    I still ride my 5010 v3. It’s still my favorite bike. But I am slowly saving up for the newer 5010😂.

      I still think the v2 is my favorite bike of all time. You can’t really replace it man. The v3 was even better than the v2.

    I have the v4. I think it’s perfect. Would never want a 29 on the front. Defeats the purpose of the 5010! Need 50 rise bars

    • @spicymountainbike
      @spicymountainbike  Год назад +1

      I would not stop riding my v4 either! It’s not that much different. The main reason to buy any new Santa Cruz Mx model is to have the glove box vs. the solid frame of the older models (V4).
      Santa Cruz didn’t reinvent the wheel. They just reinvented the in frame storage this time around. 50 rise bars are a little much haha. 35 max for me which I have on my V2! 20mm rise is enough on a 29” front end haha

      @@spicymountainbikeI agree 100%. I bought a basically new 2021 5010 for my gf and a month later they dropped the new model for 2023 😩 I guess its cool that its a mullet but I was more upset that I dont have the frame storage. It is what it is, its still an awesome bike.

    • @spicymountainbike
      @spicymountainbike  Год назад

      Yeah I hate when that happens. That same thing happened to me after I bought my 2015 Santa Cruz nomad. A couple months later they updated for 2016 and it started coming with boost spacing so I was stuck with my non boost (now discontinued) hub size.
      I definitely wouldn’t sell the v4 because of the storage box. It’s not that big of a deal having a little space in there. I’ve been running mine empty the last couple weeks just to save weight anyways.

    The lack of a dropper on this bike is comically dumb

    • @spicymountainbike
      @spicymountainbike  11 месяцев назад +1

      Saved a ton of weight with the carbon post but I only rode once with it. It’s impossible not to have a dropper these days. I put my old oneup v2 dropper on it before the next ride video.

    Ok question…. 2021 5010 cc x01 reserve or 2023 5010 cs build..??

    • @spicymountainbike
      @spicymountainbike  Год назад +1

      2021 cc x01 reserve for sure
      Cs build is a crap package for the price. The 2021 and 2023 bikes are so close in design too.
      The question for you. Do you prefer 27.5?
      My riding buddy got a 2022 yellow 5010 cc frame in small with the forks and crankset brand new never used for 3000$ off eBay in January. My frame alone was 4400$.

      So far it feels really good man but we’ll see. To be completely honest with you it’s still a bike with 2 wheels and pedals so it can only be so much better than any other bike haha. I won’t sit here and lie to you.

    • @spicymountainbike
      @spicymountainbike  Год назад +2

      Dude honestly I haven’t wanted to put the 27.5 on the front because it feels a lot better right now. I will be putting the 27.5 with the 140mm forks for a video and if it feels really good I’ll get a 160mm pike so I can do a proper ride.

      Awesome man he will love it. I don’t think the 29 front will be any harder than 27.5 for him to ride.
      I’ll be doing a video soon because I’m also very curious to see how it rides with a smaller front wheel and if the video is well liked I’ll get a 160mm fork for it because who knows. I might actually like it better. After all I’ve been a die hard 27.5 fan since 2015. Thanks for watching and staying with the channel!!!!

      Well the V5 does feel pretty small to me even in medium size and I’m about 5’10”. Are you getting him a Small size instead of xs? My best riding buddy is about 5’4” and he rides a small v4 5010 and the sizing is spot on.

    If you don't like the mullet all you have to do is change the back wheel to a 29er.. and to be honest mullet is a stupid name for what there meaning by it. Mullet is a stupid haircut that should have stayed in it's time and never came back

    • @spicymountainbike

      Santa Cruz calls their version “MX” instead of mullet which makes more sense.

      No only 27.5 in the rear. There’s no extra room.
