The Red dragon of Cadwaladr. Supposedly the dragon was found by Merlin. When he was a child Merlin was brought before a king in north Wales and told to find the reason his walls kept collapsing each time they were built. So he lead the men to a spot and told them to dig. When they finally finished the hole a bunch of water spilled out revealing a cave. Out of the cave flew a white dragon and a red dragon. Merlin, The King and the people watched has the dragons fought a battle in the air. The white dragon seemed to be getting the upper hand when suddenly the red dragon flew back up and killed the white dragon. Merlin then proclaimed “The red Dragon is Briton and her people the white is her enemy, there will be times when we look like we near defeat but let it be known that we will win and get back up!” The king took this has a sign for his right to rule so adopted the red Dragon has his house symbol. He was the father or grandfather to King Arthur. Years later in the 1500s a young noble reclaimed the flag and marched from Pembroke Castle and won the war of the Roses, Henry Tudor became King Henry the 7th father to the 8th and grandfather the Elizabeth the 1st
Just remember guys, when one says Welsh, you are referring to the native Britons inwhich the term British derives. Dont let 18th and 19th century use by the English confuse people into thinking the English and British are one and the same. They are geographically British, but not Historically or Culturally, as they are of Germanic origin.
The Bodnant Gardens is a beautiful National Trust site in North Wales. Absolute Devine beauty, especially in the Summer. I felt like I was walking through an Elven sanctuary like Rivendell when I first visited. There are huge, old trees of many varieties protected in this woodland / Garden amongst tranquil lakes. Definitely a must see if you’re a nature lover, or a lover of life for that matter. 🏴
World mythology has a lot of creatures and monsters that need a bit more attention. A lesser-known dragon in English lore is the Lampton Worm, a monster so distinct it needs more attention. Vedic and Hindu lore speak of a monster called the Vritra, go look that up and see if you get any inspirations.
you did a great job trying to pronounce them! I speak fluent welsh and i still find it hard sometimes! Cian is actually pronounced as key-an since in wales we say it how we spell it
The red dragon actually represents the Celts (this could include some English people) and the white one represents the Anglo Saxons. The prophecy is that one day they will come back and the red one will banish the white one forever

Why wouldn't they?! They are culturally and Historically different to the English. Something many don't realise for some reason. Well, when the English control or at best influence most Education systems in the world, is it any surprise?!
Of course we do we are an ancient people lol. Trouble is the people here were a story telling people instead of written word and when The Romans and the angles/saxons invaded they destroyed most of it and warped what's left to suit their needs and agendas. Look up a historian on here called "Allan Wilson". He gives unfiltered truth of British history you will never learn in school.
I'm from Wales and I will admit our hard to pronounce names do put us on the map. Although I'm form the south I'd say anything west, mid or north is beautiful to visit, although you do need a car as the infrastructure struggles with the hills. Coming into this video I was expecting the Pwca to get a mention. I think they're meant to be trickster spirits that mimic the old will'o'wisp. Pwca uses fairy fire to guide lost travelers into marshes and forests and away from safe paths, where as the wisp tries to bring them back. I always loved that weird mix of protective vs. provocative fairies. Nos Da! x
Why wouldn't there be?! Most irish and Welsh legends cross over. After all, they are completely different to the English, Culturally and Historically. And let's not forget, they are the Native Britons inwhich the term British derives from. The Welsh are I mean.
Which Origins Explained has the Kelpie? It's my favorite legend. Even had a dream where a male Kelpie was a high school teacher of mythology by day and retreats as his horse form into the lake not far from the school by night. When the students discover his secret he begins teaching his classes as the mythical beings he is teaching a lesson about each day. Even taking the form of some well known anime characters or historical figures while teaching. I thought it was the most interesting dream I've had in a while. 🤣 Please do list some good reliable articles or websites about the Kelpie and maybe some other legends of the United Kingdom area that could also hide their secret as the Kelpie had. I think this would make a good book or even a series like anime or something.
if she has done the Kelpies or Water Kelpies, it would be Scotland. They are shape changers who can take the form of a human man (and at one time were blamed as the father of out of wedlock babies).

One of the most important lessons that I've learnt from this video is that I should only speak favourably of fairies. Just in case!
