taken all of these challenges life has given her and pressed on and made something so beautiful so unique. After watching her, my own problems pale by comparison.
If we put aside, just for a moment, the hurdles this young girl has had to overcome, and simply listen to the sheer purity and sensitivity of her playing. She really is something else, disabilities or no disabilities.
That's right. ❤ And this is THE best version of this Arabesque. I think this should be played the way Lucy did. The other versions sounded a bit boring but Lucy made it sound youthful. It makes me imagine a girl playing with her music box with a ballerina doll and this is the tune the ballerina dances to. Bravo Lucy!
Yes, I was thinking the same; it is incredible that she's been able to learn to play the piano to this level but - separate to that achievement - it is just beautiful, expressive playing by one so young....her musicality is a gift 🎶
This little girl is like a sleeping butterfly. He lives within the limits of his body, but when the music is played, he begins to soar and fly to heavenly heights. Be blessed! Greetings from Hungary.
It doesn't matter how many times I watch this, it always brings on floods of tears...WHAT A TALENT!!!!! Lucy really makes you wonder how much potential is out there in the world completely untapped. We put our own assumptions on what others are capable of and limit them as a result. I wish Lucy and her family all the best and hope she is able to keep performing if that is what she loves. This clip is the gift that keeps on giving ❤❤❤❤
Lucy's soul i feel when she plays piano and listening reminds me to take a moment and just be still and take it all in. She truly is a phenomenal pianist 💕 beautiful

Beautiful playing Lucy. Your musical expression is stunning and straight from heart. Each note is pure and special. Thank you for showing us how grateful one needs to be. Wish you a billion greetings from India.
Dear Lucy, I just heard your piano playing for the first time and saw you, what you have created yourself with your 13 years is so incredibly phenomenal and good that I had to cry at your playing. I have never heard before you a person play so incredibly well and beautifully who is also blind like you, I am so deeply touched and impressed by your great nature, please keep up the good work, I wish you all the best health nimble fingers and a lot of success. I greet you from the bottom of my heart from Germany

Life is cruel and unfair. We struggle and suffer every day, often wandering why it has to be this way, but we carry on living. And every here and then, something incredible happens. Something that makes all our sacrifices worth it. We witness a few seconds of pure undeniable beauty and magic that remind us how beautiful life is. This is one of these moments. Thank you Lucy.
I am an old man of 73, and have loved classical music since I was first i troduced to it at age 6. I cried for what Lucy could have been if it wasn't for her disabilities. A world class pianist? Who knows what she could still be able to achieve!
Who knows how much her disabilities in some areas are what makes room for her genius? Who knows whether if not for her disabilities she might be more interested in boys than in music? Not trying to take anything away from Lucy, just saying. We never know.
Regardless, she is marvelous! She has the talent that most people don't have without disabilities. Lucy is an inspiration of a lifetime! I love her, her family, and what her teacher has instilled in her!!! 💓
Watching this again and I have never heard the piano played like this, this is just it's from her soul, it's from her heart and it's absolutely gorgeous and beautiful
I am sitting here with tears of absolute joy listening to Lucy play. Her timing and emotional connection to the piece is astounding! Her heart, soul and essence of being is being channelled here. You are gifted beyond measure. Thank you you for blessing our lives with your talent. ❤❤❤❤❤
Lucy, my dear, you have truly blessed me with your wonderful talent. I’m just listening for the fourth time and every time I cry. And to her teacher - bless you for your patience and teaching talent you must be so proud of her. Best show on TV for years.
People in the audience looking in absolute awe at the beautiful Lucy ,she has been put on earth to very much bless our lives im in floods of tears ❤❤❤❤❤..
We have all watched some amazing piano players in our time and become blaise' to their abilities with the instrument and composers who push piano playing to the limit. Here is Lucy. She gets to the soul of what music means and to what playing is all about for a musician. You can see HOW much she gets out of the enjoyment of playing, how it moves her, literally in her case, brings her joy and subsequently brings her audience joy. And knowing how hard her journey to playing so well is touches everyone in every audience she plays too. So instead of we the audience seeing another accomplished automaton flying across a keyboard we see this beautiful girl enjoying the simple delight of making music. It's a joy for us. I'm sure it's a joy for her. Thank you Lucy. ♥.
Half way through it hit me that I wasn't crying because she was a blind pianist but that she was a pianist who happens to be blind - and all I could think of was what Debussey's response would be to this magical performance of this masterpiece. Bravo Lucy. Bravo.
We get so involved in our own trivial problems and petty grievances and curse our bad luck and then you see something so amazing it makes you feel ridiculous. Awesome is all I can say.
just watched it again, again, and the same thing happens each time. The moment she starts to play, I feel like all the cares in my world sink to the floor, from my head to my feet, like a wave of peace, which gives my stomach butterflies as it passes. So nice!
Well, an older gentleman with heart problems here and I've just stumbled upon Lucy and her great talent. The happiness she has brought me (and copious tears) is the greatest medicine possible. To see her swing whilst playing jazz is the best cure. I am broken with joy and I wouldn't have it any other way.
What a beautiful young child, this is surely a God given talent, her purity shines like a light in a dark world praise God in his infinite mercy and I've got so much admiration for her mother, she's special.

