3-INGREDIENT CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM
Servings: 6
INGREDIENTS
1 pint heavy whipping cream
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk, cold
10 ounces bittersweet chocolate, melted
PREPARATION
1. Place a large glass or stainless steel mixing bowl in the freezer for at least 15 minutes.
2. In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate and sweetened condensed milk.
3. Microwave 30 seconds at a time, stirring after each, until melted. 4. Set aside to cool slightly.
5. Remove the mixing bowl from the freezer and add the heavy whipping cream.
6. Beat with an electric mixer until the cream begins to form firm peaks.
7. Fold a large spoonful of the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture to thin it out.
8. Fold the chocolate mixture back into the whipped cream mixture until just combined, being careful not to over-mix, which will deflate the whipped cream.
9. Pour into a loaf pan or 9x9-inch baking pan. Cover and freeze until firm, about 4 hours.
10. Enjoy!
HOMEMADE CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM
Servings: 1.5 quarts
INGREDIENTS
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1½ cups whole milk
¾ cup sugar, divided
¼ cup cocoa powder
¼ teaspoon salt
7 egg yolks
10 ounces bittersweet chocolate, melted and cooled slightly
Equipment
Ice cream maker
PREPARATION
1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the heavy whipping cream, whole milk, ½ cup of sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Heat the mixture, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is hot and steaming (but not quite at a simmer). The temperature should read between 175-180˚F (80-82˚C). Remove from heat.
2. While the milk mixture is heating, whisk together the remaining ¼ cup of sugar with the egg yolks in a small mixing bowl. Whisk in the melted chocolate until smooth.
3. Add about 1 cup of the hot milk mixture to the eggs and chocolate, and whisk until smooth.
4. Pour the egg mixture back into the saucepan and return to heat. 5. Cook over low-medium heat for 5-10 minutes, stirring constantly, until the mixture has thickened and begins to steam, or until the mixture reaches 175-180˚F (80-82˚C) on an instant-read thermometer. To prevent cooking the eggs, do not let the mixture boil.
6. Remove from heat and pour the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a large mixing bowl. Stir in the vanilla.
7. Allow the custard to cool slightly before covering with plastic wrap and chilling in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
8. Once the custard has cooled, transfer to an ice cream maker and follow the manufacturer's directions for use.
9. Serve immediately or transfer the finished custard to a loaf pan or a 9x9-inch baking pan. Cover and freeze until firm.
10. Enjoy!

I would just wash it off real quick. Still "double dipped" because he was holding the fork with his hand on that end. So whatever was on his hand just went into the ice cream. But, personally, I don't worry about it that much, as long as it's not like a bunch of spit on the end and the food is still getting cooked.

I made the 3 ingredient one. For those who want to make it, i personally recommend using less sweetened condensed milk. I followed the recipe quantities exactly but halved except the sweetened condensed milk because as i was measuring it i thought it was waay too much. So instead of 7 oz (halved) i used 5 oz. It came out very very rich and and creamy, personally still a bit too much sweetened condensed milk for my taste but i think it'd be fine for most people. To be fair, I'm from the uk and I've noticed a lot of American dessert recipes are waaay sweeter than uk ones. Otherwise they came out really good! Creamiest ice cream I've ever had. I put them into popsicle moulds and they came out really nice.

You can omit the ice cream maker for the custard recipe by simply using mixer, several batches of ice cube and salt, oh and also a big bowl and a metal smaller bowl.
Just make the custard liquid. Froze it. Take it out. Place the icecube it the big bowl, sprinkle the salt on it. Place the smaller bowl on the center. Scoop the frozen liquid on the metal smaller bowl using spoon into pieces. Use the mixer to start churn it. At low mix. After it start to smooth turn to high speed. it needs 2-5 minutes depends on your mixer. Take it out. Place it into ice cream container and freeze it again for 4 hours at least. Take it out, repeat the process. You'll need at least to do it 3 times to get it to smooth close to the what ice maker does. 4-5 times does the nail for me. It's very worth it. All you need is patient :)))

I have that kind of ice cream maker at home that you have to put in the freezer to freeze 24 hours in advance, and it's always turned out really well when I've made ice cream with it. I like store bought ice cream too, but I like making my own, because I can just mix in whatever I want into it, like candies, pretzels, fruit, etc...and really the options are endless!

fun fact: Today I put heavy cream ( not whipping cream just heavy cream ) and mini marshmallows in a pot and heated them together. I put the sweet cream in the fridge for a few hours and it made custard. Pretty sure if I put it in the freezer it will make sweet ice cream :) BOOM! 2 ingredient ice cream biatch!

I remember researching if whipping cream and heavy cream were the same (I was making homemade Alfredo sauce) and I found that they’re almost nearly identical, heavy cream just has more fat content in it. 36% vs. 30% fat in whipping cream. I did end up. Using the whipping cream for the sauce btw, tasted amazing lol.

My mom used to make custard ice cream, but in a blender. She'd blend up the ingredients. Freeze it and then blend it over again and freeze it until it came out soft and creamy. Was so yummy.

I tried the home made 3 ingredient ice cream today.
My experience:
It turned out great! Super simple! The best recipe on the internet!
1 thing though, I had mixed the cream for 3 minutes and then was like, meh...., enough.
I used fresh cream, instead of whipped cream. They are pretty much the same thing.
Proceeded with the next steps.
After 2 hrs in the freezer, the ice cream is still liquid. I did research online, and found out, I had to mix the cream for 8 minutes.
Had to re-empty the container and mix it for 8 minutes.
Put it back in the fridge.
It took 15+ hours to freeze. (Instead of 4 hrs, as mentioned in the video)
At 8hr+ point I though that my attempt was a failure. It felt like cold very viscous chocolate milk.
But not giving up I left it in the freezer overnight!
Woke up next morning- checked- PERFECT CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM!
One thing though, The above recipe made 1 LTR ice cream.
Next time I would halve the quantity of ingredients to make 0.5ltr Ice cream!
