Crystal when we travel airlines we used too, I would do a pill before boarding and it would make me drowsy and it helped but I do have mild epilepsy which the meds help I am scared of flying 100 percent
I really liked how Crystal actually explained what they were doing while they were going through the process leading up to flying. My first time flying alone was a business trip to Jamaica and I had a ton of anxiety because I had no idea what I was doing and had to stay there for a month. These are very important life lessons and it's just a step in helping him become independent one day.

You gave him the chance to face his fears and express them without everyone hearing and having to deal with everyone not just him. You and your hubby as well as your sister and her hubby are amazing people. I was in and out of the foster care system and it was people like you all that made my journey through the system while I was in it before being placed back with my bio mom way more bearable. Thank you all for being a public showing of what foster parents/adoptive parents should be. Too many foster placements are not the greatest sadly. I was in a few that were hell on wheels. Thank you for being great parents and for giving so many a safe foster home and those you adopted a safe happy home.

Rylan, I love aircraft and have flown many of times but I am just like you, always nerves, belly flops, can't focus. I am not scared of heights or crashing just scared of fire and being somewhere I can't get out like up in the air. My fav part is taking off and landing which most people don't like. It will get easier the more you do it. Proud of you!

The technique you mentioned of asking a lot of questions is not only good with flying but anything when someone is scared including medical stuff. It forces the brain to focus on the conversation. Great distraction!

This just gave me more content behind Max's video yesterday that he posted when he said that he had to drop you guys off at the airport and you and Aaron had a challenge that you guys were doing and he was going to have his first solo trip to Vegas.
Ermahgawd I wiiissshhhh my mom would have ever been like, you get to miss school to go on a flight! I never got to miss school even when I was sick unless I had a fever or worse. I'm so glad you guys took this trip. I'm lucky in that I don't have a lot of fears like flying, or heights, or whatever, but I've been around people who do, and it can be really rough. It's nice to have someone calmly talk you through the situation and just reassure you, *it's probably going to be okay!

When my nephews was going to ride the plane for the first time. I took them down the roughest, bumpiest street in or town and they were rocking and bouncing all over and I told them this is how turbulence feels. We go on the plane and they were cool as polar bears during turbulence as I death gripped the armrests. :)

I noticed that Rylan said his legs get tired when sitting for long periods. I'm really short and my feet don't touch the floor when I am seated on flights, so I recommend getting a portable travel foot rest designed for airplane travel. So much more comfortable!
Looks like a great time! I used to work in hotels, and unless you have to pay for lost keys, you can call the front desk, tell them you lost your key cards, and they can make you new ones ,and lock out the old key cards as soon as they are used on the door. Great job Rylan!! You are braver then I am!! I flew 4 times as a kid- all before age 8. On my last trip, I got deathly sick and that put the fear of god in me for flying. Along with some other things that have happened over the years. I haven't been on a plane in 40 years. And my family has tried to get me back on one. I really do want to fly, but I can't get myself back on a plane. I also get motion sick so that doesn't help me. That is why I have driven across the country 2 times in 3 years...

I’ve been on an airplane when I was younger before but it’s been several years. I think I would be nervous to go through the whole process again. 😅 I am so proud of Ryland for facing his fears.