I’m a big old powerlifting rugby playing nightclub doorman and this young lady has just moved me to tears. Such a special talent but also such a special girl with a wonderful family, I wish you all the very happiest future together
Aw you big old softie, you! 🥰
@@kizpaws Couldn't agree more! ❤
Would rather see people encouraged to make a donation to Ravenscliffe & The Amber Trust so they can continue with their work.
@@archiewoosung5062 why not both? 😉
@@timtreefrog9646 Don't like the idea that we need an authority to confirm something noble has been done...especially when Charles himself is known to have done things that were distinctly not noble.
No one is good at everything. But everyone is good, at something. Lucy has a gift of an unclouded focus for sound, she sees perfectly.
Perfectly said Mark!!! 💖
❤
She sees sound perfectly. I know what you mean. Thank you for your comment, Mark.

Lucy is living in a different world than us. She has and is experiencing total perfection of spirit. We won't understand this until we receive our reward in the end. She got her gift early to give us hope.
Exactly!
She is now: PURE SPIRIT!

I have watched it over and over. Cried a river. ❤❤❤
@wishywasy1 well said.
Brilliant
Impossible to express the magnitude of what Lucy, her mother and Daniel have achieved. The potential of humankind is an understated miracle. Thanks to all responsible for that incredible experience in a world where so much is plain mad and bad
Did someone once say Britains got talent? This is worthy of the World’s got talent
This performance made me cry. There's much hidden beauty in this world. Bravo!
Thank you for not fading out Lucy talking while playing, her playing is beautiful and inspiring .
She is a true gift to the world. Congratulations to Lucy, her mum and Daniel. Lucy makes the world a better place.
She certainly does.
I think of myself as a strong man but to see this wonderful child play such beautiful music gets me choked up with tears. I spent 30 years of my life as an Infantry Soldier never thought someone playing the piano could get me to tear up. But Lucy Did.
I am an 83' year old man . I can't stop watching these amazing videos . They are so beautiful they bring tears to my eyes .
This darling girl is playing and dancing, a little rill of a waterfall and a leaf in the wind. She has a world of her own making and lets us in sometimes. It is so beautiful there.
Such a beautiful comment ❤
Thank you, Cindy. I agree -- your comment was beautifully written.
It’s called stimming. Look it up, spread awareness for neurodiverse people. :)

Meanwhile.... Bravo Lucy !
Everyone is just in awe. Beautiful young lady and a perfect princess ❤
You can't ever get bored of watching Lucy over and over again.
Yes indeed!
BRAVO .......BRAVO .........BRAVO!!!!!! Apart from the numerous abilities she has acquired ....just imagine ....for one minute .....to all those who DO play piano .....and play the kind of music that is not only emotional like this .....but also covers the entire piano range ......whatever pieces you now know ..memorized .....NOW PLAY THEM BLINDFOLDED!!!
She may know the keyboard better than most "professionals" who rely also on their sight.
I could listen and watch her ALL DAY LONG!

Same. Watched her performances many times over. Each time as special as the first
What's a miracle? How is the probeability to find a very special teacher for this very special young Lady? Two gifted people found each other🤗 thank you for this peaceful moment in this chaotic world ❤

So there is beauty in the world. There is hope.

Yes there is, it’s everywhere, everyone is desperate for it, they just have to be brave and participate in changing the hate to love.
This world will one day perish and everything in it! You are not to love this world or anything in it! An amazing series, and some truly moving performances. More of this please BBC! We don’t all like watching ‘celebrity’ shows and soap operas!
It’s Channel 4!!

Lucy has the greatest gift and the greatest burden. I just cry whenever I watch her play. She plays so beautifully despite all the challenges in her life.
Her Mum must be so extraordinarily proud of her.
so true Alex my eyes get teary when i see her massive talent.

It seems she plays every song as it was meant to be played by the artist. With that authority. This is what gets us.
The world is good shine on young lady ! And a good man using his talents .to teach

Divine. Just divine. Speechless. Tears streaming down my face through Lucy's mesmerizing play.
Bravo Lucy. Bravo.
