    Thanks to Dan John, I just bought a suspension trainer. Such a great tool for the posterior chain, especially shoulder and upper back exercises that are neglected in our daily, front-facing lives. Like you said, I have no room for a squat rack, no space for a pullup tower and door frames with odd dimensions that will not hold a pullup bar. I can see myself getting great use out of the TRX in combination with my kettlebells and dumbbells.

    I do a combination of exercise movements with various things. I utilize: Dumbbells, Cables, Machines, Resistance Bands, and the TRX. There are ways to make the TRX Exercises more challenging. Weighted Vest, ankle weights, Resistance Band and/or dumbbells with certain movements. Combination Movements such as Squat to Row are one way to do it also.
    I don't do much barbell exercises these days due to health ailments. Nothing does beat the good ole fashioned weights. However, one must do what they do to keep moving.

    We have been using TRX in conjunction with Kettlebells for several years with tremendous success. All our clients appreciate the combination of strength and flexibility. Kettlebells will make you stronger and TRX will increase your strength and add vital flexibility.

    Bought a cheap copy of it. Excellent to activate back muscles, just excellent. For shoulders too. Not necessary for other things, although it's great for core exercises too. I still love to lift weights though, especially some load for squats and deadlift

      Hey DS! Yeah definitely great for back and core exercises! I like to use weights for legs as well. There’s something about lifting a heavy weight off the ground lol.

    A question on the grips, I have an imitation I bought at Aldi long ago but tempted to get the original trx as the grips in the one I have move around quite a bit making it a lot harder for my wrists...
    Hope you can answer... does your code work worldwide?

      Hey! It's probably better to have a PT in person guide you through recovery from a surgery. I imagine they'll be able to do some hands on things and properly guide you through some safe core strengthening exercises.

    Sorry last question: which version do you suggest to get? There are different ones.. at different prices

    • @thedurablebody
      @thedurablebody  Год назад +2

      Hey Francesca! I would say the handles on the TRX are pretty sturdy. They don’t slide around. I haven’t noticed any problems with it. I think the code should work internationally, but it’s worth giving it a shot! Btw, the code is now TRX15KN for 15% off instead of 20 😕.
      The Trx-go on amazon is the cheapest one. I haven’t tried that one before but it’s supposed to have a thinner strap than the others and doesn’t have an adjustable foot strap. The handles are foam.
      I’m using the home2 system which is mid-tier, thicker strap, so more durable. The handles have a dense foam grip. Works pretty well for me so far!
      The pro-system is the highest quality. Thickest straps. The handles are a textured rubber for better grip and easier to clean. Also has adjustable foot straps.
      The tactical ones are like the pro but camo and has bigger foot straps to fit boots.
      I think the home2 system would work well for most people and it’s really good quality. But if you use the TRX a lot, use it outdoors, get it sweaty or dirty, I think the pro4 would be a worthy investment and will definitely be durable and last you a very long time.
      I hope that helps Francesca! Let me know if you have any more questions!

    Is it not simply adjustable straps, a couple of carabiners and handles or rings? You should be able to pull this together from materials at you local hardware store for sub-$50. What am I missing?

      I do like lifting something heavy lol. Some people like weights, some like, some people like calesthenics/suspension training, some people like both. I like adding some variety into my workouts. I’ll also use it for calesthenic-type of training and can even scale it down for rehab purposes. It’s pretty handy!

      What’s your cash app? I’ll buy it off you. I travel a lot for work and don’t always have a gym near by or a “fitness center” in the hotel. Not that you can call a treadmill and a single dumbbell a fitness center….

    I'm sure the genuine TRX is superb but for us amateurs a cheaper knock-off is likely to be perfectly adequate. I use the Decathlon 'Suspension Trainer' currently discounted at £12.99.

    I prefer a set of rings over a TRX... More adjustable, easier on the wrists, and way cheaper.

  • @rnguyen2516

    I guess with TRX, the “progressive overload” would be limited, right? Would the fact that it is suspension style, it engages more muscles?

    • @thedurablebody
      @thedurablebody  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hey @rnguyen2516! There are ways to make it harder like going to one leg or one arm. Beyond that, you could wear a weighted vest, but that might be it. Other ways to make it harder is going slower or doing more reps of course. And yes, I would say the suspension style probably engages more stabilizing muscles and especially core.
