- I test the HOKA Speedgoat 5 on a multiday hike for COMFORT, STABILITY, TRACTION, PROTECTION, and TIME-TO-DRY. They performed very well on various hiking terrains. They are especially while downhilling. They lack a built-in stability feature. Off-camber I found them to be less than stable but over the 85-mile hike I had no major issues.

very helpful video.
Very informative! Do you think it's worth looking into the GTX version for extra waterproofing on those super-rainy hikes?
Personal preference. GTX is nice until it is so wet that your feet inevitably get wet anyway. I bring extra socks.
Cool series! Speedgoat 4 has been my favorite show of all time but your video on the Merrill Moab is making me consider that over the 5. Thoughts?
Awesome. So glad you are getting value. If you had a great experience with the Speedgoat 4 then you will love the Speedgoat 5. The Moab is more of a clunker: dependable, reliable, and inexpensive.
Can you please review the Speedgoats 6.
1. Im a sprinter with around 120+ miles and also like to take it on the trails. my only complaint is all that cushioning gives me bad stability on one leg trying to do like any excercise other than running. And somtimes i feel like maybe one day the cushioning might cause an ankle roll like as you mentioned with stabillity
2. I love the traction, the feel of the cushioning, and the look.
3. Do you recommend something like this with a bit better stabillity? Or maybe slightly less heel cushion
I was wondering the same thing! All the good of this show with a bit more stability.
